Curious how this turned out for you? Did you take your bike to Maui? I am trying to do the same thing in a couple of months.

You’re unbelievable. I have a companion, so I can’t get the online booking to work. Worse, their next flight that is available basically makes my entire trip pointless. This isn’t a 1 day delay, the app says they don’t have a flight till Thursday night with an open seat and that isn’t even assured. I haven’t had a vacation in a year and not only have they ruined the scheduled vacation I planned for 3 months (can’t cancel it), I lose the days, and worse, they ruined my Christmas, because by the time I get there, the other half of the family will have gone home.
I was on hold for 3 hours and 14 minutes when I heard what sounded like the VOIP server crashing and the call drop.

This is all around incompetence and the CEO should be fired Monday morning.
I was a huge fan of SWA. No more, I will never recommend them again, I will never be loyal to them again.

SW's stated policy is that as long as there is a mask mandate, service will consist of no more than 4 different drinks plus coffee. Why? To minimize flight attendant potential exposure to Covid.

If you're suggesting Southwest is lying just to mess with you I don't think anything will ever satisfy you. What else would you like Southwest to do? Fax it to you? There's a lot of variables between Southwest and you that neither of you can control. Just because something goes wrong in that space does not automatically mean Southwest is screwing you. --TheMiddleSeat

I know what you’re saying here, but SWA recently changed a few upcoming autumn flights of mine due to…who knows. The times were anywhere from 30 minutes to a few hours’ difference, usually at the expense of my vacation time, but OK, whatever. But then I noticed, weeks after the changes, that in some cases, the flights went from non-stop to having a connector, or a longer layover, or from having one connection to two (for instance, they now had me going DAL-DEN-MDW-PHL instead of DAL-MDW-PHL…lol, get out!). None of that was expressed in the initial changes email. When there are options to get from A to B, that matters—layovers matter, time in the air matters, number of connections matter.

I’ve been flying Southwest 2-3x a week for several years now—I’ve been meaning to finally join this messageboard I’ve lurked for so long, so thanks, as it’s a good question. When I first took a field job, I primarily chose Southwest because of the frequency of service to my two prime stops, Albuquerque and New Orleans (but I handle Portland OR to San Juan PR, and can/do use SWA to get to all those locales). In the intervening years, the reasons have changed: 1. The Companion Pass, one of the better if not best reward of all the domestic airlines—my wife flies for free with me and we use the heck out of it with no restrictions. 2. The customer service. On the phone and at the gate and on the plane and on social media, I’ve always had good, usually very good, responsive experiences with staff. 3. Open seating. As I most often book less than a week before flying, I love that I’m not stuck picking the best of a bunch of middle seats. Now, those are my main reasons, they might not work for others, just as others’ reasons reasons might not be best for me (like, I very very rarely check a bag, but I like knowing I can for free if I choose). And I’m not saying they are perfect, not hardly. They had a pretty rough early summer, as poor COVID business decisions SWA made and outside tech issues and the severe weather created a perfect storm of problems that pax had to suffer through (and I did). I’ve done my share of complaining to Southwest staff for sure. But for the vast majority of the time, before and since, they get me there on time (or early) and most importantly, safely (their top track record on that is important to me, too). I’m a happy customer, which is more than I can say for, say, my rental car companies. Now, if you don’t like them, fine, whatever, but no one here can do anything about it (or even care, to be frank)—it’s a messageboard for pax to share info and opinions amongst themselves. Good luck/Godspeed.

@OCReporter I totally get your frustration. I too have experienced this (AA, DL, UAL). One thing I always take away from the delays/cancellations is how I was treated by the airline. Sorry this happened.

It's sad to hear your experience. I too have had some service challenges flying SWA in the last several months. They have all been reasonably resolved. It seems clear you've given up on SWA, "blowing up the board" on a customer to customer forum is pointless and waste of your energy. Best of luck to you in the future and I wish you safe travels

@keasbey wrote: Last time I flew with SW, they canceled my nonstop flight due to weather. Put me on a connecting flight orlando-pittsvurgh-denver. Delayed hours at Orlando. Delayed hours at Pittsburgh because their communications went down. Was about to just rent a car because I have an actual schedule to keep. 0/10 would not recommend SW. They should've auto-issued a refund for the last flight I took. But they actually felt secure taking my money. I feel insecure spending it with them ever since It is as I suspected. You flew when SWA had all the issues a month ago and were caught in the middle of it. Many were. It sucks. Southwest has been trying to make it right, even with giving refunds (which, FWIW, you are entitled to anyway when Southwest cancels your flight - but you are not entitled to a refund if they reroute you and you actually take the flights you are assigned). --Jessica

Southwest at Denver is the worst. Get stuck travelling to or from there all the time Everytime. Dont expect anything to go smooth through Denver with this company. Pick any other one and lo and behold you might reach your destination

I have an even better one. Beware of Southwest changing your itinerary months in advance (ok cool... I understand that).... and re-booking your companion's (as in Companion Pass holder) return flight on a totally different flight. And as you're leaving Cancun, the desk agent says that your companion's return flight left hours earlier!! Yes my wife was booked as my companion the whole time and in their schedule change, they put her on a completely different return flight. It never occurred to me to watch out for something like that since she's my document companion. Luckily, the agent was able to re-book her on the 3:40pm flight I was on.

Definitely the risk you run flying with southwest My favorite is when it's 4:30pm, you check your flight , it says good. Then you show up at the airport and it updates to say as of 4:05pm that its been changed by SW

Yup , terrible experiences. Pretty usual of Southwest... "we didn't want to hurt our reputation so we canceled 300 people's flight." Had a flight get canceled from Orlando last month. They reschedule me the next day on a connecting flight through Pittsburgh to denver. The rescheduled flight was hours last leaving despite clear skies. Afterward communications went down In denver. Sat in an empty Pittsburgh Airport with no vouchers, compensation, or basic care for people who spent hundreds on a flight thats taking days too long. Nothing. I've drove from Florida to Colorado 3 times so far. Would take the drive over a southwest flight anyway at this point for that route. At least I know what say ill get there

Totally agree with you, you should get what you pay for Southwest isn't in the business of delivering that. Would recommend literally any other airline so you don't have to deal with their "quirks" , sincr Southwest decides to identify their flaws as such.

Half the time southwest wifi doesn't work, most people who fly with them travel so little that they believe the wifi works great. At least 3/10 times the wifi takes my money and provides no value Gotta LUV southwest.
