Try booking to LAS and then to RNO as a multi-city route. There could be some timing restrictions on this, but obviously there are plenty of RNO flights through a few gateway airports. If you are checking luggage you'll need to inquire about having it "checked through" so that you don't have to go in and out of security to retrieve luggage in LAS, DEN, OAK, LAX, MDW, PHX, SAN, or SJC - whichever gateway city to RNO works best for you. Obviously to be in the flight path MDW, DEN are looking good - for frequency of service maybe LAS? LAX or SAN would be backtracking but could work if the timing was suitable for you. Something like this if the link comes through: https://www.southwest.com/air/booking/select.html?adultPassengersCount=1&departureDate=2020-02-12&departureTimeOfDay=ALL_DAY&destinationAirportCode=LAS&fareType=USD&int=LFCBOOKAIR&originationAirportCode=IAD&passengerType=ADULT&returnAirportCode=RNO&returnDate=2020-02-12&returnTimeOfDay=ALL_DAY&seniorPassengersCount=0&tripType=multicity

I have contacted customer service to request a one time grant of A list status for 2020 as my travel will be increasing in the upcoming year and I have been a loyal southwest customer. I was declined due to the need to "maintain the integrity" of the rewards program. I would have graciously accepted this explanation had I not found out through a google news link that southwest was surprising people with elite status: https://thepointsguy.com/news/southwest-elite-status-surprise/ Does anyone know how I might escalate this issue? I had a similar situation last year and was eventually offered a promotional offer to fly six flights for remainder of the year A-list, during which I flew plenty and earned A-list the regular way for the rest of 2019 to 2020. I think the promotion came sometime at the end of January or in February, i forget all of the details unfortunately. If they do end up offering you one, the best approach is to keep flying and pay for the earlier boarding options if that's important to you.

Was there a different green coat found leftover when you got to MSP? Too late now but this would be better if you had the seat neighbors' info to follow up exactly what happened. Were they sure it was the FA from the previous flight? They would have had to come back on to do this - not the FA on your flight? You will likely not get an answer for your feedback here since this is primarly a customer-drived community. SW is in a situation where planes are at a premium due to the grounding of 737 MAX, so I doubt we will be seeing new locations opened soon. Use the Contact Us link below to look at ways to provide your feedback directly to SW, and happy flying! That's exactly it @mwallace to use the contact us to suggest a demand. There are a few factors that would need to be evaluated - Southwest flies 737 aircraft exclusively so there would have to be demand in a quantity that a relatively larger aircraft could be filled. Looking at Wikipedia for the airport it looks like about 1M passengers per year. I'd compare it to another Southwest airport that I visited recently - Pensacola, which has 2M passengers per year, Southwest serving about 100,000 of those on basically two routes to and from Nashville and Houston Hobby with three planes a day. It seems to be viable there based on those figures, so perhaps Medford could also support Southwest service if they could justify that many flights per day and somewhere in the neighborhood of 100,000+ passengers per year. Gate availability would also be a factor - is there a space for Southwest to build out their operations? (I've never been so I don't know this first hand - it's an obstacle at many of the larger airports where airlines control the gate assignments and none are available for expansion without builing new concourses or terminals.)

Why would I need to start from scratch every year You don't - if you earn it during 2019 then you keep it through 2020. Then if you earn it again in 2020 you keep it through 2021. I'm not familiar with Delta, but I assume that this type of status operates on the same cycle although the dates could be different. This is different than anyone that got a promotional offer of A-list which wouldn't automatically carry to the next year, it would have to be earned.

SWA was running an MSP-BWI non-stop each direction in the morning and evening, and I became quite attached to them. They also always seemed to be full. For 2020, they have mostly been eliminated. I'm not finding any morning flights, and the evening ones have disappeared a lot also. Am I not searching correctly? I've come to depend on these flights and don't like the idea of switching to Delta... It's a complex equation, unfortunately just because the flights were full doesn't mean that the flights were the best performers or that the aircraft or gates were being used to their maximum capacity. The flights were full, but many of the passengers may have been transfering at BWI - maybe there is new direct service from MSP now that goes somewhere else where people were heading. Hopefully you can still use Southwest or the routes come back - don't buy your Delta flights too far in advance in case the routes come back when the Max 8 are returned to service. I did see an interesting quote though that the shortage of aircraft was affecting the airline in a way that they had to re-evaluate routes, even those that had been in place for a long time and they may try some adjustments, and in many cases the airline realizes they could use the aircraft better in a different way. Sorry I don't have the link to the article.

As you pointed out the other plane arrived after you and got bags before you, so some flghts do get bags faster...just not yours. @TheMiddleSeat wrote: When you cancel the dummy reservation the travel funds you receive can only be used by the passenger(s) named on the dummy reservation. As you are trying to book flights for two people I would suggest handling each person individually, creating two individual dummy flight reservations, one in each person's name. Yes, you will have to go through the booking process twice, but this will allow you to clearly see how much value you have associated with each person. On the final reservation you can then apply the two travel funds, one for each person to the reservation. Also, are you certain you have LUV Vouchers and not travel funds? Just want to double check as that affects how to handle this situation and how funds can be applied. If you only have LUV Vouchers continue on... Regarding taxes... LUV Vouchers cannot be used to pay for taxes, that's why the first step indicates you will need to temporarily pay for the taxes on a credit card. When you cancel the dummy reservation the taxes will be refunded to you, back to your credit card. Then you will have a travel fund which can be used to pay taxes so you will not use your credit card on the final reservation. Here's my suggestion... Using a $110 and $25 Voucher, book DEN-SLC one way on Feb 14, flight#820 for $145 for passenger A. You can use the Vouchers to pay for the fare portion of the ticket, $121.56 and your credit card for $23.42 in taxes. Cancel that reservation and request a refund of the taxes back to your credit card. You now have a travel fund for $121.56. Using the second $110 Voucher and the $20 Voucher book the same flight for passenger B and cancel as above. You now have a 2nd travel fund for $121.56. Now make a single reservation for the round trip you want for both passengers. Total cost should be 69+69+49+49, approximately $236. Your two travel funds will cover that with approximately $3.56 remaining on each fund. You also have some small remaining balance on the Vouchers you used to make the dummy reservations, approximately $13 for the Vouchers used by passenger A and $8 for the vouchers used by passenger B. Hopefully this clarifies things and I'd appreciate if other Champions double checked my logic here, I'm a bit rusty with Vouchers. --TheMiddleSeat Good point on combining the vouchers, that the dummy tickets would result in travel funds for that named person only. I agree the best approach to go per person, and I also wanted to verify that these were LUV vouchers and not travel funds due to the valuations. I haven't often heard of LUV being issued in $20 denominations for instance. I think by booking one-ways for each individual then the funds could be used without the dummy ticket workaround but there would be some residual values - need to know if the vouchers (or funds) would be likely to be used later this year or if it is critical to use the full value now without paying cash for the taxes.

I should add we were in the same position this year earning CP in August or so - might as well cancel and book a CP ticket and see if you end up using travel funds just in case. However in anticipation we did book several trips during this time on points, knowing points booking are refunded to the account as opposed to cash fare going into travel funds. Doesn't help you now, but anyone else reading this thinking "what happens when I earn CP mid-year and already have flights booked for my companion?" Note that in the prior advice although you can change companion periodically, you can't change it while you have future trips booked for the current companion - It's a minor point unless the flight you have in the future for the future companion is full already. If you have November flights booked for a spouse, you can't change companion in July to a child while keeing the November booking for spouse.

So you could conceivably have four different companions in a year -- the first plus three changes. Yes, you can convert travel funds into a voucher that can be used by anyone. You have to wait til the travel funds expire, and then there's a $100 fee. That's unadvertised, but what we hear on the community to be the current offer. Best case as @dfwskier says is if she takes a solo flight sometime and can use the funds. Also consider if she would join one of your trips in progress or leave early instead of only using companion tickets. (Book one-ways to facilitate this setup.) I'm only confused by one part - you shouldn't have had to cancel your own flight to add the companion. It doesn't sound lke it will be an issue for you to use the travel funds anyway, but you should have been able to add a companion to your own flight without rebooking.

Good luck PLS being international the airline may be expecting you to take a little longer connecting for customs most likely, also you would be clearing and rechecking luggage. But I'm wondering if situations like these result in a majority of lost luggage, and I just got really lucky. I'm into big data and this would be very interesting if we had the database to go through. IMO and not supported by any data, only looking at things from a predictive standpoint, connections add one opportunity for bags to miss a flight. Also checking bags way early allows them to be hanging out and overlooked. Checking them way late allows them to go on different flights but I wouldn't say to go missing. Changing itinerary I think is fine, as @bec102896 mentioned having someone call down to find your bag and mark it with new itinerary was great! Otherwise they come to the airport later. I've seen varying levels of Southwest staff clearing the carousels: Some of the smaller airports they are out there collecting yoru stuff right away - go to the bathroom even and the baggage office already has corraled your items.
