Went through all my WOW50 bookings...Nabbed a $39 flight that was a little better than the WOW50 deal by just under $17. Got the flight credit!
That trip flies out of ONT and the value of the flight credit is only a buck under the $18 daily price for economy parking at ONT. After a little bit of shifting finances, $1 parking for me...

Hello,
I'm taking my first solo flight this Wednesday but I realized that I do not have any government-issued IDs right now, (I had an issue at the DMV and was told I would get a replacement mailed but never did). I'm really nervous I won't be let onto my flight. I have a certified copy of my birth certificate with me and my driver's permit, would that be enough certification to get me on my plane?
Hi! Birth Certificate unfortunately cannot be used as ID at the TSA checkpoint. However, they have interview/identity check process for your case. Here is TSA's policy which I assume your case would fall under "Forgot your ID".
Forgot Your ID? In the event you arrive at the airport without valid identification, because it is lost or at home, you may still be allowed to fly. The TSA officer may ask you to complete an identity verification process which includes collecting information such as your name, current address, and other personal information to confirm your identity. If your identity is confirmed, you will be allowed to enter the screening checkpoint. You will be subject to additional screening, to include a patdown and screening of carry-on property.
You will not be allowed to enter the security checkpoint if your identity cannot be confirmed, you choose to not provide proper identification or you decline to cooperate with the identity verification process.
TSA recommends that you arrive at least two hours in advance of your flight time.
https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/identification
Although not a valid ID to pass through TSA, I would still bring your Birth Certificate and any DMV/utility paperwork as a supporting documents and arrive at the TSA checkpoint 2 hours prior to departure so they can complete the required identity check and secondary inspections.

SoCalFlyer97's October line up of Southwest Hotels Rapid Rewards Points Plus room reservations continues! Five one-nighters at Five different hotels during this month...
The third of the five stops is just about everybody's favorite no-frills stop...Motel 6.
I stayed at the budget inn located in Corona CA, not too far from ONT.
Motel 6 has its own loyalty program known as My6 and they tried to rope me into signing up with a 5%-off offer for a $62 room when I was doing my hotel shopping. However, I've still opted to book via Southwest Hotels as the latter offer was a 500 Rapid Rewards bonus for the $62 weekday base room rate with free cancelation. Paid only $69 total for the stay after taxes. Rewards payback value toward future airfare is about $7.50 or a 12% return, more than twice the value of the My6 deal.
The Southwest Hotels booking process was glitch-free again! That's three for three! They located my reservation on check-in day and checked my ID. No incidentals deposit. Since I prepaid, got the room in less than two minutes of walking in the lobby door.
It looked like local motel staff were trying to emulate Southwest staff on taking care of their customers. They have a good crew over at Corona who takes care of the motel guests, but what about the motel's location and overnight safety? A TripAdvisor review is forthcoming on the detailed motel experience.
Up next, Hotel #4. This time, in San Diego which is not too far from SAN. Spent the night on a Friday for Saturday morning function in the Pacific Beach area; SoCalFlyer97 dodged the surging weekend tourist rates via Southwest Hotels. Did SW Hotels deliver four for four by not glitching up the booking process? Stay tuned!

I have no knowledge of this retired aircraft. Thus, can't opine. However, Wikipedia has a section documenting why it was retired. According to the docs, this aircraft appeared to be an expensive, very noisy gas guzzler of a jet:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Concorde
Concorde had considerable difficulties that led to its dismal sales performance. Costs had spiralled during development to more than six times the original projections, arriving at a unit cost of £23 million in 1977 (equivalent to £152.02 million in 2021).[38] Its sonic boom made travelling supersonically over land impossible without causing complaints from citizens.[39] World events had also dampened Concorde sales prospects; the 1973–74 stock market crash and the 1973 oil crisis had made many airlines cautious about aircraft with high fuel consumption rates, and new wide-body aircraft, such as the Boeing 747, had recently made subsonic aircraft significantly more efficient and presented a low-risk option for airlines.[40] While carrying a full load, Concorde achieved 15.8 passenger miles per gallon of fuel, while the Boeing 707 reached 33.3 pm/g, the Boeing 747 46.4 pm/g, and the McDonnell Douglas DC-10 53.6 pm/g.[41] An emerging trend in the industry in favour of cheaper airline tickets had also caused airlines such as Qantas to question Concorde's market suitability.

SoCalFlyer97's full scheduled line up of Southwest Hotels Rapid Rewards Points Plus room reservations continues! Five one-nighters at Five different hotels all over California.
The second of the five stops took place during my trip to SJC at the Wyndham Garden San Jose Airport under a decent deal through Southwest Hotels: 2,000 points for $109 room ($126 after taxes).
The Southwest Hotels booking process was perfect. That's two for two!
The hotel's check-in had about a 10-12 minute line queue when I walked in the door (not sure what choked up the process) but there were zero problems when it was my turn to check in at the desk. They found my reservation, took an incidental deposit of $100, checked my ID, and I was good to go. Stay includes free parking for one car (though I didn't drive one for this stay...used their free shuttle service to/from SJC instead)...
Had a pleasant experience there but don't even think about trying to park on the property unless you're a registered guest with a parking pass. They enforce the guest parking rules and they will tow if you're not entitled to be there.
A TripAdvisor review is forthcoming on the detailed hotel experience. But that's two for two for Southwest Hotels booking!
Up next...Hotel #3 is back in SoCal. Staying over at a place not too far from ONT. Will Southwest Hotels deliver once more without problem? Stay tuned!

Hello everybody!
SoCalFlyer97 went to SJC a few days ago. Playful spooks arrived at SAN's Southwest ticket and gate counters with some even "boarding" the flight. Had some good times at my second of five hotels of my Five One Nighters at Five Inns journey. And Southwest's Operations saves my return flight home from cancellation following a last-minute staff emergency. Here's the rundown...
Halloween Decorations: Southwest was the only airline in all of SAN's Terminal 1 that I saw with the fun and festive fall décor. Here are some of the decorated gate CSA counters:
Outbound Flight:
Plane: 737-MAX8, Full Flight, On Time Preboarders: 2
Here are the two spooks that came along for the ride with one of them even greeting passengers at the forward entry door.
I'm sure they both buckled up too whenever the seatbelt light was on...
Go Remy's!
Overcast over Silicon:
Welcome to San Jose!
Upon arrival, I had some extra time; stayed airside to observe when the A-Listers were cleared to board at other gates in between the A and B Groups per the respective topic thread.
Took care of some business. At the MLK Library.
Don't delay this bird's flight plans!
The lodge...
Details to come in the Five One Nighters at Five Inns thread!
Return Flight:
Plane: 737-MAX8, 57% Full, Initially behind 15 minutes Preboarders: 6
Crossed through the TSA Checkpoint and won their random secondary inspection lottery via the PreCheck Lane. The selected random secondary was a 20-second body scan inspection instead of going through PreCheck's metal detectors but I was allowed to keep my shoes and belt on.
Once I found out that the inbound plane was going to be 15 minutes late, I tracked it via Flight Aware and determined it was safe to go to an empty gate to get some work done until it showed. It departed from PHX. Came back to the gate once the tracker showed that the aircraft landed.
And then, right at the 15 minute mark, the Gate Ops Agent announced that the First Officer for our flight had an emergency and had to return to his home city...Indefinite hold on the flight.
He kept the mood positive in the gate area and kept the passengers updated on the Operations Department progress of finding a replacement FO. During the uncertainty, I checked the Southwest App and confirmed the next departing flight had seats available online via Same Day Flight Change in case they had to scrap the flight which would have been the worst case scenario. I decided to wait for the update on the FO. About 15 minutes later, the agent announced that one was found "somewhere" in the airport and was reassigned to our flight. Hurray!
A short while after that, he arrives and everybody in the gate area clapped in cheer, knowing our flight was good to go!
After the crews did their preflight checks, we all lined up to board. FA's assisted with getting everybody seated and spread out. After that entire ordeal, we left the gate and had one last obstacle: about a 12 minute tarmac hold due to air traffic at SAN. And finally...
After we got off the ground, the flight recovered a bunch of time en-route and was only 40 minutes behind schedule upon landing at SAN! As far as I'm aware, people who had connections still made them with time to spare!
Southwest Operations did a fantastic job at saving my return flight. What could have been a terrible last-minute flight disruption turned out to be only a moderate delay thanks to the teamwork and doing-what-ever-it-takes principle.
I've sent a compliment email over Southwest Customer Service. The Ops Agent, FO and the entire flight staff are certainly due a praise.
Next scheduled trip is in November.
Safe Travels!

However, my next trip in November booked w/ points had a little price decrease for the outbound trip; thus got back 771 Rapid Rewards points 😊.

What do I do?
Hello-
As @dfwskier mentioned, one account per individual. However, this is where it gets complex and I think your HR department or supervisor may be place to check.
I don't think your employer is allowed to fully control or have custody of an individual's Rapid Rewards account according to Southwest Policy. I also do not think a business is allowed to be enrolled under an individual Rapid Rewards account nor can the points earned can be pooled with other members. They would need to use the Southwest Business Assist to manage employee flights.
However, regarding the usage rights of the points themselves that were generated from company use for company use, I think employers are allowed to have policy in place to restrict use if they have the resources to manage and account for the points that were accumulated from business travel and points spent on business travel.
This is where it gets a little complex because it would be wrong for an employer to restrict use of flyer points earned from personal travel for future personal travel. Many companies like my employer don't have the resources to track such use and allow the employee to use the points earned from business for personal use.
I'm not a lawyer and cannot provide any definitive answer on this either way but I would first talk with your supervisor or HR department on this and let them know you intend to use Southwest and the Rapid Rewards program for personal use and that individuals are permitted only one account according to airline policy.

Hello!
I really cannot find or feel a seat padding difference in between the 737-700 and 800/MAX8 fleets. 800/MAX8's do have a little bit of extra seat pitch and width but I generally have a comfortable flight on both the older and newer Southwest planes...Hard for me to compare the padding. However, I don't think the padding difference is due to the 737-700 planes having fewer rows.

One side note: Earlier this summer, I had an issue of no Points Plus options appearing on Southwest Hotels at all. I eventually booked the hotel via Rocket Miles (has similar Southwest point bonuses and points count toward Companion Pass). Speculating the outage was IT-related and not done with intent.

Greetings Everybody from SJC:
Flying today and landed in San Jose a short while ago...I was unable to confirm how the boarding order process went when leaving SAN this morning as my flight was the first to board in the concourse after passing through TSA and I was in the A group.
However, I stayed airside at SJC after arrival and watched some of the other gates board. Here is the order of the A & B in-between'rs that I observed:
WN 791 to STL: A-Listers w/o A position boarded after those needing extra time and Family Boarding, before military...same pattern as described in this topic.
WN 1809 to BUR: A-Listers, Family Boarding, and Military were cleared to board together after those needing extra time...different pattern.
WN 1466 to LAX: A-Listers boarded after those needing extra time but before Family Boarding and military...opposite of what is described.
There you have it. Not going to speculate on the actual policy but I would just be ready one way or another to board when directed to do so. Photo Trip Report to come...

So heres a story of a recent trip. Last week flying from Houston Hobby to MCO I changed my flight and obviously received a higher boarding position as a result and there were no Business upgrades available. So being A-list preferred as I have done several times before when changing flight I line up to go after A-group. A few other fellow A-listers did the same thing, only to be told by the gate agent that A-list boards after family now. Said it was recently changed. Which I have not heard of it, not have any of the flight attendants or gate agents I spoke to. So we had to sit and watch 48 people go ahead of us (yes, I counted) . I sent a complaint to SWA Customer support (which is an oxymoron) and they give me a canned response and no resolution. Has anyone else experienced this or is it like I think and that gate agent had family in that group.
I too have been advised previously that A-List simply follow the back of the A-group (e.g. "A61") as you described if placed at B1 or worse. I cannot confirm this is still the standard process as I'm almost always somewhere in the A group.
I have a flight tomorrow and I'll observe the boarding process at the other Southwest gates as I wait for my flight to see if there was a standard change in the "in-between A & B's" boarding order.
I understand the main purpose of Family Boarding is to ensure there are multiple seats available in an area where a least one parent is able to sit next to the young child. You mentioned there were a total of 48 passengers who boarded after A Group but before A-List. I assume a bunch were in the Family Boarding group for your flight.
It may be possible that because Family sales for your flight were so high that they needed to accommodate and board the families before the A-Listers to ensure the children are able to sit together with their parents/guardians.
I'm speculating that the boarding order change that you had was an exception; as mentioned, I'll be travelling tomorrow and Wednesday and I'll look and take note of the neighboring gates of how they board the groups in between A and B and will post back Thursday.

I booked a flight for Miami from Baltimore. The itinerary should have said Leaving on Oct 4 2023 and Returning October 6, 2023 for two passengers. But without me reading the itinerary I assumed that it was right. On Oct 6,2023 we go to the MIA airport and to my surprised wa told that my flight left the same day I came in. Who does this? Leave 6:55 am to Miami and comes back three hours later? I ask for another boarding pass and was told NO REFUND two hours after the flight departs. Then I was told I could purchase another boarding pass for $1,200. Are they crazy? $1,200 for a two hour ride? I believe I should get a refund. When the customer service lady had me on the phone, she should have ask questions to confirm the Arriving and departing dates. I then had to pay $517.00 to rent a car for a 18 hour drive home. I didn't plan all this for a two day vacation. If this is how Southwest takes care of it's customers, then maybe I should go to another Airline next time and don't worry about points reward. Now My bank account is Overdrawn by $517.00.
Thanks Southwest. What can you do for me before I go tell the world my experience with Southwest?
Hello-
Sounds like that was a terrible surprise emotional shock and oversight. Note that this is a customer-to-customer discussion board and it looks like you already tried to resolve with a Southwest CSA rep at the airport.
As a frequent Southwest customer...unfortunately in case like this, I have to quote Abraham Lincoln on this and state there is no way to dodge the passenger responsibility of confirming the dates during booking. Southwest has a very solid means of communicating reservations from the original confirmation email to the multiple follow up's as trip date approaches. In my opinion, the dates shown on the flight details of each email are very clear. Unfortunately, the CSA's have no obligation to issue a refund in this case.
Going forward, always look at the dates and check it twice regardless of the airline or transportation carrier. I would also save a screenshot of both the flight/fare selection page and the confirmation page as backup.
Should I ever get into a situation like this, I would first go to a quiet area of the airport and let the emotional shock cool down first. Should I ever be quoted $1,200 to standby on a one-way flight, I would check for flight options for the next day and consider looking for and staying in a safe budget hotel somewhere in Miami area overnight for an extra night. I would have not done the car rental option all the way to BWI given the long distance and cost. I assume an 18 hour trip would also require a stopover. As of searching tonight on Southwest's website, a 6:35pm nonstop flight out of MIA to BWI tomorrow 10/9 still had WGA fares available for sale for $373.
Always consider the different options and never make a major travel decision when emotions are high; that could further exacerbate surprise travel disruptions like this. Let the emotions cool down first; that will allow for better Plan-B implementation and execution such as possibly staying over one extra night and booking a much less expensive flight the next day.

Greetings!
SoCalFlyer97's full scheduled line up of Southwest Hotels Rapid Rewards Points Plus room reservations is underway! Five one-nighters at Five different hotels all over California.
The first of the five stops was this past Friday night at the Buena Park Grand Hotel, formerly an Embassy Suites long ago and a former Radisson property. Now an independent hotel undergoing renovations, this inn is located approximately 1/4 mile from the gates of one of California's known destinations: Knott's Berry Farm.
No, I did not attend Knott's Halloween "Scary Farm". Just had some business early the next morning in the neighboring city of Cypress.
The Southwest Hotels booking process was near-flawless. After booking, I've saved the confirmation data to my computer but the actual confirmation email took a couple of hours to make it to my inbox; that was the only 'glitch' during this transaction. In fact upon check-in, the hotel desk clerk quickly found my reservation and noticed that I locked in one of the best deals for this inn via Southwest Hotels...$139 for the base room rate ($158 after taxes) on a Friday night in a busy tourism area...about $50 less than the hotel's regular rate. The booking supported free cancellation up to 48 hours prior. The Points Plus Reward was also 2,000 Rapid Rewards points (about $30 in flight value). Total cost for me at a tourist hotel on a Friday night minus the return-on-points was $128.
For the record: The hotel took an incidental deposit of $150 and included free parking for one car. No resort fee. Additional cars $15/night. My detailed review of the experience should be posted to TripAdvisor within the next couple of days entitled "Classic Luxury Suites Open During Construction".
I received a good question:
@bec102896 wrote:
Have you ever thought about booking hotels though a hotel loyalty program to earn those points and get status for free upgrades and other perks?
I have looked into hotel loyalty programs but have decided that the loyalty goes to Southwest because of the generous return in Rapid Rewards points.
Whenever I "airline" shop between my destination cities, Southwest almost always has the best value in my searches, especially with the flexibility of having multiple direct flight departures per day between my city pairs and the ability to travel out in the morning and return on the same day. The point-to-point system is a big factor. The other discount carriers don't even come close. Combine that with the open seating and generous baggage policies...and more recently, A-List.
Hotel shopping is different for me. I'll sometimes need to stay in areas where one paticular brand may not serve or is priced beyond what I would pay for elsewhere. Also, for very quick one-nighters, a simple no-frills booking will do.
E.g. If I had Hilton loyalty, the closest Hilton hotel for my Buena Park/Cypress stay would have been a DoubleTree hotel just blocks north of the Buena Park Grand Hotel but they also wanted over $270 plus taxes for the room.
To be fair and for the record, Hilton awards 10 points per dollar spent. That would have meant 2,700 points awarded for the $270 spent had I booked that way. However, their point value is about 1/2 cent per point toward a hotel purchase whereas Southwest's Rapid Rewards is about 1.5 cents per point toward a flight purchase. That meant the DoubleTree total cost would have been about $310 cost less 2,700 points ($13.50 value) = $296.50 net cost.
Up next...An overnight weekday stay in the Bay Area somewhere near the SJC airport.
Enjoy!

For me, I'll usually try to sit in any window seat before the row with the "missing" window. Those have the best views in my opinion. Also get to enjoy the best of the buzzsaw during take off on the 737-700 and 800 fleets!
If I have to pass beyond the "missing" window row but before the exit row...still good views with the jet engine to complement.
If all those windows are taken up to the exit row by the time I get on the plane (this can happen even if I have a solid A position but boarding a through-flight with many on board continuing), I'll usually go a few rows back from the exit rows seats as the back is still empty at that point. The wing will be there but will rather complement the views rather than block it.

Sorry to hear you lost your earbuds. It sounds like you've already initiated contact with Southwest and they have overnight-shipped them to you. The charge correctly appears on the statement for the Chase credit card I actually used, but the insurer is giving me a hard time about this discrepancy. Any ideas?
This appears very odd! I would first confirm the confirmation email that you're looking at is correct and a real email from Southwest and not a fake phishing email. Southwest confirmation emails have a subject line that reads "You're going to (City Name) on (Departure Date)! (Confirm #)" and will show your method of payment, traveler's name, and your Rapid Reward account info in the details. Is this the case?
If this flight is still upcoming, you can log into your Rapid Rewards account and have the confirmation resent from there by clicking on the Flight Details and then "Resend Receipt" and see if the correct form of payment shows.
If this is for a past flight, Customer Service would need to resend this. I would call or direct message via Twitter/X Southwest Customer Service with your flight details and request them to look at this and resend the receipt with the correct form of payment used.

Thanks, I do have all my bookings under 'Upcoming trips'. 18 pages of them (only 2 displayed per page).
I'm looking for ALL in one spot, preferably wth Locator Number, cost, dates, & time.
I can only do this by digging through all the pages, then hitting each trip, or scanning my email via locator number.
A bit troublesome and very expensive when the only internet access is driving to town and going to the library where you are allotted 1 hr / week access.
Just looking for a quick and easy (and inexpensive) option to track trips.
Previously 'Future trips' portal displayed (6) trips on each page. 1/6th the time and expense to browse.
Thx
Hello-
A one-hour-per week time limit to use a public library's internet...That's the tightest I've seen it! Is this limit specifically for using the library's public computers or for using the public Wi-Fi network with a personal device like your phone, tablet or laptop?
If you have a personal device, I would "Wi-Fi shop" until you find a location that has better usage terms, even if its in the parking lot of a local Starbucks or McDonald's as no purchase is required to use these.
In either case, I would first save or print your upcoming flight confirmation emails to an offline location. From there, you can access the details anytime to transfer to your spreadsheet without internet connection. Would this option work for you?

Greetings Community Southwest!
SoCalFlyer97 has a full scheduled line up of Southwest Hotels Rapid Rewards Points Plus room reservations all booked up for the next two weeks during this month of October...Five one-nighters at Five different hotels all over California to be exact.
SoCalFlyer97 at Hampton Inn, Riverside - August 2023
As you can tell by the pictures, I frequent all kinds of hotels and different brands with just about all of them booked via Southwest Hotels or RocketMiles depending on which portal and which hotels have the better Rapid Rewards points deal for the buck.
Before anybody asks....No, the purpose of these is not exclusively for points toward Companion Pass. I actually had scheduled business at all of these locations. Same can be said for all five locations currently scheduled.
Based on my needs and preferences, I've booked a mix of both big chain and smaller independent inns as well as both the affordably 'nice' and basic no-frills rooms. Most of my October bookings are in various spots all over SoCal with one hotel booked up north in conjunction with an upcoming Southwest flight to the Silicon Valley at SJC.
SoCalFlyer97 at Motel 6, Redlands CA - May 2023
In the coming days, I'll be posting updates to this subject's thread of the hotel experiences ranging from the booking process, value of points received versus money spent, and the actual stay experience.
SoCalFlyer97 at Silver Sevens, Las Vegas NV - August 2023
For the record, I have never had a major problem with Southwest Hotels although I've read all kinds of differing views and experiences on this discussion board. Southwest Hotels powered by Booking.com has always delivered on my Points Plus bookings with no last-minute reservation surprises at the hotels' front desks without fail.
SoCalFlyer97 at Ontario Airport Inn, near ONT - July 2023
Will this pattern continue?
Hotel #1 will be in Buena Park CA! Stay tuned!

That’s assuming, of course, that there are any upgraded boarding positions for the companion still available 24 hours in advance, right? If none are available, at least with Early Bird, the companion would get a better boarding position than without Early Bird, right? Maybe B rather than C (if the plane is pretty full).
No guarantee either way.
I've read all over this board of a bunch of belly-aching that one can buy EBCI well in advance of the flight only to get a "bad" B position. A key part of the EBCI benefit is what is given to A-Listers...Automatic check in so I don't have to set my alarm clock at T-24. No guaranteed 'A' spot.
Based on my experience before getting A-List, I would buy WGA+ fare and set my alarms at T-24, check in at that point, and if I got a "Deep-in-the-B" spot, like this recent trip to LAS, I would make the decision to buy Upgraded Boarding at that point. My worst spot after checking in manually at T-24 was somewhere around B50.
I've never faced an A1-A15 sellout via app/online at the T-24 mark after taking 30 flights so far this calendar year, even for the fullest of flights...I would usually get placed anywhere from A2-A8 when buying at T-24...my experience all this year but again, no guarantee! Just based on experience!
Just keep in mind that Upgraded Boarding does not carry over if you decide later to do a Same Day Flight Change or Standby. However, waiting to buy Upgraded Boarding for your companion until you get to the airport however could increase the risk of a sellout as I've sometimes seen the entire A1-A15 area of the boarding line filled up upon board time on some flights. Other times, I've seen just four to six people.
Your call.

I notice this when I look up flights on the app
example I searched was AUS-MCO December 12th
Not showing on mine. I think you (and maybe a few others) may have gotten an exclusive offer since fine print says, "Only the Rapid Reward Member who received this offer is eligible." Just my humble guess.
I sometimes get promotional Uber and Lyft %-off deals from time to time that are exclusive to me. They'll sometimes pop up a few days after I do a price check on either.

Been waiting for almost 2 hours for my bags at Dallas love field. (SW flight 1016) South west employees have been very rude on the flight and at baggage Carousel. Have had 17 flights get their bags since I have been sitting here. Will definitely not use south west again.
make it right Southwest, and get it together
Hello!
Sorry to hear...Please note that this message board is a customer-to-customer board. Southwest Customer Service and Operations will likely not be able to respond or process your request directly via this forum.
Just so we can point you in the right direction, were only your bags missing when you arrived at DAL or was it for the whole flight? Also, how long before your departure time did your check your bags, and did you make any Same Day Standby List changes to your booking after checking the bag?
