Why did you stress not bringing anyone with you or having someone meet you at the hotel?

Learned the hard way that this isn’t true. We are traveling with a $6500 viola in a case and were forced to check it at the gate. We begged to gate check it, my daughter in tears, and were refused. There are 4 other musicians on the flight that suffered the same fate. The agent claimed flight was full and we had to check. We understand but why refuse to gate check? It felt personal and mean spirited. This hasn’t happened in my 30 years flying with Southwest. Shame. We are still on the flight expecting to deal with a damaged instrument because we have a connecting flight too. These people just don’t care.

Quick question as a part time CSA can you fix your schedule in a way that you can work all your shifts over the weekend? Let’s say Friday 2 shifts, Saturday 2 shift and Sunday one?

MCO = anything goes, unlimited carry ons, unlimited family boarding, no size restrictions.
Riding lawn mower? No problems.
LOL
I think the airport codes checklist is a great idea for training.

Hi, it’s good to be familiar with as many airport codes as possible because you will need them. I do not know all of them so I keep a list of them near by for reference.

Question-how do they test this? You get the code and have to know the city, city and know code, or both??
Thanks so much!

@Saonyekwere try calling or emailing your recruiter. It is OK to contact them. Do you happen to have their first and last name from a previous email? I recently started at SWA myself.

I don't think you will. Materials Specialist is a different role, but it will get you in the door. You will have internal opportunities available to you after you are hired, especially with the A&P. Good luck!

SWA737-200 to -800, Top of arm rest maybe 18.5". But the important part is bumper to bumper measurement at the lower part of the seat. That maybe reducing the width to 17.5". As a Mechanic that made step stools 15" wide to fit between the seats to work the bins & ceiling area. For the most part Rows 3- aft entry the step stool fits just fine. But rows 1-2 where the plane narrows the stool needs to be carried over those seats. https://www.highskyflying.com/how-wide-are-airplane-aisles/
20/More Seat Passenger Airplanes
[Big airliners like the ‘Boeings’ and ‘Airbuses’ are found within this category of airplanes. The FAA Seat and Aisle Regulations require that the aisle width of these airplanes must be 15 inches from the floor to a height of 25 inches and 20 inches above a 25-inch height.
Therefore, it is safe to say that the aisle width of the last Boeing or Airbus flight that you took was between 15 to 20 or more inches.]
Note: B707, 727, 737 all have the same BS 480 to nose section reduction in width and from BS 480 on back width. BS 480 is the split in the seat track to where it goes narrow.

Hi Nettyboo34,
i just cleared my screening and just waiting for recruiters to contact me in regards to my start date. Anyway, I was wondering how is the training/test be like for CSA? Is it hard? If you don’t pass the test, can you retake them until you pass? Or once you failed they’ll let you go? I’m so sorry, I can’t help but overthink. I’m currently a CSA for another airline right now, and I’m scared to actually let this go and won’t get the job at SW if the test will only require you to take it once with a passing score.. with my airline right now, I did the computer based test too while on training and some of the test I had to retake until I pass them. Does SW works that way too? Thank you in advance!

It depends on you. It could be anywhere from 4-6 weeks. You may need more time, and that’s okay. As long as you can do the job safely.

I’ve only ever used the hearing protection that is provided and I feel it is more than adequate. I work on the ramp, so I’m around it for the majority of the day. You always have the option to buy your own hearing protection, and some people do. It’s all about your safety, and what will work for you. Check out the options they provide before you buy anything because you may end up liking what they have! Good luck!
