@FD wrote: Rising Star- you totally missed my point about the virus, the declaration of an National Emergency and instructions from the government to stay away from large crowds of people. You are so focused on defending your policy that you didn't take the time to LISTEN, or address anything concern I expressed. But please respond to this email. I'm all ears I am a customer just like most everyone else here. I'm not defending the policy just stating it. If I was in charge of the airline there may be a couple things I'd do differently but since I don't work for Southwest and im not in charge all I can do is share my feedback with the airline. That's why I suggested you contract southwest so maybe they can assist you on a case by case basis. -Blake

On top of what was already mentioned every airline raises prices the closer the date gets a flight at 2 weeks out will be a different price than the same flight 3 days out even if the plane is half full. I do believe they should cap fares right now but unfortunately that's not the case.

@JohnnyQ wrote: Blake, While NO AIRLINE is issuing refunds for non-refundable tickets, they are allowing free change of travel plans that are good 12 months FROM DATE OF TRAVEL, NOT DATE OF BOOKING. Your reply to "shame on southwest" has pissed off a lot of people, me included. Do the right thing Southwest..consider refunds for ALL tickets or, at the very least, change of travel that is good from 12 month of the original TRAVEL date, not booking date. JetBlue is the only carrier doing anything close to what you mentioned, and it is actually 12 months from the date of cancellation, not travel. All other carriers, including Southwest, begin the 12-month counter at the date of original purchase. Things are constantly changing however so the best advice is to keep checking.

There's no way to know at this point.. If it is cancelled SW will put you in the first available seat after your scheduled departure time.. If you don't like that, you can contact the airline, tell them to move you to a different flight (of your choosing that has seats for sale .. or you'll be able to ask for a refund.

This was resolved in another thread, the op stated they were initially given incorrect information and it somehow also involved Southwest Vacations. This same topic was posted to multiple threads

The "accounting" for the tickets is done at the individual passenger level.

@CindyRD I would send Southwest a written letter explaining the situation and your request. Most of us here are other customers so I don't know if it will work though it can't hurt. Click "Contact Us" to get their mailing address. I'm really sorry to read about everything you wrote 😞

One of my favorite Southwest tools is their flight schedule page. Here is a link for the GEG to LAS route, weekly view, starting in April. Click on the "<" and ">" buttons to scroll through weeks. Hopefully this helps: https://www.southwest.com/air/flight-schedules/results.html?departureDate=2020-04-01&destinationAirportCode=LAS&originationAirportCode=GEG&scheduleViewType=weekly&timeOfDay=ALL_DAY

I would try reaching out to southwest on Twitter or Facebook as hold times are long on the phone. Another option you could try is the in app chat feature sometimes it's online other times its not they have helped me quickly in the past. You could also try making the change on the computer in case its a problem with the app. -Blake

If your trying to change on the computer I would try the mobile app or try a different browser. If your having the issue on the app then I would try the computer. If the problem still persists I would try reaching out on Twitter or though the chat function on the app as suggested by SWDigits. -Blake

A lot of people hear and understand your frustration however what southwest is doing is no different from any other airline right now. The Other airlines are letting people change/cancel for free and those who cancel get a travel credit to use within a year of when they booked there flights. All the other airlines are temporarily matching Southwest's policy. One idea is you could wait to cancel and hope the flight is cancelled by southwest or delayed by over an hour and they could then look in to a refund. If you would like Southwest to look in to your specific case you can reach out though one of these methods: Submitting a Suggestion and/or Complaint -Blake

If you don't have a Rapid Rewards account the credit will be under the confirmation number that you changed so your current confirmation number.

For all of you who are giving the poster a bit of grief about their concern, let me ask you a question. What monetary difference would it make for Southwest to extend travel funds until this outbreak is over? The answer is "no difference" unless you consider that if they don't they'll keep the poster's money and supply nothing in return. It wouldn't cost Southwest one dime to simply extend the expiration dates. This person is not asking for a refund. If the poster doesn't feel safe putting their family onto a plane at the moment who are any of you to lecture them? I'm a pilot. If any of you were to decide you didn't feel safe flying with me for ANY reason I'd be ok with that because a person's fear whether real or imagined is just as terrifying. I'm also an avid motorcycle racer. I have no fear of being on my bike at 175 mph but I'll bet you would. Each and every one of you probably has a fear of one kind or another that the poster would consider to be irrational. Give the poster a break. Southwest (and every other business) is in the business of making their customers feel good about their experience. The stance that Southwest has taken with this will simply cause lost customers and lost revenue. The reasonable decision would be to just extend the travel funds beyond this (yes media hyped) outbreak.

The system won't allow you to change the travel date to be after the funds expire. So for example if you book for returning july 14th and try to change to July 15th it will give you an error.

The travel funds would be held under the confirmation number you are canceling and the money you paid with a credit card will go back to the credit card or you can hold those funds for a future flight. Keep in mind the travel funds that you applied to this reservation that your canceling will keep the earlier expiration date.

When I last talked with the More Rewards office they offered to do a "one-time complimentary replacement" on ONE of the orders. I had three orders. One was for $100, one for $125, and one for $150. Of course, the one they were going to replace was the one for $100 and I still don't have their "one-time complimentary offer" in my mailbox.

@Cable-TV-Guy wrote: It's not a question of price for the A321. It is a question of availability. Airbus' factories are running faster than ever - at the highest capacity ever. The aircraft is sold out for the next 5 years, so it can't just "turn out a few more" for Southwest. The only way any airline gets a few A321s in the near term is if Airbus talks another customer into giving up some near term delivery slots.

Be sure to do it secretly if you have your friend pay you for the funds since you can't sell funds or vouchers. Maybe a "thank you" Southwest Gift Card in a similar amount would be better. 😂 This one should be okay though - not selling the travel funds, the friend already has them in the bag.

Do I have to get it from baggage claim, recheck it, and go back through security at X, or can I check it all the way through to Y? --Jessica You'll have to ask the agent to "check luggage through" to the LAS destination, they won't automatically go all the way, without asking for this the luggage would be delivered to the intermediate city. Think of it as making a round-trip flight but all in one day and you don't return to where you started.
