@queen1979 i just tried searching a few routes myself during those dates and don't see the message you are talking about with waiting approval. could you by chance take a screen shot and send it here that way we can try to help or if you provide the city you see the message happening to like if you see it when searching from MCO or BWI to PUJ as it may be a glitch with a specific date or city pair. Thanks Blake

I remember they had some sale like this in October last year as I booked my crazy AUS to LBB route to hit A List preferred $103 RT with a few hours to play in Vegas glad they have it again so I can make an early run towards A List for next year rather than waiting for December like I did last year. In Orlando I was put on standby at one gate and that agent forgot to hit the A List button so when I was confirmed on the new flight at the other gate it charged me the extra points to the anytime fare I noticed it and after telling the agent at the gate he's like let me make a call and got it fixed in about 10min rather than you can call customer relations later on to me going above and beyond for an issue he didn't create-- KICKTAIL for being amazing and saving me the phone call to customer relations Blake

Back when the gay couple was denied Family Boarding, they had the children's grandparents with them, and there was much discussion afterwards regarding the denial being because of the grandparents, and not because they were a non-traditional family. In general, Family Boarding is for the children and their parents(s) or guardian(s), only, not the extended family.

@jenmorr1975 You can add your companion up until 1 hour before flight departure as long as seats are still available The best advice I can give you is to book the companion ticket now and if the companion can't go you can cancel the ticket for free and request a refund (as long as you haven't made any flight changes since booking the companion ticket). By booking now it will guarantee a seat for the companion if he is able to go. If you book and need to change flights later on I would cancel request a refund then rebook because if you just change the flight the security fees become non refundable. If you have any further questions let me know! Blake

Morning. The TSA Pre line normally moves a lot faster than the other lines because it involves less activity from travelers: people do not need to take out liquids in plastic bags, computers, don't have to take off shoes, do not need to remove all items from pockets, and in some cases do not even have to take off their light jackets. People in the fly by lanes have to do those things, and it slows the process down.

@chgoflyer wrote: Southwest is basically reinventing itself. It's really no longer a no-frills, low fare carrier -- that role has been taken over by carriers like Spirit and Frontier, etc. Now the focus is on offering the best "overall travel value." Interesting . That strategy seems to be working. I regularly follow another airline related blog. There's a discussion about Jet blue planning to add a deep discount fare(Spirit like service) to it's portfolio. There's discussion about whether or not Southwest will need to do so to remain competitive ( since it seems everyone else is adding the "low" level of service option). Another blog follower chimed in an basically confirmed what chgoflyer said: " I just did a cross country rt this week and chose WN with a connection over AA nonstop. And I'm a lifetime AA gold. I had really exemplary WN crews on all 4 flights. Really service-oriented FAs. I get points that actually can be redeemed. I had a long connection and walked over to a random WN gate and asked the agent for a standby on an earlier flight and within 10 seconds I got an earlier flight boarding pass with a smile. I like to reward service instead of nickel-and-diming." "

I would go back to your confirmation email and see if your RR number is on the reservation as there are times it may jump off especially if you make the reservation over the phone if it says join or add number under the RR then you would need to request past flight points after 48 hours of your flight completion as @franktravel stated. If you are booked on a RT flight all travel must be complete before points will post to your account if you need further assistance just let me know Blake

@bec102896 wrote: As @DancingDavidE if they didn't reuse the boarding numbers from people who cancelled or no showed or even miss connected because of say a delay then you could end up with more boarding groups and that would confuse people so to keep it simple they just keep it to ABC plus family and preboard. Oh and @DancingDavidE i have actually seen a C63 boarding pass myself back when they had the A List glitch on the monitor it just says C 31+ as I asked a gate agent once as I was curious on another note I have known people to call and ask to be unchecked in wait a few seconds to re check in to see if they get a better boarding position only thing is someone could check in and take your boarding spot and you in turn have a worse position so that is a at your own risk kind of thing. That makes sense - so the monitors can show "+" and the boarding passes will actually show higher numbers in the C group? That's a funny trick for those people unchecking and then re-checking - if you were already C15 then what's the harm to give it a try! I wouldn't do this with an A or B boarding pass though.

I bet that only a very small percentage of people cancel the 2nd part of a round trip, so they should let people check in Once for a RT. I missed this post before, sorry for the late response - this won't work (among other reasons) because you'd be checking in earlier than others who on the same flight might be the first leg of their RT flight checking in at T-24.

@dauxier Schedule changes are no fun but unfortunately when the airline adds new routes they have to take away routes as well since they don't have an unlimited number of planes and crews as well as gates at airports. The good news is they do have Saturday non stops and Sunday 1 stop no plane change during the winter from what I see on the website from SDF to PHX. After doing ting some research it looks like your daily non stops will return on March 7th which tells me that maybe they took the non stop away during the winter because it may not be popular during that time of year. Now with the next schedule release I'm not sure if the non stops will remain like they are in March but the best thing to do is let Southwest know how much you would like that route by emailing them from the contact us link at the bottom of the Southwest home page or you can message Southwest on Facebook or Twitter. Hope the future schedules will work for you! Blake

It would be interesting to see if any one is actually booking round trip flights to PVR from DTW in Jan. or Feb. can't be done now ! I think SW is loosing out by not adjusting some flight schedules by 1 hr. at least a couple per week so a round trip flight could be booked. SW needs to do there home work and step up there coustomer service. Its like bookig flights only 6 moths out. People planning a international trip with time shares , or a crusie book airfare most of the time a yr. in advance.

@garymichelson1 You might call reservations and could also try calling group reservations (if your not successful by calling reservations then try calling the group desk) and see if they have a way to add it before the flight I was successful on one group reservation In the past and not successful on another group reservation (maybe someone new who didn't know how to do it or a policy change) I know you can get points after travel is complete by requesting past flight credit. Of course if you can't get the RR number added before the flight you can always try to add it at the gate and at a minimum they should let you board between A and B groups even if they can't add the number as long as they could verify your A List. On the one group reservation I was on where the number couldn't be added they just stamped XT on my boarding pass and I was able to board between A and B groups no problem even with it not showing my A List. hope it works out for you! Good point. It's better to make changes now instead of waiting til the time that eveyone is doing it. It appears that high pressure in the mid Arlanic guarantees the hurricane will hit the US, and most wester models bring it in between Norfolk and Wilmington.

@Mafu26 At this time Southwest is not hiring for Hawaii just yet but stay tuned as they will most likely make an announcement here in the community when they are ready to start hiring for Hawaii. You can also create a profile on the Southwest careers site and sign up for alerts so you can be one of the first to know when applications are being accepted. Hope this helps Blake

@MOnkie_08 to book a YT reservation you would select an adult (since they are over 2 years old) and when you click through the payment screen it would ask you to fill out the info for the YT after you click purchase since then it would see this is a YT. You could also call reservations at 800-435-9792 and they can help you book it as well with no over the phone booking fees. Hope this helps Blake

@MandySue1024 Maybe those people came from the thru flight that had a plane swap. for example MCO to AUS with a stop in Houston but no change of planes then they arrive in Houston and they have a new plane for HOU to AUS so they get to board before Business Select as they would have already been on the plane and this case would have families since a lot of families come from Orlando but I have not seen any other times where families board first. If you would like to discuss with Southwest directly you can reach out on Twitter or call customer relations and they can look in to the flight to see what occurred and why families boarded first. Hope this helps Blake

Southwest requires point earning activity in your Rapid Rewards account once every 24 months in order to keep it active and avoid forfeiting all points. Unfortunately, once they are forfeited, they are gone. The only way I know of to possibly have them reinstated is if you had point earning activity in the past year that wasn't credited to your account. If so, contact Customer Relations and be prepared to show proof. Good luck.

@SoothSayer Just like what @bec102896 said, there can be many factors that lead to delays. I’m just curious as why you feel like you are being lied to? SW doesn’t want flight delays just like you don’t. Delays throw off the planes schedule and create customer complaints. If the the real issue is about the gate agents compassion or customer service, I encourage you to reach out to SW via Twitter. I would only mention the facts about your experience and be reasonable. Hope the rest of your day goes better.

@D-S If your A List you would be checked in without needing to buy EB check in and your boarding pass is pre assigned so you can check in when you get to the airport. If you bought EB then you will be checked in automatically after A List customers and you will be checked in based on when you bought your ticket. you can check in at 24 hours to see your boarding pass or you can wait until you arrive at the airport to check in Most airlines make you wait until 24 hours before your flight to be able to obtain your boarding pass. Hope this helps Blake

After a bad car accident a few years ago, I became fearful of flying--no logical correlation, but I think it had to do with loss of control. I had to fly for work, so I had to work through it. I did a couple of things--first is I always sat on the aisle. That way I could virtually ignore that I was on a plane 🙂 I also reminded myself how rarely anything goes wrong on a plane--it's an anomaly so the odds are in your favor. Note my user name--16C became my go-to seat. It was over the wing, I couldn't see past it (blocking the visual again) and it became comfortable for me. If you aren't flying on a recurring basis, having that comfort may not help. I also brought a good book--one I could really get into and completely lose myself in. I started reading immediately and stayed focused. Do one more thing...roll your window down on your car while driving/riding and stick your arm out the window like you used to do when you were a kid. Notice how the wind lifts your hand/arm. When you are moving forward the lift makes it where it is literally easier for your hand to stay up than down. You have to force it down. As a plane moves through the air rapidly, it's the same concept. It's literally easier for it to stay up. This is a very rudimentary reference to Bernoulli's Principle if you want to read a more scholarly account. 🙂 You can look it up and there are some YouTube videos if you want to hear the real deal. These days I fly all the time for work...and I can even look out the windows. Drop your shoulders, breathe deep. You'll get there!
