My husband and I were on a flight from Denver to ft Lauderdale to catch a cruise ship for transatlantic cruise April 15. We were supposed to ONLY have a short layover in Nashville. Not 5 minutes after we landed we were in formed that we needed to get our personal things, get off the plane, go see a gate agent ,this flight is CANCELLED! in that order. Since there weren't any more available flights that night( we tried) we were booked on one the next morning but the arrival time to FLL was iffy. We are both 75 years old, (what did they want us to do???sleep in a chair or on the floor?)so after talking to the gate agent, she said to get a hotel room. We did and want SWA to reinburse us for the hotel since they were100 % responsible for the flight being cancelled.
Sorry to hear of your troubles. Southwest may not be 100% responsible for the cancelled flight. Now if the plane broke or they ;didn't have a crew,
then yup Southwest is 100% responsible.. However if was an act of God, ie bad weather for example that caused the cancellation, then only God is responsible. Do you know why the flight was cancelled?
. So far, they have given us 2 vouchers which is fine and good, but they need to take responsibility for their actions, and in our book they ARE NOT. The vouchers are worth more than the cost of the hotel.
Would you have been happier if SW had paid for the hotel and not given you the vouchers? Come on, Southwest made you more than whole.
For years, we have defended SWA anytime anyone has had a negative comment about them. We are still "fighting" with them about the cost. Right now, I can say SWA customer service SUCKS, they don't care about stranded passengers. They just think that the vouchers will smooth over any hard feelings, ane we will continue to fly with them! but in this house that is NOT the case. They are other airlines that will get me to where I want and need to go. BTW....once we finally got to FLL, and the cruise port, we were the last two passengers to board.
Well, I am happy to hear that you made it to your cruise. This type of thing happens on every airline, and they all would have treated you about the same way that Southwest did.
I guess I'd advise that you complain in writing. You might get another voucher. No airline, including Southwest, would give you cash. To compalin, click on "contact us" below and pick the e-mail option.
Good luck

Are they 2 separate reservations or is your connection really what they call a direct flight where you stop somewhere but don’t change planes?
if it is a flight that stops and you don’t change planes you wouldn’t have a 2nd boarding pass
I doesn't sound like a connection. He said he arrives one day, but the second flight is the next day.

Sounds like you don't have a connection, but instead have 2 different flights.
The reason I say that is that Southwest doesn't let anyone book a connection with flights on different days. (unless for example one gets in at 11:30 pm while the next departs at 1 am).
Given that, yes you do need to check in for the second flight.

Hi all! I have tried to find this but have been unsuccessful so apologies if this info is obviously available somewhere.
I am just wondering the following:
1) Can same-day changes for A-List members be made on the phone or must you speak to a gate agent
Either way works
2) Can you use the same-day change for bookings made with points?
Yup, points or dollars it makes no difference
3) Can you change to a LATER flight or must it be an earlier flight on the same day?
Since you are dealing with a confirmed change it can be on any flight with an open seat.
Thanks!

My flight leaves at 6:40 AM. Info for ABQ airport says the ticket counter opens 60 mins. before the first departing flight. Sooooo how do I know when the first departing flight is, in order to know when the ticket counter opens? I think there is *probably* an earlier flight than mine but who knows, and I don't want to get there super early just to stand in line outside the ticket counter.
So why not just show up at the ticket counter at 5:40?

The point I was trying to make is that I don't think SW has a way of identifying TFs created as a result using a voucher versus TFs created by any combination of TFs and cash.
I do know that if you cancel a flight paid for at least in part by a voucher, and then cancel that flight, that you will get a TF back and not a voucher.

I am not absolutely certain of this but...
1) I am only aware of one type of travel fund - so one created by cancelling a flight paid for by voucher looks no different than any other TF
2) If true, that should mean that if you use the voucher to buy a flight and then cancel that flight that you'll get a TF with the same expiration date as the original voucher
3) Which then would allow you to convert back to a voucher in the way you described
Others: feel free to disagree if I am incorrect.

Ticket counters typically open one hour before the first flight of the day is scheduled to depart.
So if yours is the first flight, then the ticket counter should be open by 4:10 am

Any travel funds created by a cancellation will be in the name of the traveler on the initial ticket. So, if the ticket is in your name, then no your husband will not be able to use the travel fund.
However, SW apparently just started a program where you can convert a TF into a voucher, and vouchers can be used by anyone. Normally when SW does this, it charges $100. Thru the end of the year it appears that the $100 fee would be waived. Contact the airline for more details. Just click on "contact us" below and proceed.

Assuming you mean travel funds, no, they can only be used for plane tickets by the originally named passenger.
However, it seems that southwest has an unannounced deal and is giving people the option of converting travel funds into vouchers - without the normal $100 fee. Vouchers cab be used by anyone and are good for 6 months from date of issue.
So if you wait til the end of the year to do this, you'll have a bunch of 2023 time to use the voucher.

Your problem is one of two things:
A) There are no valid connecting flights on the days you want to travel .or.
B) The connections involve more than one plane change. Southwest does not allow 2 or more plane changes on a given routing.
I'd suggest
1) Use the reservation system to find out the time the flight out of Houston is supposed to depart .then.
2) Do the same to find out the time your flight to Houston is supposed to arrive in Houston
If your arrival in Houston is too close to the departure from Houston, then the problem is A above
If your flight to Houston requires a plane change, then your problem is B above

It seemed like pre-Covid, Southwest had at least daily one direct flight from San Diego to Seattle and vice versa. I go to San Diego 6+ times/year for work/family and I always have to have a pit stop in San Jose/Oakland typically. I would believe there is enough business for a direct flight but does anyone have any idea if Southwest will ever resume direct flights to/fro San/Sea? Tempted to move to Alaska Airlines for this route alone (once companion pass runs out).
The problem is that Southwest is severely short of planes. Since the 737 fiasco started Southwest continued retiring planes that were at the end of their useful lives, and for most of that time Boeing delivered ZERO new planes and only now is delivering at about half the rate it was before the fiasco started. Further, SW added about 20 new cities to it's map.
Your route may come back as SW adds new planes to it's fleet. You can tell the airline you want the route back by clicking on ""contact us" below and proceeding.
In the mean time, don't turn yourself into a pretzel with your loyalty to Southwest. If another airline better serves your travel needs, then fly the other airline.

Agree.
Apparently there is enough difference between the various OS versions that it would be very difficult to support them all. So SW doesn't try. The last time I looked, it appeared that the app runs on about 95% of the newest OS versions, and does not on the remaining - older - versions.
