@jackiereed6 wrote: Could you rebook your flight with residual travel funds and instead of cancelling it, just change the flight and pay fare differences for the dates needed? Ex: I have to rebook my flight before 8/22/18, but I need to fly 8/24/18-8/26/18. If I book a flight that is before 8/22, can I then change my flight to the later dates and pay the fare difference? Not cancel it, but just change it. Will they say I can't because the funds expire, even thought I booked the dates to fly before it expired? I just hate that the funds would expire literally days before I need to use them. I don't fly much, so it's a shame. From what I have seen on here, SW doesn't seem to budge on extending, also, paying $100 to extend would literally defeat the purpose of extending since that's more than half the cost of the flight cost. (Hopefully that made sense?) That does make sense, but unfortunately the answer is no. The system won't let you book (or change to) any flight that takes place after your funds will be expired.

Not sure anyone here can give you that answer. Here is something you can do. The last opening for a Flight Attendant job was 2/5/18 and now is closed. "In order to remain consistent in our hiring practices and to be fair to all applicants, they only accept applications for a specific position, and only when the job listing is active on the Careers page." The flight attendant positions would only be listed under the city of Dallas Texas, the Southwest Airlines main headquarters. The best thing you can do is set up a profile to be notified when jobs become available here https://tinyurl.com/y8p82yya See current job openings at Southwest Airlines here Careers page https://tinyurl.com/yalmfmzr Good Luck!

Ironcally, I was on the 7 pm Midway/Love field flight last night. We delayed so that a connecting passenger could board -- and then waited a bit longer for that passenger's luggage to make it to our plane. Of course, no one connects in Dallas at 9:15 pm so our delay wasn't going to cost anyone a connection, although our plane was to turn around and fly back to Chicago. So it also was delayed. No one connets in Chicago after midnight either. So the delays affected no connections, which is why Southwest allowed the delays. The delays only affected the airliine's on time stats. We were 20 minutes late. No big deal.

For your information, there is nothing in the Federal Air Regulations that prohibits a flight attendant from being hard of hearing. Part 91.533 of the FARs covers flight attendant requirements and says: No person may serve as a flight attendant on an airplane when required by paragraph (a) of this section unless that person has demonstrated to the pilot in command familiarity with the necessary functions to be performed in an emergency or a situation requiring emergency evacuation and is capable of using the emergency equipment installed on that airplane. Therefore, any decision on whether or not to hire a hard of hearing flight attendant is solely up to the respective airline. I honestly don't know how the ADA applies to safety-related positions. Follow @franktravel advice and set up a profile so that you can be notified of Southwest opportunities. And check the Southwest Jobs page often! Good luck to you. I'm sure you'd be a real asset to Southwest in any Hospitality position.

Be aware that you also choose if your ticket remains refundable or not. "Fully refundable" fares on Southwest become non-refundable if you make any change to the itinerary at any time. Never change, always cancel and rebook any "refundable" fares, in order to keep them refundable.

Hello, Many of the previous responses hit it spot on. I would love to add however that as long as there is at least 30 minutes before the next flight starts boarding the Flight Crew would LOVE if you got off. They cannot exit the aircraft if passengers stay on. But if all passengers continuing on get off they are also able to get off and get food. So if time permits I highly recommend getting off. They have to get a head count before. As far as boarding passes go I have had it both ways. One time I only had one boarding pass so they checked my ID against the flight itinerary and that’s how I boarded again (Before they started actually boarding) and another time I had a second boarding pass. I do recommend getting the perfect seat prior to getting off though. Hope this helps! Enjoy your flight 🙂

I second what @franktravel said about checking the Southwest Careers page every day. In fact, I would recommend checking it several times a day if you have the time. Jobs at MDW tend to be very popular and are usually only posted for a day or two before they are unposted. It would behoove you to be one of the first candidates to apply. I should get a Community badge for using "behoove you" properly in a sentence.

@nateraide004 wrote: Would I be able to get a position as a flight attendant while living in Austin, or do I need to relocate and move to a city where there is an airport base? If the answer is that I need to relocate, is this a standard rule across all airlines, or do some allow you to work from any airport? I'm also interested to find out why this rule would be in place. The general rule among the airlines is that you only have to be at your crew base when you are on duty. It is quite common for flight crews to live in one city and commute to their crew base in another. Most flight attendants get what is known as a "crash pad" at their crew base. A crash pad is an apartment or home close to the airport shared by a bunch of airline employees. It's usually filled with couches and/or beds. Any flight attendant who has been around for more than six months can recommend a good crash pad. You can also stay in the crew lounge in the airport or at a local hotel if you can afford it. Your crew base is determined by your seniority. I'm not positive but I'm guessing that the Dallas and Houston flight attendant bases are fairly senior, so you probably won't be able to hold one of the bases close to your home in Austin. Let me know if you have any other questions. I'll try my best to answer them.

@teach871969 wrote: That actually doesn't work. I was trying to use my LUV voucher to book 2 roundtrip flights from ISP to BWI, August 23-27. There is a $49 sale for that particular flight, which is due to expire in 14 minutes. I went through the steps you listed and there was no space to enter the voucher/security code numbers. I called Southwest Customer service at 10:30 PM EST and was told there was a 120 minute wait. Considering the sale ends in 14 minutes, I guess I'm out of luck! I just find it curious that there is a two hour wait the evening that a sale you are running is due to expire. Unfortunately, it is a bit harder to find in the new booking website layout. Under Payment Method, there's a line that says Southwest® gift card, Travel Funds, or Southwest LUV Voucher. Click on it to open up the area where you'll infout the info from your voucher. The phone lines are always super busy during a sale (especially near the end of the sale period), and this is traditionally one of the largest sales of the year. If you booked but didn't apply the voucher, check the fare again. If it's still the same you can cancel now, within 24 hours, for a full refund, then rebook and apply the voucher. If the fare has increased, perhaps you can use the voucher on another flight.
