Hello!
I would first check your purchase history with Southwest in your email box if you still have access to these. Southwest will email a receipt for such purchases. If this is not feasible, check with Chase. Not sure if this is tracked via your credit card profile or if you need to contact Chase customer service to verify.

Hello-
I frequent LAS airport. Being a customer-to-customer board, I would forward your incident regarding the supervising CSA and your check-in process at the ticket counter in an email or DM via Twitter/X:

Being a frequent Southwest customer, this is not normal; if a customer has trouble working the self-serve kiosks, I almost always see a CSA on the customer floor assisting.

Gift cards are activated once the buyer scans the card at the self-checkout cash register and finishes the transaction. If you're getting the card from a wholesale club like Costco where there are cardboard card "tickets" of such products, you can also use self-check out, pay for the gift card there, and then take the receipt and ticket to the merchandise pick up area where the clerk will activate the physical card.
For large denomination gift cards (e.g. $500) that I don't get from Costco, I would use a regular checkout lane so that the clerk verifies the transaction is all good, or use the self-checkout but have the self-checkout attendant clerk verify the transaction. I would also use the regular checkout lane for large gift cards purchased at the drug store like CVS whenever the self checkout area is not staffed.

Hi there!
I applied for a Southwest card this summer during their 60,000 points and 30% off promo. I spent the required $3,000.00 within the first three months. I see on my statement that I have the 60,000 points and the promo is reflected on my southwest account. However, I do have have the points or the actual promo code on my southwest account yet. Any idea of when these will show up? Thanks!
It looks like Chase currently has an 80k points offer for a SW Rewards Performance Business Credit Card if $5k is spent within the first three months. I found a Google Ad for it while I was trying to locate some definitive information on your question.
https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/southwest/AEMBiz823
Here's something from the offer details which I believe mirrors the timing of when the 60k points due to you will show to your Rapid Rewards account:
80,000 Bonus Points After You Spend $5,000 On Purchases In The First 3 Months From Account Opening: This new Cardmember bonus offer is not available to either (i) current Cardmembers of this business credit card, or (ii) previous Cardmembers of this business credit card who received a new Cardmember bonus for this business credit card within the last 24 months. To qualify for your bonus points, you must make Purchases totaling $5,000 or more during the first 3 months from account opening. Please allow up to 8 weeks for bonus points to post to your Rapid Rewards® account. (“Purchases” do not include balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.) To be eligible for this bonus offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment.
My prediction: I would wait it out for a little longer (until you get the points sent to your Rapid Rewards account or until at least eight weeks after the three month mark). I assume the timing would be similar for the promo code delivery. After that point, I would ask the bank for a follow up status.

Hello everybody!
I had an opportunity to take my first flight as A-List earlier this month between SAN and LAS which included some incredible beauty, taking care of some of business, and having the privilege of having not one but two TSA screenings for the outbound leg at SAN. Thank goodness for Global Entry! Below is the photo report and what led up to the double passage through the metal detectors.
This A-Lister got solid Priority Boarding positions for both legs: A36 inbound, A32 out. There were about a couple dozen A-Listers booked. Flight 555 was on time and ready to depart at 8:30a nonstop to LAS via a 737-MAX8 at the most lucky of SAN's Gates...13.
I noticed an 8:35a Flight 1020 departure to LAS on the screen which really befuddled me for a moment as it appeared that two scheduled flights were only spaced apart by 5 minutes...That was before I realized that SAN displays all destinations for through flights with multiple stops. Flight 1020 had a marathon journey that started at 6:30am at SJC, stopped at SAN, was due to depart at 8:35am, and was to continue on to ABQ, AUS, DAL, and then back to OAK, and finally to LAS at 9:05pm...
I did my usual things upon arrival. Didn't need to stop at the ticket counter because I was carry-on only. Emptied the water bottle, went through TSA, refilled the water at the fountain airside, and headed to the gate. Boarding's about 12 minutes away at lucky Gate 13...
...and then about 10 minutes before boarding was due to start, at about 7:50am, lucky riches strike! This happened:
My flight was changed to Gate 5. Okay...Gate Change; simple enough...except for one tiny little problem.
Those who frequent SAN airport know that Southwest serves Terminal 1, an older generation facility with two separate concourses that are not interconnected airside. The westside concourse housed Gate 13 as well as Gates 11-18; the eastside has Gates 5-10. Gate 5 was at the east.
After confirming the gate change with the Gate 13 CSA with just under 10 minutes prior to board time, the CSA announced that everybody waiting at Gate 13 to board Flight 555 needed to transition to the east concourse to get to Gate 5. That meant returning to landside for a second trip through TSA...
Thankfully Global Entry w/ PreCheck saved me from most of the hassles and inconveniences of the rescreening. I emptied the water bottle at the bathrooms just outside TSA, went through the PreCheck Lane again, refilled at the fountain, and got to Gate 5 exactly at board time.
Unfortunately, that was not the case for many of my fellow passengers; they had to go through the standard screening line, some had even brought drinks and beverages airside only to discard them. I politely advised Southwest Customer Service in an email about that inconvenience; they responded and had the matter escalated. However to be fair, boarding was held until everybody was re-cleared. TSA staff was on it and got us through. They got all the passengers and the crew through the checkpoint all within about 15 minutes. As mentioned, there about 25 A-Listers which meant they knew the in's and out's of TSA screening and were able to get through via the Priority Express Lane if they didn't have PreCheck.
Made it to east concourse airside...and then, flight got bumped one more gate to the left from Gate 5 to Gate 6.
And there's our bird: Look's like there was an aircraft swap to a 737-800.
Since the eastern concourse offers window views of the construction of New Terminal 1, here's some progress pics:
Looks like crews were building the temporary wall that will separate the Phase 1 build now under construction with the Phase 2 expansion which will be built later in place of the current Terminal 1.
And yes, the New Terminal 1 will have one continuous airside concourse! For the record, once crews build out Phase 2, Terminal 1 passengers will even be able to access Terminal 2 airside for the first time in SAN's history!
Boarding began shortly after 8:15am. Thankfully, the plane was only delayed about 15 minutes by the time we left the gate. By then the captain got on the mic and explained what caused the cross-concourse gate change: The 737-MAX8 plane assigned for a separate Flight 3767 that was to depart a short while later from SAN to HNL broke down. Southwest Hawaii flights use the MAX8 fleet. They moved the HNL flight to Gate 13 with the working 737-MAX8; the HNL bound passengers also had to transition back to landside. That's why the LAS flight was swapped to a 737-800 plane.
Pushed back and on our way...
Nice cool marine layer over Mission Bay:
Remy's Grahams comes along!
Light monsoons make a return too.
A quiet "lounge" for the A-List...Not really. It's seven empty gates at the LAS Gate A17-A23 Concourse. Got some work done before my appointment.
The public transit CX "limo" into town courtesy of RTC.
Took care of my business.
Before heading back to LAS, stopped at the Mirage Hotel volcano attraction before it will be gone...
Hard Rock hotel has big plans to replace this area with a guitar-shaped hotel tower.
Heading back...and plane spotting from an RTC bus station while waiting for Bus 109 to shuttle me back to LAS:
Return 4:30p flight ready to depart on time.
No gate changes this time...in fact, those who frequent LAS know that airside connectors link every concourse of both terminals! One can tour the entire airside area.
Two WN birds cleared for departure!
Did I miss this "Lucky Casino" located somewhere beneath these monsoons? Should have stopped there before heading back to LAS. Must be a pot of gold there!
But watching this golden sunset against the San Diego skyline during final decent was worth much more.
Safe travels! SoCalFlyer97

Financial, or tech? 12 dollars to Southwest better then 0, unless the more people makes more jet fuel?
It's more valuable to hold that seat for an A-list or Business select customer that needs to change flights. I'm sure there is a break-even amount that would make sense to fill it rather than fly empty and that number might be in the $20's or $30's for short flights.
But the strategy is definitely to get the flight booked earlier and charge more later because you can (the flight is worth more, especially last minute business flights that will pay).

Thank you for your kind words. According to Southwest's policy regarding pet carriers:
Southwest Airlines® Pet Carrier - dimensions: 17” (L) x 10” (W) x 9.5” (H).
Other pet carriers with maximum dimensions of 18.5” (L) x 13.5” (W) x 9.5” (H).
I'm assuming the carrier I purchased will be just fine?
Hello! Looking at the policy, yes, Southwest's specified maximum height for the pet carrier is 9.5" as you posted.
https://www.southwest.com/help/booking/pet-policy
Per federal law, the pet carrier must be small enough to fit under the seat in front the paying customer. The dog must also be completely inside the pet carrier and must be able to stand up and move around the carrier with ease.
Given that the carrier in question is 11" in height, I would not use this size given the height clearance limitations beneath the seat regardless of whether the carrier is flexible or can be 'squeezed' down. Unlike regular backpacks, duffels or purses that can be squeezed down, the slack from 'squeezing' a pet carrier cannot constrain the dog from standing or move about in the carrier.
I would also certainly first check and see if your dog can comfortably fit in a 9.5" high carrier and has the ability to stand up an move within it before proceeding any further with any travel planning with the pet aboard Southwest.

Does anyone know the current carry-on policy for guitars in soft side gig bag measuring 39 inches by 17 inches? What are the dimensions of the overhead bin on SWA 737 Max 8?
Hello-
Here is Southwest's Policy for musical instruments for carry-on:
If your musical instrument (including case or covering) is within the size requirements for carryon items 24” (L) + 16” (W) + 10” (H), you may bring it with you as a carryon item. If your instrument exceeds carryon sizing requirements, it can still be carried onboard if it will fit in an overhead bin or under a seat if there is space available.
https://www.southwest.com/help/baggage/special-baggage-sports-equipment
I was not able to find a definitive answer on the total overhead bin space dimensions. In your case, I would check no more than one bag if possible and pack the guitar securely in case the guitar needs to be checked as your second luggage. However, I would try to bring the guitar as a carry-on but upon arriving at the gate, check with the CSA to see if the flight is full and whether there will be extra leftover room in the bin to accommodate the guitar as carry-on; if not, they should be able to gate check it for you.
Also note that for non-Hawaii flights, there is a chance the plane equipment can be swapped for a 737-800 as both use 175 seats.

Hello @CupCrusher40
I assume you're asking what happens to the rain water on a the aircraft's windows when it rains. The speed of the plane typically is fast enough to completely air-dry the raindrops on the windows with no traces of them once the plane goes above the storm. Here's a few shots from a descent into a rainy SMF last from March toward the close of the wet 2022-2023 winter season:

I don't know if it is written anywhere but always allow for a flight that is delayed to be moved back up.
There are a few reasons for this:
I recommend FlightRadar24 to check "where is my plane coming from?" and you can track the inbound flight to see if the issue is a delay occurring previously on your route. Then especially if the flight continues on throughout the day it's likely to go as projected with the delays - plan to be at the gate around when the inbound flight is arriving.
Doing the same thing you may see your plane is already there, but there isn't crew available - this could change on the fly, if crew suddenly becomes available due to some other delay or cancelation the flight time can be moved back up in an instant.
Then also Southwest can arrange for a plane swap and leave earlier with a new plane taken from some other route and move the departure back up. Probably not if there is a big continuing group on the other flight - see if the flight number originates at your airport or if it continues throughout the day. I think this is less likely if the continuing flight will be coming within 1-2 hours.
In fact if the announcement was early enough, head the airport early, if your flight is delayed significantly you can maybe move up onto an earlier flight for free.
I hope this helps!

Beware purchasing the Early Bird checkin. I had to modify my reservation to a new destination city and the Early Bird did not transfer. Called Southwest and was told because I cancelled the first city and rebooked another city that Southwest kept my $50 and I was out of luck.
This policy is BAD. First of all, the customer is doing the work of the Southwest agent. We don't know, nor does Southwest make you aware of the dangers of losing money like this when you utilize their website. Second, this is BAD BUSINESS. i have been a loyal Southwest customer for years and to be treated this way is terrible. I will now look to other airlines to be treated better. MAJOR FAIL SOUTHWEST!!!
I echo @bec102896
I'm assuming you made this change 25 hours or more before departure. I would also try emailing or sending a DM to Twitter and make it clear that your intent of your transaction was to change the destination city on your reservation and not to cancel it altogether and start from scratch. They should have record of both flight confirmations. Here is Southwest's policy:
If I have EarlyBird Check-In and choose to change my flight, will the EarlyBird Check-In transfer as well? EarlyBird Check-In can be transferred only if the new flight departs more than 25 hours from the time of the change. If the new flight departs in less than 25 hours, then you will lose your non-refundable EarlyBird Check-In purchase. Additionally, if the change to your reservation involves a new city pair(s), you will need to contact us to have the EarlyBird Check-In
transferred.
