And these days, at Southwest, innovation only comes when it postively affects the bottom line.

Here's one for the books: Recent flight I was on... I was in an aisle seat. In my peripheral vision, I saw the passenger in the aisle seat across from me open their laptop and proceed to edit what turned out to be an adult video for a podcast! SMH!!! Fortunately, I didn't see any kids walking towards the forward lav. When I went to the lav, I mentioned it to one of the FA's. She told me I wasn't the first to mention it to her. And, that she and the other FA's had made trips up the aisle trying to catch the passenger doing this. But, she said unless she and another FA saw it for themselves, they couldn't even ask the person to close the laptop. I mention this as one of SWA's competitors is now training their FA's on how to deal with passengers viewing X-rated videos on-board. I'm not a prude. Nor am I a voyeur. But, as a retired TV engineer and long-time tech geet, I notice when people use electronics. As I said before, this one had me SMH!

Not all that surprising of a boarding position if the OP purchased a Business Select ticket. Is the position alone worth the extra cost for Business Select? No... so it's also worth checking at the desk for upgraded boarding which can be purchased for $40 and can also get you a A1-A15 position, the same numbers Business Select tickets are assigned. --TheMiddleSeat

It is overrated to me because of the tray table situation as several have said. It just is not that practical. I generally like the window or aisle seat in the exit row opposite 12A. You get more legroom but a functional tray table. Now I might choose 12A over a regular row, but it isn't my first choice. But if you want to go with "Southwest First Class" as many call it (that joke is tired at this point), enjoy!

I had a flight on Tuesday where the person in 7A was using one. I was in 7C. The FA's served drinks and snacks, and picked up trash, and must hve seen it. They didn't say anything. So, I presume, per the caveats above, you'll be fine.

As a tall guy. It's all about LEGROOM!!!

@byrdbrain591 Generally, this is the first exit row seat to be chosen, and I would say that 9/10 times+, it will be taken by someone in the first half of the A boarding group. Note that pre-boarders cannot choose to sit in the exit row.

A seat is a seat, of course anyone would prefer an aisle or the window, but I've been in the middle before and as long as I can get on the plane to my destination, I don't care 😄 --Jessica

It's a premium option among middle/window seats for sure. I'll play devil's advocate a little: Some people will try to sleep and this seat you can't lean against the side of the aircraft for extra support. If traveling in a pair its great. The matching aisle seat is the same as any other aisle though and doesn't recline Person in the "Dannering" seat behind you to the left will keep asking you to help stow their things under the seat in front of them, which is in front of you. Overall I also will leave it for someone traveling in a pair and hope for the karma to be paid forward by someone else later. I enjoyed sitting there as my first choice seat before kiddos when traveling with my wife.

I had a bad experience with seat saving on a recent trip back from Hawaii. The human tendency to cheat and take advantage, in this case cost avoidance of an early bird fare that others pay, will always have those who abuse the system at the exspense of others, and some, as was our recent experience, will take it to an extreme to "reserve" mutiple seats. While I have been a devoted SW customer for many years and very much enjoy the companion travel feature, we have noted his trend increasing. It will be the reason we switch to another carrier that is less likely to turn a blind eye and is essentially complicit in the inequites associated with its obbiously less than fully "open" [for all] seating policy. In all fairness, if you wish to secure your seat for your family members or whatever, then pay the extra amount as the rest of us do. I don't see the big deal in this as a policy. It would appear that SW doesn't really care about this enough to change. Sad.

@byrdbrain591 More of like download reading material or movie to watch. Comedy should be of first choice. For instance: Jeff Foxworthy along with his comedy partners. It should be more of relaxing atomsphere whilist on flight. This is my best choice.

I had to search through my tweets, as I normally tweet something when I get an especially good seat on a flight .... and I've had front row twice. While it's nice to be at the VERY front of the plane, I do find the lack of overhead bin space and the inability to have anything in front of your seat (because there are no seats in front of you lol) a drawback. It's still great to say you had "front row" on a Southwest flight ... as close to first class as you're going to get, lol. --Jessica

I don't think November will be a huge issue, it will be colder but that's about it. Weather can be a factor any time of year, but of course snow/ice in the winter months are harsher elements than just rain. --Jessica

Here is the SeatGuru (third party site) link for the seat map with comments and reviews from other passengers. @bec102896 you're thinking of the right one: https://seatguru.com/airlines/Southwest_Airlines/Southwest_Airlines_Boeing_737-700_new.php @byrdbrain591 I'll also echo the thoughts that EarlyBird *probably* won't get you the worm here (seat 12A) but you never know.
