@bwallet wrote: I get Southwest. The two airlines that I frequently fly are Southwest and Emirates (international business class only), and there couldn't be two more different experiences. I like that Southwest is fun. However, somethings just cross a line, and I think that this is one of them. Be fun, joke, be lighthearted, but wearing something that says in some form or another, "I don't care", well, that isn't Southwest. Shouldn't the goal of Southwest to project "I do care"? I wouldn't get bent out of shape about it, but I have to admit that if I saw this, I would roll my eyes and think it wasn't appropriate. After that? I'd shrug my shoulders and move on with life. Well said. The threshold of thinking something is inappropriate vs. being so aggrieved to get online and act like someone kicked your puppy has been blurred. In today's world... they are one and the same. Being offended is now a badge of honor... signifying something to be proud of or something. And to take it a step further and conclude that this somehow implies this person can't do his or her job is another stretch. We're wearing masks much longer than many of us think is prudent. It's driving many of us bonkers and creating divisiveness more than unity. Why not take some of the seriousness out of the tires to soften the ride a bit? As with most of these online rants, I'm not sure what the goal is. To garner sympathy or solidarity? Because it seems if we disagree, we're told that we're not helping, or being mean, . I guess we're just supposed to say "Amen" and thus the afflicted party feels justified in their torment. Seems a little like letting the emperor run around naked in my opinion.

This is entirely the OLD norm for SWA. If you're new to their snarky humor, it might be surprising. But it's their brand. If upright and formal is your thing, you would likely prefer another airline.

As of now, assume the vaccine does nothing for you. You still have to wear a mask. You still have to get PCR tested to go to some places (mostly islands). And you still have to get PCR or antigen tested to return to the USA. Considering they have no agreed upon "vaccine passport", don't expect it to change any time soon in this country.

You were comfortable buying a ticket to travel in September 2020 before the vaccine, but now you're not comfortable traveling after the vaccine?? Sorry, I'm not tracking your logic.

Not correct. You don't need any tests to go TO Mexico. You need an antigen test to get BACK from Mexico. Your hotel should be able to arrange one.

Just to clarify, there is some unusually strange pricing going on right now with points relative to cash. Something to do with the sale, it seems. Not sure why it would change the otherwise fixed ratio, but people are reporting it happening. Combine that with a rush in purchases, and yeah, not the best time to buy with points. As noted, most of us get the Southwest card for Companion Pass more than points. Agreed it's kinda silly to take 1.6% back in points when you can get 1 or 2 points in cash. But the CP makes up for it. Not to mention the free checked bags. I think that saved me over $3000 this year alone. So I concur that the current RR happenings are frustrating. But I'd say on their worst day, they're better than any other airline's best day. I'm sure most of my points on this airlines have gone unused and wasted. Whereas here, I can book my family tickets with free cancelation all I want. Great for flexible traveling. Good luck,

No. You can always cancel and rebook. I see WGA prices similar to regular sales, code not necessary to get the promo price. What's unusual is the sale price extends to Anytime and BS fares. Good if you need refundablility.

Perhaps because coddling behavior that is unnecessarily sensitive and prone to complaints just begets more behavior that's unnecessarily sensitive and prone to complaints? I didn't realize the rule here was that we had to agree with everyone. Constructive criticism means we tell people they may be wrong. And honestly, I feel someone willing to come online and whine because they were tapped with a card is very likely liable to fall apart when presented with an in flight emergency. We don't allow children to sit in exit rows for a reason, right? How about people acting like children? I guess everyone gets a trophy these days.

May I suggest next time you just mind your own business and not worry about other people wearing masks? It really really has no impact on your vaccinated self. You could have had an uneventful flight.

Yes... vaccines have yet to have ANY effect on any flights in or into anywhere in the USA, with the exception of interisland Hawaii or avoiding a second test when you get them from the mainland. So not being vaccinated doesn't impact you at all in every other situation, and being vaccinated doesn't buy you anything.

Yeah, I called them. Something about prescribing it for each person... even though the box comes with 6 unmarked tests. Really annoying and stupid, if you ask me. Edit: Oh great... the person I talked to was an idiot... he sounded like it. I think I'll let them know they suck. I didnt see any other option. We'll use 2 of the 6 tests, and have the rest as backup. Soon I suspect they'll eliminate the need to test to enter the US if you're vaccinated. Too bad the test isn't useful for flying to most destinations...I think they all require PCR.

You'll have to give us more details. You don't normally register as an A lister... you earn it by flying 25 flights. You register for Rapid Rewards, which in my experience doesn't provide any instant bonus rewards or privilege. Sometimes they give you A list if you fly a few flights within a certain time period. Normally this is early in the year. I haven't seen it offered in the last part of the year, because it expires on 12/31.

Well written story. But you left a bit wanting in plot and climax. I'll save that $40 in baggage fees and accept whatever loss in "customer service" you claim. That's about $240 per trip for my wife and I. Not sure I could find that much value in customer service. Hmm... that's over $3000 saved this year alone. Wow. Thanks for the reminder. Enough to book another trip.

In essence, it seems you're converting your GC to a travel voucher, which makes sense. This assumes they can track those online, though... not sure if they do? They do a great job now of tracking TF, which is great. Too bad they are tied to one person and account, and expire after a year. I move my GC to TF sometimes if I know I'll spend them soon.

And the flip side of that... points used for your own tickets do not collect new points nor A list qualification. So it's best to use them for friends and relatives, and buy your own tickets with cash if you fly a lot.

What exactly did you "lose"; Tom? Seems you got the same CP as everyone else and didn't lose anything. I too "earned" my CP for this year, and got a free extension that I don't therefore need. But I didn't lose anything. Are you suggesting SWA give us a free CP to use the first year we don't earn one? At this rate, that'll be 2023 for me. Seems a bit excessive and entitled, wouldn't you agree?

There are some very similar test kits they are now selling at Walmart and other big box stores but I remember reading somewhere that those are not valid for re-entry into the US from international travel. The ones you buy online from emed.com definitely work for re-entry. Correct. The "self test" will not work. The "at home test" is more expensive but includes the remote observation that makes it authorized. Sadly, I could only find them to be sold on six packs, locked to one person. I don't need that many.
