Just wanted to chime in here that the “remove the middle name” solution worked for me on a current trip. When we initially checked in for the outbound segment of our trip my wife got her PreCheck but I did not. The gate agent wasn’t able to get the issue resolved.
I opened a chat with TSA and they very quickly got back to me and indicated that my name was being incorrectly submitted for validation — what got submitted to them was “<first_name> <middle_name> <middle_name>”, and this clearly doesn’t work.
While traveling I called SWA and the rep instantly noted that my middle name needed to be removed from the ticket, that fixed the issue and my passes were issued with PreCheck status (it unfortunately didn’t help as my origin was international and MCO doesn’t have pre-check for connecting flights, but the tickets seemed valid).
Shout out to Brent at SWA for so quickly recognizing the issue.
This clearly seems like a bug in the reservation system and needs to be addressed.

Delta owns the connection between Memphis and Atlanta. Boo! Life would be so much better if SWA had a direct flight.

1) This link doesn't work anymore. Is there another place you can refer us? 2) My wife is having the same issue. Literally everytime we travel on Southwest, she doesn't get pre-check. We've changed passports, updated Known Traveler numbers, had SWA customer service agents quadruple verify the details and numbers are correct, called TSA, Customs & Border Patrol and SWA. All to no avail. We understand that pre-check is not garaunteed, but she's NEVER had it when flying SWA, but has with other airlines.

As a A-List preferred passenger I have not been a fan of the new self-tag. No agent assisting with the "red line" you must wait behind. And watch out business travelers for the suitcase laden that are taking excessive time! It is taking me TWICE as long and have had to deal with several RUDE ageents in ATL. Seems like I have lost a perk of A-List!

Thank you, @RobH. I appreciate all of the info. I missed the LAS portion of the announcement. I would love for it to be permanent, but I doubt it will if slots aren't. I, personally, think it makes more sense to have four OAK routes than have two OAK and two LAS. I also think it makes sense from a B6 completion POV too.

Really not a fan of either the iPhone app or the mobile website... The user interface is very tacky and rudimentary. Both have terrible gradients on all the buttons... The iPhone app is just a ported web app... While it ensures constancy, it hinders what a truly native app could achieve. Please, either hire web and app developers with more experience, or outsource the development of them. Take a look at Delta, they have fantastic offerings for smartphone users, as do most other airlines as compared to SWA.

Thanks for sharing your experience. That sounds exciting. Seattle is a great Southwest Destination and is loaded with opportunities to learn about aviation and flight. I hope to return to Seattle for a visit some day and take the Boeing Tour or even experience the Aviation Geek Fest.

I love you Hokey Day story. Southwest must be a fabulous place to work. It's a fabulous airline and I'll tell you why. On Sunday, I was flying from Denver to Tulsa after a long week-end of wedding festivities in Aspen. I was really tired. Our plane had mechanical problems, and we had to change planes and we were four hours late getting into Tulsa. So frustrating . . . until I received an e-mail of apology from Southwest today and a $100 voucher on my next flight. Wow!!!! That is so cool. You guys are the best. I wish you connected to every city in the country.

Benchmark: Bravo! Thank you Southwest for demonstrating excellence with this committee. My company is also preparing for such a committee. I would like to know your process for selecting members? What is the procedure for who makes the committee? What is the structure? I would be happy to speak personally with the chairman, if this is possible? Thank you.
