Our Mile High Heart is beating for Colorado and we’re showing the community all the love as we head into the holiday season. Thursday night we came together to celebrate, rock out, and thank our Colorado Customers and partners with an evening of fun with musicians The Reminders and Quinn XCII.
As part of the Mile High Heart Beats sweepstakes, Colorado Rapid Rewards Members had the opportunity to enter a sweepstakes to win a variety of prizes including their share of 15 million Rapid Rewards bonus points and tickets to see the concert.
And while Southwest Airlines is an airline, some of our best work is done on the ground in the communities we serve. Our Mile High Heart beats for our local partners who are focused on continuing to make Colorado one of the best places to live, work, and play. During a brief break in the concert, we surprised the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Colorado, Junior Achievement Rocky Mountain, and Special Olympics Colorado with a $20,000 donation to each of their organizations allowing them to focus on their missions.
For nearly 17 years, Southwest has played a pivotal role in the Denver community. Today, we’re one of the largest employers in the state with more than 5,400 Employees who call Colorado Home. We wouldn’t be where we are today without the support of our Colorado Customers and community partners.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our sweepstakes and we look forward to celebrating even more successes in Colorado in the near future.

Are you looking for a career with Heart? Southwest Airlines is hiring, and we want to meet you! Whether you’re actively searching for a job or passively keeping tabs on opportunities available to you, we want you to know us too. We asked Bill Tierney, Vice President of Marketing & Digital Experience, to share why he loves his job, the People he works with, and Southwest! We hope his words inspire you and share insight into our Company’s culture, Values, and goals.
I’ve always loved meeting with and talking to new Cohearts. While every conversation is different, one question that I’m frequently asked is, “Why do you love your job?” The first thing that comes to mind is the People I get to work with every day, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t love the work I do every day too. I’ve been lucky enough to help shape the connections so many people have with the Southwest Brand.
Through these conversations, I’ve reflected on many of the things we’ve achieved. One thing that stands out to me is the work from our Teams when they established the new iteration of the Southwest Brand. So, I thought I’d share a little bit of the meaning we put into our Brand, and explore the meaning of the colors in our Southwest Heart.
The Warm Red, which is intentionally the most prominent color in the Heart, represents the warmth of our Hospitality and the Customer Service we deliver each day.
The Bold Blue represents our innovative Southwest Spirit and our focus to improve continuously—ready for what lies ahead!
The Sunrise Yellow reminds us that our future is always bright and, by coming together as a Team, we’re able to conquer challenges as they arise.
The Summit Silver is captured in the lines of the Heart. The silver lines and border represent the precision with which we work each day to get the job done across our network.
When these colors form together, they create our Southwest Heart. It’s a wonderful representation of what’s ultimately our Southwest Brand—our People! I feel lucky to learn from our People every day.
I’m proud of our Teams and the work they’ve produced the past 24 months even during a global pandemic. We also continue to grow as a Company and add to our Southwest Family this year! In fact, you could join our Marketing Department. We’ve devoted part of our careers website to sharing the benefits of a career with Southwest. Visit our Marketers with Heart page to learn more and register to receive updates when new opportunities become available. You can also explore our already available opportunities by visiting our Marketing jobs page. Please stay in touch as we continue to grow and share our Southwest Heart with the world.
Sincerely,
Bill Tierney
Vice President, Marketing & Digital Experience

What is a birthday party without presents and a few surprises? To celebrate Southwest Airlines’ 50th Anniversary, Southwest surprised and delighted Customers at our home airport, Dallas Love Field, with a celebration that embodied the true Southwest fun-LUVing spirit and gratitude for our Customers on this momentous occasion.
From June 1 through June 18, Customers had the chance to engage with Southwest online to win prizes through a baggage claim-themed sweepstakes. This past Friday, Southwest brought that online experience to life at Dallas Love Field on Southwest’s newly-themed holiday Wanna Get Away Day on June 18 (Southwest’s Anniversary).
As Southwest Customers approached the baggage claim area, they were surprised and delighted with a baggage carousel full of 50th-themed gift boxes. While waiting for their luggage, Customers had the opportunity to select a package and walk away with great prizes ranging from Southwest swag, to 5,000 Rapid Rewards bonus points, to vacation packages from Southwest Vacations.
Thank you to all of our Employees and Customers for all that you have done for #Southwest50. Here is to 50 more!

Our anniversary happens to be June 18 also. Coincidentally, we will be flying HOU > DAL that morning to watch the Rangers game and check off my last missing MLB ballpark (been to 'em all - most via SWA), then DAL > SAT after the game... the original 3 SWA cities on the 50th anniversary 🙂

I have been a customer of SW Airlines for many years even though I am a retiree for another major airline. I had booked a trip from Atlanta to Los Angeles for 10/12/20 when my terminally ill cousin passed. I canceled the ticket ($153.97) and was told it was good for a year from the travel date. When I called on 9/28/20 to get it converted to points I was told it had expired 9/18/20 because it is good for a year from the purchase date and it had to be redeem by 9/7/20. Even with the Covid19 issues and persons not feeling safe to travel that put that type of time restriction on redeeming points. Now I have been told that they are going to take $100 of that $153.97 fare. I have been having some serious health issues and going to doctor after doctor while still working two jobs to try to keep my new home just purchased 3/19/20 and can't afford to loose $100! They are being very unfair, and not unfeeling about this whole situation. I am telling everyone I know to re-think their relationship with Southwest ...they have no LUV for their customers!!

Not surprised. I've enjoyed being a customer of SW. Not every flight get the A-plus, but I know you're trying.

It is during difficult times that the strength of our Family can be felt the most. At the heart of our brand is our People; and the symbol of our brand is our Heart. As I hear and see stories about our Southwest People navigating our most current challenge, it reminds me of the meaning behind our Heart. Did you know that each color in the Southwest Heart represents something about our Brand?
The warm red, which is intentionally the most prominent color in the Heart, represents the warmth of our Hospitality and the Customer Service we deliver each day.
The bold blue represents our innovative Spirit and our focus to constantly be better. To always be ready for what lies ahead!
The summit silver is captured in the lines of the Heart. The silver lines and border represent the precision with which we work each day to get the job done across our network.
The sunrise yellow is there to remind us that our future is always bright. Don’t ever forget that even in difficult and dark times, we know we will do what it takes to manage through a challenging situation—and the sun will eventually rise.
When all of that is brought together in the form of our Southwest Heart, it is a wonderful representation of what is ultimately our Southwest Brand—our People!
I sincerely thank each and every Employee for all you are doing each day!

Sam, the flight attendant on Flight 1822 Chicago to Denver today is awesome. He went above and beyond the call of duty to make sure I was comfortable. I was a little under the weather. Thanks again!
