waiting to see if that happens. I see that as that intense situation that I don't think anybody wants to be in. When all window and aisle seats are taken, that flyer that has to ask a row" Is that middle seat taken has got to have internal anxiety. Not to mention, the two people who have to respond. Since I'm A list, I will always be on first, and glad that won't be me asking, but I'm sure, (since I am normally in the coveted first 10 rows, will be asked. It's not what I want, but it's coming

I try and wear both hats when thinking about some of my answers in the forum. Sometimes you as a business have to make the hard decision. What I might offer to SWA is that yes, these are uncertain times and sometimes things are Yellow and Red. With that said, yes, it's a contract and you as the purchaser are bound to the contract. However, I've just decided that I'm not flying to Hawaii in February. When I purchased the tickets back in June, I thought by Feb there we would be flying the skies like normal with no issues insight. I was wrong. So I understand the contract and SWA need to keep losing millions to a minimum, then sweeten my pot that won't hurt you in the long run. Maybe give an option, the money back, (if it was a refundable ticket), or sweeten my pot. SWAFlyer, your ticket has a value of 10,000 points, we will allow you to defer your flight to a later date with no refund, and up your point value to 15,000 RR points. Hummmm, ok, I like that, lets do it, Maybe things will open up by May 2021 and I 5,000 more points to put towards somebody else to fly with me.

@frenchie213 So what happened when you call Customer Service like Blake suggested. Please don't be one of those that get on here and complain, (and hoping to possibly get restitution) yet never come back and leave the readers not knowing the final results, even if it no result.

I will admit, I've never tried or used the price match. With that said, your picture looks just like the page when I go directly to Booking.com and not through SWA. So it is Booking..com. And just like those that have issues with the Southwest vacation packages on here, it's that company, not SWA. So SWA hasn't given you any misinformation, however, maybe should consider another 3rd party for booking hotels. The only difference when I go through SWA to book is you get confirmed you will get SWA points.

More than once I've double booked a flight but the computer catches it. To my benefit it sure was thankful. But I don't think that may help you. So now there are 10 extra empty seats, but if you're near the front of the plane where the majority of people like to sit to get off, there still is that chance "I'm going to take the middle seat." so that I can get off the plane and on my way. Which now means you just benefitted 11 other people and not yourself.

I rarely find it appropriate to boast about a competitor on another business's website, but in this case, it's that rare time. I would normally just say, "another airline," or something like that, but this deserves applaud that I think even SWA should appreciate. I guess it would be a bit much to ask or find out how many SWA have done this to. Great job, DELTA.

when I was talking with the phone agent, they admitted that the intent was for A-List and Companion to get on together, but the software couldn't make that work. But they did also say that they are working on fixing that. when it will happen? I do as mentioned, I get on and save that spot for my companion, and it works well. I also encourage that you get the boarding pass number right in the first minute that the 24-hour window opens. That way you're not saving a seat for a C-31 boarding pass companion.

I can only answer for a year ago, not during COVID times, but, YES. I was in Phoenix and visited the famous, Lo Lo's Fried chicken place. I had some leftover deep-fried catfish and some chicken leftover. I did get them through the TSA. It was a gratifying feeling that I was going to be able to not have to throw them away. But I also felt bad that when I ate it on the plane that everyone had to smell the mouthwatering aroma of the food.

I got the boost, and it did help, I've already got the A-List and will get the companion this month. Thank you SWA

@M3WAState I understand your pain for a child and keeping the mask on, the same with me, I'm 64 and still want to just yank the thing off and take a deep breath. But let me just share this. On a major network this morning, they were interviewing a couple who just lost their 5-year-old to COVID. A healthy young lady, no underlying issues, however, was African American. PLEASE, PLEASE, as much as it may be problematic, keep your 5-year-old in a mask. All life is precious.

@dfwskier Yes, I've read that stat you've posted many times. Maybe I'm just hoping for the best, but am ready for the worst. And yes, I've stopped driving. My UBER bill was higher than my airline flight bill last month.

@bec102896 Good read, thanks. It just brought up another question. "The new policy, which means middle seats will once again be filled on flights with strong demand, takes effect Dec. 1, after Thanksgiving but ahead of the Christmas and New Year's travel season." Is, "strong demands," just a blanket statement, or do they already know what flights are "strong demands?" If so, why not publish those they feel are strong demands. So does this mean those that aren't strong demands, won't have the middle seat occupied? And if so, why not publish them.

@kerlimeke75 I don't know if you have already flown or not, but here are some thoughts. If your travel isn't before Dec 1, then don't pay for the early boarding if you're limited in funds. If you're not, then it could be a good option. The main key is this! Since you can't check in until 24 hours prior to the flight takeoff, get all your information into the "Check-In" tab 5 min prior to the 24 check-in time. Wait, and the moment that the clock hits exactly 24 hours, click check-in and you should get a decent boarding number that will allow you a window seat in the middle to back part of the plane. Chances are you could be like my wife who often gets between A-40 to A-60. Bags are subjective. But if they aren't really OVERSIZED, you should be able to get it on, but it has to be able to fit, without trouble, into the overhead bin.

@TheMiddleSeat Yes, this is very true. I've adjusted to the 26th because in watching my points I've seen that it will 95% of the time be posted in 3 days, thus the 29 or 30, (for those months of 30) Fortunately, Dec is 31 days. I've adjusted it down from the 28, for a while, and the 27th, and found this to be a safe bet. But if you want to be totally sure, when I had it on the 24th, it always was posted by the end of the month in any month, including, FEB. But FEB is irrelevant because it really doesn't matter if that month is posted in March or not.

@Rjordon She would be correct, I just responded on the other post. Since I see you're entire intent is really more about revenge, I'm actually sad that somewhat agreed with you on the other post. I think I'm like many people, we agree that people should express their concerns and issues, but when it's about revenge, you lose our support. If you ended up going to pick them up, I'm wondering why you were making them fly down anyway. If that was the case, my grandchild, knowing they would wear a mask....I'm already on the road to get them.

@Rjordon The keyword (or number in this case) is Let me tell you what this airline did in Atlanta! My daughter in law is 19 with a 2-year-old, my grandson. I won't repost the policy, but yes, it's that same on SWA and multiple airlines. I'm not a child psychologist, but I think you can have some control over your own children, even in the case of a mask. (Or at least long enough to get to a seat and sneak it off for a bit) I've flown 12 flights now since the pandemic start of March. On every flight is a child, some that appear to be around the age of 2ish. Those kids seemed to be able to comply. I'm not saying every kid will be receptive to a mask, heck, I'm not even receptive to it. As was mentioned, this is a peer to peer group and I don't have the answer. What I do agree with you is that "maybe" a little more leniency towards children could be extended.

Since I didn't do the 2,000 spend sign-up credit card I can't say if you're the only one that this happened to, or this was the plan for the credit card company all along. What I do know, is since you travel so much and will be moving to other airlines to do so, (based on your stated nights of travel) Get ready to rack up thousands of miles points from the cost of checking bags on the other airlines.

@Berlin77 You, like many of us, have had to face the hardships of loved ones with a medical condition, I'm not taking that point lightly. But with that said, that is a part of life for all of us, and I'm sure, have had to bite the bullet on one cost or another to get to hospitals and funerals because of it. You seem to blame SWA, yet they gave you and out months ago. They are still offering an avenue, albeit, at a cost. Let me say this if you wrote to the IRS this year about this same hardship and was sorry that you couldn't get your taxes in on time and asked for an extension without penalty, what do you think would be their reply? Or a credit card company, or your mortgage company? I'm wishing your son the best, but blaming SWA isn't the true answer here.

As the end of the year approaches and people are still a bit reluctant to fly when all seats open on December 1st. Here is what I plan to do that will help secure my companion pass for all of 2021. I post this because it might help you as well. Since you only have 2 months left for a credit card billing cycle, you will need to do these things: 1) If it isn't already, move your billing cycle date towards the end of the 3rd week of the month. Mine is always on the 26th. (Because of FEB) 2) For the next two months, purchase flights that you may use, most will not be used before December 31st, (You get double points on flight purchases) 3) About a week prior to the flight, cancel the trip and have the money go into your travel funds to be used one year from when you purchased the tickets. (Because SWA doesn't charge you for any changes and cancelation, you get the full amount of the ticket forwarded to your account) Since I'm sitting at 121,117 points of the 125,000. I need 3,883 points to get next year's companion pass. I can conceivably do this and not have to fly another flight since I put other charges on my card, (grocery shopping, car gas, insurance, home electric, phone, home gas, home water, and XMAS shopping) This has worked for me for multiple years. One year I put everybody's shopping charges of over 12,000 on my card to build up the points from it and they repaid me, but I got that companion. It's worked for me and I hope this might help somebody else out. if there are other tips that people know of without having to get a credit card, please post them. I do suggest you cancel your flight at least a week prior to the trip to give SWA a full opportunity of selling that seat, please.

JUST FYI, research has shown that we are in one of the biggest waves of the pandemic since it started in the U.S. in the majority of the states SWA flies to. Maybe a reconsideration of selling middle seats is in order. Did I mention, it's the worse it's ever been? So we fly without middle seats during the lean months, but include the middle seat when it's at it's highest????

@Jd6956 As everyone else, we are sorry to hear of this incident. Sadly, instead of enjoying the view from the window, my flights are like yours, seeing if I can catch those without a mask. Sad, but true. I've not really been able to. What I do notice here, and yes, this is going to seem a bit political, but on flights that are to and from states where government leans towards a certain party that really aren't backing the science of mask-wearing, there seem to be these complaints. NO, I have no solution other than to tell you that I won't fly to those areas, PERIOD. I'm a runner, and there are some good running events coming up in Florida that I don't even entertain because of the lack of enforcement and attitude towards masks. And I love running in Florida very much. So like you, I had to take all that into consideration since I have a medical condition of concern as well. I know my issue doesn't compare to the need to see someone with cancer, but it's the reality of life right now. To be honest, I've been in the back of the plane about 5 years ago where a young lady was doing one of those electronic cigs and was disgusted that she got away with it as long as she did. And the way it was handled was an announcement over the intercom, not a personal confrontation. I mention that to say, yes, I do know that F.A. don't always address issues head-on. I wish the person who is ill the best and hope for a recovery.
