Never book third party! Bood directly with the hotel and directly with the airline. Otherwise you are just asking for truoble. Not worth the few bucks you might save.

I continue to see posts like this complaining about seating.
I don't understand them myself.
If you care about where you sit or with whom you sit, why would you book a flight on an airline that doesn't let you reserve seats?
Southwest is often the lowest cost and most convienint option. But you know going in that you don't have a reserved seat.

How about a rule that says, if you need extra time to get on the plane then you need extra time to get off the plane? Flag preborders and have them remain seated on landing until everyone else has disembarked.

SWA is, ususally, the least expensive and most convienint option. But, I don't really care where or with whom I sit. I always take the first flight of the day from a hub airport. I never check bags and I never have connecting flights. If you can line up your trips like this you'll have much fewer issues.
What I don't understand is why people book SWA and then complain about not being able to sit together or sit where they want.

Your best option, and anyone who cares where or with whom they sit, is to book with an airline that lets you reserve your seats in advance.
SWA is great. Convieneint. Low priced.
But they don't let you reserve seats. How important is it that you sit together?

An easy fix to preforming abuse would be, for the same reason preborders need to get on first, flag their seats and, for their safety, have them disembark last.

Are you traveling alone? If not, could your companion take your blanket through security? You could go first, leave the area, then in the unlikely event that TSA examines the blanket you won't have to see it happen.

You knew this when you bought the tickets, right? If you care where or with whom you sit, why would you buy tickets where you can’t reserve your seats?

If you do get the chance to try this i suggest bringing enough people to create a crowded environment on the plane. Also try getting up and going into the bathroom on the plane and then back to your seat.
Make sure you are eating enough. Anxiety is hard to fight but it’s not unbearable. This isn’t the time for dieting though. You need s storing healthy body to win the fight. Stay strong and hearty, keep fighting, and you will win.

“Lets also give that to police and firefighters as well, and the retirees as well.” Absolutely. Military, police, firefighters, all who put their lives on the line for our safety. It world really show where SWA stands if they allowed all true heroes and their families to board first. I’d gladly step aside.

is this limited to persons of size? Can I buy two seats just to guarantee an empty seat next to me?

Another example of what southwest really cares about. Not the health of their employees nor the safety of their passengers. another reason to pay a little more and fly United where I can reserve me seat in advance and be safe.

There are no requirements but if you’re going to take an airline that doesn’t require their employees to be vaccinated to visit a high risk state then do yourself a favor and tested after the trip. https://covidactnow.org/us/virginia-va/

If it’s acceptable to you to expose your child to a high risk city on an airline that does not require it’s employees to be vaccinated, then you should probably at least get the poor kid tested after the trip. Chicago

I’m vaccinated but the more time I spend around unvaccinated people, walking Petri dishes for covid variants, the more I increase my chances of a breakthrough infection. here them is just another in the evergreen reasons not to fly southwest. I’ll pay a little more to fly United, select my seat in advance, and be safe.

Violations like this by airline employees should not be tolerated and should be reported. I suggest you file a complaint with the DOT. https://airconsumer.dot.gov/escomplaint/ConsumerForm.cfm

SWA should perma ban bully passengers that think the rules don’t apply to them. Everyone two years old and older has to wear a mask. If you or your children can’t or won’t do this you don’t get to fly. Southwest Airlines no longer accepts emotional support animals. If you can’t fly without an animal to comfort you, you don’t get to fly. None refundable tickets are nonreturnable. Points have an expiration date. SWA does not have reserved seats. If you have to sit next to someone you should use another airline. All airlines are making lots of changes to their flight schedules. It’s not personal. Some gate agents and flight attendants are always on a power trip. It’s not personal. Thankfully, most SWA employees are great! Sorry for the rant. Please add to the list😀

I don’t expect to see any mandatory vaccination requirements until we have a fully approved vaccine. All we have now are vaccines approved for emergency use.

I hear you. I paid extra for first class on United from the East coast to Las Vegas. Then United changed my nonstop to a connection through LAX. So I canceled United and bow I’m back to the flying Greyhound that SWA has become.

If the ever growing line of pre-borders and seat savers bothers you that much, fly an airline that lets you reserve your seat when you buy your ticket. For me, I don’t like SWAs free for all seating policy. I look at all other options before booking SWA. But SWA is usually the most convenient and lowest costs choice. I try to ignore the fiasco as far as I can and remind myself that, as the FAs sometimes announce, all seats arrive at the same time.
