I have the Chase Sapphire Preferred card. Several times I have transferred points from my Chase Travel Points account to my Rapid Rewards account. The transfer is almost immediate and the transferred points work the same way as Rapid Reward points. If I reschedule a flight for a lower fare and am entitled to get points back, they go to my Rapid Rewards account. It is not possible to return the points to the Chase account. I have not had any problems.

I contacted Southwest once many years ago (using the link at the bottom of the page) and suggested that Early Bird Check in be re-named Early Bird Boarding Position Assignment. That would eliminate some of the confusion. The customer is getting a boarding position assigned at T-36, but still must check in at T-24. Send an e-mail to the customer at T-36 saying something like "you've been assigned your boarding position. Remember that you must still check in 24 hours before your flight to get your boarding pass and see your boarding position."
That being said, I have definitely noticed that EBCI boarding positions are moving further and further back in line.

I have done this. I called and the first CSA said it couldn't be done without cancelling and rebooking. So, I called again and the second CSA knew the trick of how to do it and was able to add EBCI without the cancel-and-rebook hassle. That would suggest that not all CSAs know how to make this happen??????

Funny you should mention this. 2 weeks ago an 800 outbound and a 700 inbound. The outbound flight on the 800 seemed to bounce around more, but I attributed it to turbulence rather than to the aircraft itself.

Each individual has to make a decision whether EBCI is worth it to him/her or not. I almost always decide it is worth it because I don't have to watch the clock or set an alarm to check in at T-24.

I have a flight to Florida booked in February and the fare has dropped 3 times since I made the reservation in late October. Keep checking the website. Flights sometimes drop in price for only a few days then go higher again. Also remember if you have a round-trip reservation and the price drops on only one leg, you can do a change on that leg only.

Native New Englander here. It is often chilly in the spring (40s in southern New England, 30s in the north). It will snow during the month of March but the snow will melt fairly quickly. What are you looking to do?
I agree that fall is better.

Maybe she should have boarded by herself and saved 3 seats?

I changed airports from Providence to Hartford for the same reasons you had. Called Customer Service and the flights were changed immediately. Maybe you had an inexperienced Rep?
BTW, in my experience the Southwest Reps are always pleasant and easy to work with. Kudos to them all!

I fly out of BDL (Hartford) and PVD (Providence).
PVD has 3 parking garages...2 owned by the airport and one that was owned by the airport but is now privately owned. I park in the private garage (called Red Beam Garage C). It is a good deal cheaper than the others and is still on airport property. There are very few off-site lots at PVD. If I stay overnight the night before I stay at the Holiday Inn Express.
BDL has a parking garage and 4 lots scattered around airport property. The garage is expensive. In winter I park in the garage as things can get brutal around here. In other times of year I park in what's called Express Lot 1. It is next to the terminal and not a long walk. If there is a shuttle waiting I take that, if not I walk. There are a lot of off-site lots at BDL, and I have friends who always use the Parking Spot. For overnight stays I use LaQuinta.

I had booked 6 seats from PVD to MCO in late June. The outbound flight was changed from 12:10 PM to 5:00 AM. Not a good time with 2 young kids. None of the other PVD-MCO flights were acceptable so I looked at other airports in the area and I found inbound and outbound flights from BDL instead. Called customer service and made the change. They were very accommodating AND I got 6,000 RR points back in the process.

I have been flying Southwest for years and this has never come up for me. My daughter, her husband and 2 daughters ages 9 and 6 are flying next week. Can they all board during family boarding or will 2 of them have to board at their assigned position? Also, do they have to go to the desk at the gate to get special boarding passes to board during family boarding? Thanks!!

lt looks like Spirit and Delta have non-stop flights from New Orleans to Los Angeles, which would take care of fear #1. I'd go Delta as Spirit can be uncomfortable.

Flew this morning from Fort Myers to Hartford. There were 3 people on the plane wearing masks including my neighbor. My wife and I did wipe down the seat, armrests, seathack in front of us, tray table, wall next to me, shade, all the call buttons and vents. Not the only passengers doing this. The FA came around just before takeoff collecting wipes.

I have rebooked several times due to price decreases and have gotten error messages. I've found that the best way to do it is to call and talk to a real person.

I usually try to get the first flight out to my destination, which means it could be a 5:00 or 6:00 AM flight, so I have to get up pretty early to get to the airport. EBCI is worth it to me because I don't have to get up at 5:00 or 6:00 the day before the as well. It's all a matter what is worthwhile to you.

My wife and I both paid for Precheck so both go to that line. However, I had a hip replacement and request a full-body scan. She goes through the regular scanning line. We are separated at that point, but meet up after security. Being separated is not a big deal for us as we know where to meet up.

I picked my bag off the belt late one night in Orlando and one of the wheels was halfway off. Fell off completely as I was going to the car rental area. I was not aware of the four-hour rule and reported it the next morning. SWA would not replace the bag but did give me a $75 credit for future travel which I am using this weekend, in fact!

I had a flight booked from FLL to PVD with one stop that left FLL at 6:00 PM. The departure time was changed to 5:40. That opened the door for me to book a nonstop on the same day at 10:50 am FOR 4,000 FEWER POINTS! Thanks, Southwest!

"SW says seats cannot be saved" Not true. SW has no policy on saving seats, as many hundreds of posts here will attest.

My wife has arthritic knees and must get up and walk up and down the aisle several timed during each flight. Thus, she needs an aisle seat at the front or back of the plane. To quote Southwest's rule: [She has] a specific seating need to accommodate [her] disability . We get EBCI as a matter of course as it is worth it to me to not have to watch the clock to check in. Even getting B-20s boarding positions we have never had a situation where we have not gotten the seat arrangement she needs. We could probably get early boarding based on her seating need, but it really isn't necessary. If only some of the people who use early boarding would think "is this really necessary or is there another way to get the seat I need" it could reduce the number of preboarders and the stigma that is attached to them throughout these forums.

SWA really should come up with better terminology regarding EBCI as people who do not fly often post to this forum confused about the 36 vs 24 hour thing. Maybe something to the effect of "Early Bird Check-in automatically assignes your boarding position 36 hours before your flght. However, you will still have to check in 24 hours (or less) before your flight. You will find out what your boarding position is when you check in." Or, although it would be a massive undertaking, change Early Bird Check-in to Early Bird Seat Assignment.

Between the time you were automatically checked in and you checked in your husband, the person who was checked in at A30 cancelled and that boarding position became available. That is part of the chance you take when you use EBCI.
