I'm ok with no alcohol on the plane so far. My wife and I actually have civil conversations on our flights now. 😄 And even she has learned to wait until we land and have a nice beverage at one of the local brews at the places that sell beer.

@leshanc11SW I have to side with Middleseat, I've made name changes multiple times with an SWA receptionist with no hassle and charge. Unless things have changed, this would still be the case.

@MarianR You have your answer in the previous posts. I always grab some type of snack or drink before boarding just so that I can get a few small moments of breathing air without a mask. Even I admit, (as a well-known mask supporter) that several hours of a mask nonstop can be overwhelming. So take snacks on and enjoy.

I'm on the fence with this one, as I'm sure that all the complaints about the difficulty of 2-year-olds wearing masks are true. However, I'm sure there have been thousands of 2 to 3ish kids flying already, yet we have only seen a handful of these complaints. It does appear the masses, 90 percent or more seem to be able to comply? I don't know. First, I got a headache after the first paragraph of that complaint...(way TMO) And the fact they tried and knew that the child wasn't going to comply before they got on the flight makes me know they should have understood, that there was potential for confrontation, yet they chose to fly anyway. Since I haven't tried flying with a 2-3 year old I have no idea of what the outcome would be for the child if I did? What I do know, is children are smarter than we think. In discussing this with one of my friends who flew with her under 2 years old, they see everyone with a mask and always reach for one to put it on to be like everyone else. They seem to understand that is the norm of what they see every day, not somebody covering their mouth on the random.

One recent bit of information that I've found out is, there are a good number of hotels and resorts that will test you on site. Obviously, they are the higher-end, but are nicer in general and might be worth it to eliminate the hassle. Things are coming together.

@gsking Honestly, we were heading to Honolulu this weekend, but instead of the hassle, I changed it to Cozumel actually getting some refund. Several attractions were not fully open yet at Pearl Harbor so that was the deciding factor. So I will be booking soon. If you don't mind giving me a message of your experience when you return I would sure appreciate it. I've done Kona before SWA flew there but now will hit every island that SWA flies to.

@gsking WOW! I'm glad you recovered from COVID. Since I've never contracted it, I haven't even read that part of the discussion of what you need. Both my wife and I have been vaccinated since Feb/March, but that is irrelevant for Mexico. I'm now looking to book a flight to Hawaii soon as I heard last night they will be going to Vaccination Passports. YES, I'm all in for that.

@MAD-A-LISTER You appear to be very forthcoming with your personality so might I suggest this. You should go up to every one of those who appear to be bucking the system and inquire about their rationale to get a pre-board pass. Since SWA has restraints on what they can do in regard to verification, you don't. Stealing the "pissing match" scenario, I've asked, (and in some cases more or less demanded) people early in the pandemic to cover their face with their mask, even though there is a GA/FA right there. I was fortunate that the FEDs and airports got more diligent in their mandates and more people were forced to mask up properly. (You gotta love those old Texas men, lol)

@feaco I couldn't have said it better myself. I'm like you, heading to Cozumel which is a new destination of SWA. Makes it much easier than getting the ferry from Playa Del Carmen. I plan on doing as many new destinations before the year is out. If SWA adds a new one, I going there. Yes, even Colorado Springs. (lol) Actually, there are lots of trail races in that area.

@coheng01 Thanks for opening up the middle seat for me on my next flight. Just FYI, I've not seen many 1st class seats that are by themselves on other airlines, (but don't fly them either, just going by memory) so there is still a chance you will be sitting by somebody and that there will be a gang up and exit mentality on those airlines too.

@JasonCampbell Jason, I've experienced the same issue often. However, your venting about a FREE service. Honestly, if I was on the SWA business profit team, I'd suggest that we make people pay for in-flight movie, TV, and music. Why, because people would. I WOULD. Although I can't blame SWA for the stiff prices of actually paying for getting to the internet because it appears to be contracted out, I've even paid for that. Since I rarely fly any other airlines I can't give insight on their internet

@chgoflyer Thanks, Chicago Flyer. Since my post and research, I've found a few good pieces of information, I don't have to have a COVID test prior to flying to Mexico. And the process of getting a COVID test in Cozumel doesn't seem that difficult. Just finding one that does a quick turnaround is my next project. The one thing I will do is to document my flight and testing experiences so that I can post and others will hopefully benefit from.

I have a trip (hopefully) to Cozumel Mexico on Friday, April 24th, 2021 to Cozumel. After booking I then researched the protocol of entering and leaving Mexico and the COVID restrictions. I was aware that I needed a Negative test 72 hours prior to my departure, which I will get the day before I leave. However, I will then need another Negative test within 3 days of my departure. On the date of departure, it will be 5 days since I had the test to go to Mexico, so I will still need another one once I land in Cozumel. I've done some research about testing stations in Cozumel, but as of right now I'm a bit confused. Can anyone assist me with how to obtain a test with results in one day, (same day) on the Island of Cozumel. I read somewhere that hotels will give the test but I've not found any in Cozumel that state they will provide them. Maybe one of the SWA employees on here can ask the FA that travels to and from Cozumel. Any help, assistance, or suggestions will be most helpful and appreciated.

@StevenJ You're asking a group of people who in no way can answer this question, we a forum discussion bloggers, not employees of SWA. There are avenues to take that question up with customer service https://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/index.html?clk=GFOOTER-CUSTOMER-SERVICE My question to you is, why aren't you like the many smart people who have just bought the beer at the terminal and flown feeling happy. Surely you're not in that dire of need of another round while flying. But I hope your contact with customer service goes somewhere, as my wife would like a beer on her flights as well, but she has also expressed she can wait if they aren't serving.

@italipower I guess my main thought on this is, if you're that upset, why don't you file the lawsuit, or express your intent to file it and get others to come on board. I'm not sure why you would expect somebody else to locate an attorney and have them do all the leg work, (and possibly money) for you to get your satisfaction. When you have located the attorney for this and are ready to file the suit, let me know and I may jump in with you. But based on the many credible answers already given, very unlikely this will win.

I was on a flight this weekend going to Amarillo, TX. When checking the flight tracker I always see the little red circle of SWA destination cities and that blue dot for other points of interest. When I scrolled down to Mexico I seen the red dot on Mexico City as an SWA destination? When I was going to book a flight a couple of years ago to the see NFL game that was being played there, it showed that SWA didn't fly there anymore. Am I missing something or is the flight tracker indicating the wrong thing? I'm hoping I missed the fact that SWA is still/returned to flying to Mexico City because I'm booking a flight soon.

@Tucson If you contact customer service, throw in a direct flight between Tucson & Albuquerque again. Frustrating that a 1-hour flight between these 2 cities takes me to either Las Vegas, Denver, or Dallas, to sit there for over an hour and then on to Tucson. No flight under 5 hours and as long as 8. Don't get me started on the ABQ to El Paso (45 min direct flight) that now has no direct flights without going to again the aforementioned stops on the way. It's a 4:30 drive by car, and no flight between the 2 cities is less than 5:45.

@Silveamarie1984 While I won't go out on the limb and say all FA that works for SWA is diligent about making customers comfortable and happy, I do so many that are. Hellos when you board, smiles and assisting. (This is partially for the individual that stated that she saw 2 just taking in the back) What you experienced is something that was a bit out of the ordinary, but obviously happened. I have a son-in-law that we have to purchase the extra seat card for when he flies, but we have also done the upgrade to the early board to help him get on first. I just not sure why a conversation didn't happen prior to the FA requested the girls to move. As suggested, send your complaint to customer relations and hopefully, the topic will be addressed to the FA what a more suitable protocol might be in the same situation.

🙄 Wow, this is something I didn't even have any idea happened. Once again, the intent of why there is this forum is to allow people to be informed. But in this case, not knowing would have been better for me, I wouldn't have noticed that it cost more points to go somewhere. Not a huge amount, but if anyone wants to play with the figures just for fun, I have 413, 764 points. What were they worth prior to and after this sad change. I totally agree with the person who said, maybe a heads up would have been the respectable thing to do. Glad I booked a month ago a trip to South Padre Island for 7 of us, 5 of them with points.

@eatapeach Sorry, I'm vocal about wanting SWA to continue with masks, in fact, I wanted them before the pandemic. So there. If your so sensitive about being asked to wear a mask, stay home. In fact, you've just encouraged me to send multiple communications to customer relations supporting their mandate of masks. Thanks for the push.

@rwwood Your statement, "So far I don't see that Southwest has taken a public stand against these anti-democratic laws that are designed to make it more difficult for many people, especially people in communities of color and poorer communities to exercise their right to vote." I stand with you that anyone shouldn't be provided with obstacles to make their constitutional right to vote, happen. What SWA does, or doesn't do, will be known, I'm sure they are in a dialog on this issue as we speak. IMO, you can say words that guide you to feel they are taking a stand, but unless they stop flying to Georgia, (and I know this won't happen) then what's the deal? Again, JMO. Now my issue with your statement, you call it an "anti-democratic law," and I beg to differ. No law should be either Republican or Democratic, it should be a universal law for the people. I hope there aren't any Democratic laws out there, I hope all laws are for all people regardless of political affiliation.
