What website did you read this? Looking at Southwest, it mentions nothing about needing a negative COVID test to fly in/around California. If you are traveling *to* LA, you may be required to quarantine, but that won't apply to you. If you are just connecting through LA, how does needing a negative COVID test make any sense? https://www.southwest.com/coronavirus/california/ --Jessica

I am praying for food and drinks on my SW flight to Hawaii so I'm really mot understanding why anyone would complain about it. If you are so uncomfortable then I would suggest stay off planes. Everyone on a plane has been vaccinated including yourself I would guess so why would you be complaining and unconmfortable unless you are one of those people that complains about everything. Its OK if people like you decide not to fly SW that makes it that much nicer and comfortable for the rest of us that will remain SW loyal. I thank SW and all there employees for sticking it out and putting there lives in danger for us. It takes a special kind of person to do that for people they don't even know. You are all brave and couragious. Keep up all the great work and thank you again

First, I am retired Air Force, flying air refueling aircraft and transport aircraft. I have dealt with in flight emergencies and opening hatches. First, "Saving seats" should not be allowed in emergency rows. Those who board with the best group numbers (ex: Business Select) should be allowed if they want one of those seats and it is open. On one flight, a male (aggressive and confrontational) passenger saved the other two seats in the emerg row for his family. The FA was there and said nothing when another tall passenger and Business Select wanted to sit there. When the other two family members came (C group), they were two elderly smaller women well into their late 70s or early 80s. That should not be allowed which is another issue for emergency egress. But: How does SW set some common sense boundaries and enforce it without fear of a lawsuit or a physical confrontation? In an emergency, things become chaotic,.. confusion and panic can set in. I have seen it on SW once when encountering severe turbulence on descent and approach (into Burbank CA). Some passengers were screaming, puking, crying and the FAs were doing their best to keep everyone calm.

@Rylan wrote: I have to say, I went and registered for this forum because of how upset I am with southwest. Travel funds expiring in June from a ticket last year that was unusual enough due to covid. I want to book something in August using the funds and SWA refuses to do anything at all. No extension nothing, no options, thank you goodbye. finds never appeared as eligible for extension last year. Not sure I understand this - if you booked a flight and you cancelled it in June of 2020, you should have received travel funds that didn't expire until September 2022. Southwest extended all travel funds from customer-cancelled flights from March-September 7, 2020 to September 7, 2022. There's more you are not telling us about your travel funds if they expire this month. --Jessica

Thank you all for the helpful feedback. The representative I communicated with today was a much better experience than the previous representative I spoke to. Southwest reached out to me and addressed my concerns. I have learned from this experience that a car rental through southwest.com (not southwest vacations) will not be adjusted to accommodate any changes made to your flight. It was my fault to assume Southwest would assist with a easy transition to travel changes/plans they make to your flight and subsequent rental car booked through them. That being said, Southwest has accounted for any potential incurred cost with potentially requiring alternate transportation on arrival and the associated inconvenience: which we are very thankful for. I am happy this issue has been resolved. My only wish was it had not required an open forum to speed along a response and for resolution to occur.

In all the years of flying, I've only had my bags not show up about 3 times, and mostly because of connecting flights. But it's also something I know is possible, even in the best circumstances. I've always been compensated for the issue and had bags delivered to where I was staying. But still a pain in the butt.

Sorry to hear of the loss of something you treasure. Yes, way too much time has gone by and the chances of a return of them diminish. Something of that importance (I'm just assuming here) should have been a carry-on. And for the most part, I'm behind SWA that this isn't their wrongdoing, but seems to be the Airport personnel or the TSA.

Yes, flight prices literally fluctuate daily - the benefit of Southwest is once you book, if you notice your flight price went down, you can rebook with no change fees and get a flight credit for the reduction in price. It's really great, I do it all the time. --Jessica

I don't know much about credit cards but my best guess is that $200 off your flight was never meant to be used "immediately". The $200 could have been a statement credit that's applied to your first billing statement after you make the (full price) flight purchase. --Jessica

One piece of information about the airline industry is that there are specific dates when airlines submit schedules to airports and this can be different from when they make flights available to purchase. This is why it can be troublesome if you book a ticket too far in advance because the schedule on the airline's website is what they expect their schedule to be, but airlines are always evaluating routes and cities based on supply and demand of passengers and even when passengers want to fly, so sometimes they change the schedule. Airlines will even trade their slots with other airlines if it's past the schedule submission deadline. Airlines are given certain slots based on their historical flight operations, but sometimes the airline decides to change flight time or even drop the airport all together or add destinations all of which affect flight schedules across their network. Here is a link with more information, it's pretty long, but worth a skim or "command/control F" to learn at least a little bit. http://www.wwacg.org/up/files/DocsWSG/WORLWIDE_SCHEDULING_GUIDELINES/WSG2-Jul00.pdf

Tell me about it, that was my biggest fear with my Nashville trip because my hotel was about 20 miles from the airport, and the festival I attended another 10 miles from there. I had real concerns I was going to be stranded or miss my flight going home if I couldn't find a ride. Or pay enormous amounts for a taxi. --Jessica

I never heard back from them. That's the first time it's ever happened as they are normally so responsive. I hope this doesn't become the norm! --Jessica

I would second what dfwskier said, and I would also say that flight schedule changes are in the terms & conditions that you agree to when purchasing a ticket. Basically every time you buy a plane ticket, you agree that the flight schedule could change including from a nonstop to stopover flight. I just don't know why Southwest wouldn't just automatically reschedule people to the new nonstop time. Sometimes it makes sense and Southwest keeps your original departure time other times it goes from an evening departure to a morning departure, but that's usually on once a day routes.

In my opinion, this is a long shot due to only having charter service. There are many other airports much more suited and more likely to see Southwest service.

I agree with other responses, no body shares a normal flight that's on time with good service. When I fly the only things I say to flight attendants are, some type of greeting like "Hello" or "Good Morning," then when they ask what I want to drink I'll say what I would like than say thank you when they hand it to me then I say thank you again when I get off the plane. Of course now, I also wear my mask when I fly and don't complain. With this practice, I've never had problems with flight attendants.
