@ACL -- you can't board a new flight with your missed flight's boarding pass. You should have gone to the podium at the gate as soon as you knew you were going to miss your flight and they would have given you a new boarding pass for your next flight then and there. Also - boarding passes take seconds to print, so you should not have missed your newer flight if you did not have your boarding pass in hand when you went to board. It's rare but I've seen it happen, people are in line to board and the scanner beeps when someone's ticket is scanned, indicating that they don't have an actual boarding pass but a security document, or there is another issue, and they have to go to the gate agent and get a boarding pass printed. --Jessica

I've noticed that if you have your phone set to 'lock' after x minutes, the Wi-Fi does not stay connected and you have to reconnect when you unlock your phone again. Seems logical though - if your phone remains active, your Wi-Fi connection remains intact. --Jessica

TSA would also likely do the swab test to verify that there is no issue with the materials of which they are made, so you might want to allow extra time to go through the security line.

@stingerjay wrote: Hello: i have a similar issue and have funds that expire next week because we are still not able to travel after just having our baby which caused us to cancel our flights last year because of my wife's medical travel restrictions. What is the best time frame that one should call when seeing if they can convert to the LUV voucher given that those expire 6 months from date issued? Being that my son is only 2 months old now, we still wouldn't want to travel with him just yet if i call this month and would have to use them in Aug. Is there a time limit for calling in after funds expire? Thank you for anyone that helps or comments. First of all, congrats on the baby. Here's my understanding. If I am wrong about anything, I'll let someone else chime in. 1) you can convert travel funds to vouchers after the funds have expired. The cost is $100 per fund. You and your wife would process separately. Do you have more than one each? If so, use them combined to buy a flight to anywhere, and then cancel that flight. In doing so you turn multiple travel funds (and multiple $100 fees) into one travel fund and one $100 fee. 2) I believe you have to do the above within 6 months of the travels funds expiration date. 3) Vouchers issued in place of travel funds expire six months from date of issue and are NOT extendable. So it seems that the above means you have from 6-12 months to use yor vouchers - depending on when you convert your travel funds into vouchers.

Keep in mind other airlines charge you to transfer points as well and they have the same policy of points transfers being non refundable.

In no way do I want to "be heated", but I just thought I'd check back to this post. #Vegas is not a better experience than it was before when parking was free at every casino even the Bellagio. That's just me, though i haven't heard anyone saying they like the paid parking vs. the "old" days. It definitely has changed my behavior. I used to like to rent a car and go to red rocks, hoover dam, etc. to keep the variety of activities up. Now I uber to the strip and stay fewer days. 4 queens is an experience with all the characters around, but I typically stay overnight on the strip. Maybe I'll try downtown sometime. Resort fees are so lame/weak that it is being legislated to stop them and have more transparent, voluntary pricing. You can't exactly opt out of the value add like you can flying the airlines. But if you like and appreciate those fees, that's ok, I've just never been a fan. As far as the employee parking goes, longtime Southwest flight attendants told me about it and I took them for their word. I was just blown away at that. I always considered Southwest extremely generous. It has good drink selections, sends birthday cards with comps, and my last playing card set I got sitting on a plane was on a Southwest flight. I LOVE BAGS FLY FREE! I think it definitely works for me. I don't want to think about all the silly fees and upcharges at the other airlines. Now Southwest is in Hawaii and why would you consider Hawaiian with those obnoxious bag fees? I'm sure this will go away soon enough. Perhaps when Kelly leaves. I remember when JetBlue didn't charge. It was great. Then they kicked the CEO out so they could nickel and dime on the baggage. Poor Barger. Poor customers. It is a pity, and a little petty, that parking to work at an airport in Texas would have to be negotiated in a contract with the unions, but I'll say Southwest has a history of being fiscally conservative. So at least it isn't a mystery, albeit shameless. I don't think any Hobby Southwest employee would be upset if they had comped parking. But i do admit there are some things I can't understand. Nuts!

Here's one for the books: Recent flight I was on... I was in an aisle seat. In my peripheral vision, I saw the passenger in the aisle seat across from me open their laptop and proceed to edit what turned out to be an adult video for a podcast! SMH!!! Fortunately, I didn't see any kids walking towards the forward lav. When I went to the lav, I mentioned it to one of the FA's. She told me I wasn't the first to mention it to her. And, that she and the other FA's had made trips up the aisle trying to catch the passenger doing this. But, she said unless she and another FA saw it for themselves, they couldn't even ask the person to close the laptop. I mention this as one of SWA's competitors is now training their FA's on how to deal with passengers viewing X-rated videos on-board. I'm not a prude. Nor am I a voyeur. But, as a retired TV engineer and long-time tech geet, I notice when people use electronics. As I said before, this one had me SMH!

I am not sure what you mean about a "5 day rule." If you checked a bag and it did not turn up in baggage claim, Southwest requires that you report it within 4 hours of arriving at your destination. Did you do this? https://www.southwest.com/html/generated/help/faqs/baggage_faq.html If your baggage has been lost, damaged, or delayed, you must report this, in person, at the Southwest Airlines Baggage Service Office within four hours of your arrival at your destination. The Southwest Airlines Baggage Service Office is located in the baggage claim area or the ticket counter at the airport. Additionally, if you can't find your bag at baggage claim: Go to the Southwest Airlines Baggage Service office located in the airport baggage claim area or at the ticket counter to report your delayed bag. The Southwest Airlines Baggage Service Agent will create a report and provide you with a receipt of this report. You will then receive updates regarding the status of your bag. We also provide a phone number that you can call to follow up on the status yourself. --Jessica

Jessica... Our original boarding passes were Group B. With the Priority boarding, as first to board the plane, we had first choice of seats, so chose seats in the first couple of rows, thus also ensuring we would be first to deplane in Baltimore.

I would include the cost as a determining factor as well. I used to pretty much always buy EBCI when it was $10. Now, to me, sometimes the inconvenience of online check in is preferable to paying $25. As we've seen here, there are a lot of different variables that can be a factor. Ultimately, each traveler has to decide what's right for them on any particular itinerary.

Nonstops from PHL to LAS and back ceased in the beginning of 2019 - right around the time of the MAX 8 grounding. The last nonstop flights I took was in October 2018. This route only had 1-2 nonstop flights per day to begin with, so I can understand them being eliminated, but it's still painful. I am coping the best I can, but the 'cheapest' options now are with 2 stops, and it's hard! --Jessica

The policy is included in Southwest's Contract of Carriage (pdf download). Accommodation for delayed flights is spelled out in multiple places, but significantly as shown below: 4. Tickets a. Tickets (4) Delays or Involuntary Cancellations. If a Passenger’s scheduled transportation is canceled, terminated, or delayed before the Passenger has reached his/her final destination as a result of a flight cancellation, Carrier-caused missed connection, flight delay, or omission of a scheduled stop, Carrier will either transport the Passenger at no additional charge on another of Carrier’s flights, refund the fare for the unused transportation in accordance with the form of payment utilized for the Ticket, or provide a credit for such amount toward the purchase of future travel. With regards to a delay allowing standby on an earlier flight, I've found that this is very much up to the discretion of the agent, including the necessary length of delay to trigger. Also, it seems this is allowed less now following the change to allow A-Listers free anytime standby.

Southwest allows you to cancel your flight with no fees up to *10 minutes* prior to departure, so if there was bad weather that day, it's very possible a lot of people cancelled at the last minute - or the night before. That's the only reason I can explain the gap in numbers. --Jessica

@lschofield wrote: Kayak long term trends show the prices jumping up quite a bit from March forward as well. Two points here 1) March is spring break time and prices tend to be higher as a result 2)SW has a tendency to price at least some future flights high, and then when seats don't sell, it drops the prices. When that happens, you can turn in your high pried ticket for a lower priced one and receive travel funds that you can use for a future flight.

Can you squeeze two of them into a checked bag? Hooray for free bags! TOTALLY KIDDING, DO NOT DO THAT. My only suggestion would be to ask about preboarding every time you fly, you may find a sympathetic gate agent who will allow it despite it not quite fitting into the policy. As others have mentioned your situation is definitely a difficult one and I wish you the best of luck with future travels. --TheMiddleSeat

Thankfully you booked when you did! I always try to plan for flight price increases and book as far ahead as possible because flight prices do tend to go up. Southwest allows you to change your flight at any time for *no additional fee* and you only pay the difference in cost if there is any. If you tried this at other airlines, you'd pay the fare difference in addition to a fee, which can be as much as $200 more on other airlines. Southwest is currently having a Spring Travel Sale until 1/23, so it's possible that your fare will go down - and it's likely that it will go up even more once the sale is over. Keep checking back! --Jessica
