By this time the past few days, Southwest had already cancelled 50% or more of their flights the following day. Today (Thursday) is showing a total of 39 cancelled flights for Friday (less than 1% of the schedule.). I also read that Southwest has resumed selling tickets for flights beginning on Friday. It really looks like they may be on track to operate a fairly regular schedule on Friday.

Sad. My guess is that the new CEO will be forced to resign.

Sorry to hear of your troubles.
Southwest has said it would reimburse reasonable costs of the type you have incurred. How long will it take? No one knows. You and tens of thousands+ will be asking for refunds and this is not something Southwest has ever done in the past - so it have to invent the methodology on the fly.

Try international customer service numbers:
https://mobile.southwest.com/html/contact-us/intl-customer-service.html
These aren't the only ones. Google Europe and Asia as well. They are servicing domestic US flights. Best of luck!

A similar thing happened to me but not for a layover. I was just at the airport for 2 days and went back home but on Christmas Day they canceled the entire trip, finishing on Thursday, 12/29 with no rebook. Instead, they gave a refund credit which you can dispute and request a cash refund on the contact me page. Posters on this site suggest calling the international numbers for the airlines as they are answering for domestic flights. Here's more info:

We booked a round trip flight from Sacramento to Las Vegas for 12/29-1/1. We got word that our outbound flight on 12/29 was cancelled via text this morning. If I login, everything looks normal and there is no cancellation noted. I have decided to simply drive out to Las Vegas on 12/29 given the uncertainty and still would like to fly back with our original flight on 1/1. Are they going to cancel the entire reservation or just the outbound flight? The system doesn't allow me to cancel just the outbound leg and request a refund for just that one leg.
For that reason on self-service I like to book one-way flights on Southwest.
Although during this period of irregular operations it may be beneficial at times to show all your segments on one confirmation number. In normal times it would require a call to keep part of an itinerary so I’d keep trying on the phone.
I should add that you can also swing by the airport if it is on the way and the lines are down by then to talk to someone in person.

You can no longer rebook online. I just get error messages. My only option would be to start a new reservation. The problems keep changing and getting worse. The only rebook option is going to an airport gate station, apparently. Phone lines are down.

How about you get stranded somewhere for days on end with out so much as a refund? How would you feel?

It must be nice. My flight was canceled, and I was not rescheduled. It says that I can reschedule online, but I get an error when I try. It says that I need to see a ticket agent. I certainly won't be calling because it is always busy.
My big issue right now, besides getting home, is that I only brought one extra day of prescription meds that I need to, well, live. Not sure what I will be doing come Wednesday night.

I fly SW every month and have done for almost 2 decades. I had a holiday cancellation back in the 90s due to a flight attendant strike. I last flew on 12/1. My only complaint was no drink service. I booked and rebooked 3x this weekend (a flight reserved a month in advance) and all were canceled, one at 1 a.m. They were missing a pilot. He got there and then a flight attendant bailed. The website is down, the phones are down. The text messages are late and inaccurate. People are walking off the job at SW. In droves apparently. LAX Terminal 1 was a ghost town this weekend after flight after flight was canceled. Something is definitely, terribly wrong because they are a very reliable airline.

I was booked and rebooked on three flights this weekend from LAX to SJC. An hour's flight, two on Christmas Eve and the last one on Christmas Day. Spent ten hours in the airport until 1 am. All were canceled. I didn't even get a notification that yesterday's rebooked flight was canceled. I had to rely on a flight tracking app to see what was going on. When I went online SW refunded my money. No notice, no nothing. Completely wasted my holiday.
