The flight deals have been amazing! I have booked a few Vegas trips with leftover travel funds, who knows if any of them will actually happen due to quarantines and etc., but one of them is scheduled for late August and I'd love to go. I think that no matter what, I'm going to go to Vegas for NYE for the first time ever and say GOODBYE to this year Vegas-style 😉 --Jessica

It's actually pretty amazing that Southwest has lasted this long without furloughing anyone! It seems inevitable though, that they will have to do something, considering the state of the airline industry in general (no one is flying). Thanks, Jessica

@91uclapka wrote: It's amazing to me that after 3 consecutive years of loyal patronage as a A-List Plus member that SWA does not budge nor modify its 'non-refundable' policies in the midst of a global health pandemic for its customer base. It's even more amazing to me that customers expect Southwest to grant exceptions to the rules in exchange for a couple of years of 'loyal' service. Southwest has been extremely generous in the wake of the pandemic, granting rapid rewards point extensions to *2022* to name just one example. To clarify this even further for you: if your unused travel funds are set to expire between now and September 7, 2020, they will be extended to September 7, 2022. Yes - I have been having trouble looking up flights at all. No matter what departure or arrival cities I enter or what date ranges I enter, I get an error: Sorry, we found some errors... No one is forcing you to travel. Travel funds for canceled flights are good for a full 2 years until 2022 - you have plenty of time to use them and don't have to travel now. --Jessica

I wouldn't purchase early bird unless you *really* have a desire to be one of the first on the plane 😉 but since flights are not anywhere close to capacity, there's less of a need for it at this time. --Jessica

Typically when they show the lowest fare on the calendar view there is only one flight (or two) with that low price - the rest are higher 🙂 Not every flight is going to be that 'low fare'! --Jessica

Assuming your flight falls within the policy window: Customers’ funds that have expired or will expire between March 1, 2020 and September 7, 2020, will now expire September 7, 2022. Any travel funds created because you cancel a flight between March 1 – September 7, 2020, will expire September 7, 2022. it will update automatically. --Jessica

@bguzman wrote: It was my understanding from previous blogs that I was not going to incur in any charges. This would be the case if: 1) you did not cancel your flight and wanted to move your flight out by up to 60 days. You can modify your flight up to 60 days out completely for free. 2) you canceled your flight and used your travel funds to purchase a new flight and that new flight was equal or less to your travel fund balance. If your new flight costs more, you have to pay the difference. In either case, Southwest does not charge fees to change or cancel your flight. Thanks, Jessica

Wow! Those drink coupons are collector's items! I'd keep them vs. trying to use them on a flight (although, I don't see an expiration date on these so you might be able to use them if you wanted)! Thanks for sharing! --Jessica

I am not a fan of wearing masks either, believe me, and I can only hope that the policies will be relaxed as the COVID-19 cases decrease and people ease out of panic/"we are all going to die!" mode (which is starting to happen slowly but surely). Thanks, Jessica

The best time to buy is right now, as tickets are the cheapest they have ever been (but are slowly increasing back to normal-ish levels as demand increases). Aside from that, whenever Southwest has a sale is always a good time to buy 😉 --Jessica

Wow! Thanks for sharing! I think all airlines are sadly in the same situation when it comes to refunds. They don't want to give them if they don't have to. Honestly, I understand it, but people are still entitled to them if the airline cancels their flights. As for me...I have around $300 in credit that I'm going to keep for the future. Hopefully I'll get to fly somewhere this year! --Jessica

It's possible that not all food options will be open at the airport, so I would suggest bringing a few snacks with you to tide you over. I've purchased those "P3 Protein Packs" at the grocery store and they normally come with a type of nuts, cheese, and jerky. When I don't have time to pay for a meal, it hits the spot. Here's the official site where you can find all the varieties: https://www.proteinproteinprotein.com/ A word of advice would be if you do bring your own snacks, have them out of your bag as you go through security. I've been slowed down and searched before because the scanners don't recognize what's in the food packages, so it's a good idea to have them out so the TSA agents can easily see what they are. --Jessica

That's what happened to me @bec102896! I contacted Southwest on social media and they changed my flight for me, it took a few minutes! I should check again and see if it's still on schedule, I haven't gotten any more notifications and it's a month away. I suspect I'll end up canceling it anyway, but ... I keep holding out that things will turn to normal sooner rather than much, much later 😞 --Jessica

My whole issue with masks is that it can give people wearing them a false sense of security, and they end up touching their face (etc.) more which can potentially spread even more germs. The same goes towards wearing disposable gloves, which I think is entirely pointless, but we are all entitled to our opinions. Some people go as far as to wash (sanitize) their mail, their grocery bags, and their clothes immediately after being around other people. While that's fine if you want to go to that level, to me all of this is just increasing the potential of turning everyone into a bunch of paranoid germaphobes 😕 I think we all need a reminder that this virus is mild for most and the vast majority who contract it recover. --Jessica

Perhaps you didn’t read the solution. A refund is an option for flights canceled by Southwest. Here is the info again: If your flight was canceled by Southwest, you have a few options: you can rebook your flight, get travel funds, or ask for a refund. You need to contact them and ask (but you should have received an e-mail with this information). If *you* canceled your flight, not Southwest, your options are to rebook or get travel funds, which are good until *2022*. Let us know what other questions you may have. —Jessica

You are definitely not alone, I have a flight booked that got changed by Southwest to a flight that technically doesn't exist by booking directly. I am contacting them via social media to inquire and get a resolution ... I would think that this was done in error and that they can correct the flight path to be a more reasonable one that exists 😉 --Jessica

You seem to be mistaken. Southwest is offering refunds, even on nonrefundable fares, when Southwest cancels your flight. You should receive an e-mail explaining your options. If you yourself cancel your flight, however, you are issued travel funds that don't expire until *2022*. Seems like a pretty good deal, either way you look at it. --Jessica
