I did end up booking a later return flight, as it cost less. But I intend to keep an eye on my original flight. I'm okay either way. My original flight was at 5:30 am, and I wasn't really too eager to get up for that early a flight. But, it did get me home earlier; the flight I ended up selecting is about 6 hours later, so that's a bit of a bummer. But....I'll keep an eye on it.
Try to keep it untouched now, the terms of the promotion will say something along the lines of "changes invalidate the promotion" so you should keep what you have.
I've heard people using WGA+ or other standby options still qualified in previous contests but making a change in advance to the ticket could knock you out of qualifying.

I guess we will see. SWA has diluted and watered down A-list threshold requirements to the point that most any casual infrequent flyer can achieve A-list, so there are a lot of A-list flyers these days.

Last year I made a gate change to a 6am flight from LAS to SMF about 30 before the flight in a virtually empty terminal and was given A18 out of 16 passengers on the flight. Out of 16 passengers, 13 were A List preferred. I guess those are the only people awake early in Vegas.

The fees to transfer RR points are almost as much as the RR points are worth, and purchasing RR points comes at a premium. You could purchase 2,000 RR points for $60, but the value when applied to flights is only about $27. Maybe that’s worth it to you to use up your available points balance and might make sense if you don’t fly frequently. To best use everyone’s points you will likely end up with multiple reservations, and based on the age of your kids might need to be done over the phone.

Please stop trying to be like all the other airlines. I have always tried to fly Southwest and love the flexibility of open seating.

Perhaps we got bad information, but Chase told us they would notify Southwest 6 to 8 weeks after we met the threshold. I hope you are right. Thank you for responding.

They should post to your RR account about 24 hours after the monthly closing date of your credit card for when you reach the spending threshold.

Send them another email with all the details again...I told them it was ridiculous that I was still waiting and ended up getting a response. Email them every week if you have to. Good luck.

If you have a Twitter account, then follow Southwest Airlines. After you follow, send a Direct Message (DM) and provide your case number(s) if you created any via the SW Contact Us page. Also provide your confirmation and flight numbers. Give them every detail. DO NOT REPLY to any posts otherwise it will more than likely be removed (not to mention you don't want to supply your personal info as a reply). Send a Direct Message.
