@desnda93, @DancingDavidE has the best advice. Consolidate two things into one, and then you will have the one carry item and the one personal item. Once on the plane, you can quickly remove your purse from your bag before you put it in the overhead bin. Ironically, you have to get on with two but can exit with three, so as long as you can combine down to two before getting on, you should not have a problem. It might be good to check the measurements of your makeup bag to ensure that it will count as a personal item. I hope that is helpful. Keep in mind that if you have a connection, you will have to “re-consolidate” before boarding the second plane. Fortunately, it is unlikely that you will have to go through security screening again, but not a guarantee because it depends upon the airport and flights. Good travels!

@mkinser wrote: I'm curious about WGA fares being completely sold out. I'm looking to book MKE-SJU round trip for 3/22 - 3/31. The WGA fares have been "sold out" for months. Every flight on 3/20 has WGA fares so I am assuming that SWA just has them locked out yet for the dates I am looking at. Quite possible - either they are expecting these to sell at the higher rate, or some high percentage of the plane has already been sold. @mkinser wrote: .... Can someone please tell me typically how far in advance SWA opens up these fares? No - the fare may be opened up, this could depend on expected demand for flights those days, fares already purchased, and competition with the other guys for these routes. We can say that often these fares may be opened back up but not any specific time, or if this particular route may not be opened back up. There is always the option to book now - which it sounds like would be a refundable fare, and then refund and rebook if you do catch a WGA availability.

@Jojeff, There are some flights that are used as commuting flights, so even as an A-Lister, I would get Bs at times. A flight might be full of A-Listers (and at times, there might be over 45 on the same flight). as @chgoflyer mentioned, you can always board when they call for family and A-Listers who have not yet boarded. So basically, you can be A-61 versus B-1. Sometimes if I have a B boarding pass, I even line up behind A-60 rather than standing in the family boarding area. The advantage there is picking a potentially quieter spot on the plane. (Orlando FL is the typical airport where I do that because family boarding area can be crowded. I am still in line at the spot at which I am supposed to board, so gate agents have not yet complained though I have had to wait until they make the announcement.) Safe and fun travels in the future to you.

I would also like to add...... God rest his soul and my condolences to the Kelleher family. Not every family is as well off others...and even if you are well off, it would be a huge burden lifted, when needing to make last minute arrangements to get family members to their love one's homecoming service? A bereavement discount would be an awesome relief to a very stressful time in a families life during the mourning period.

I have been flying with Southwest since its first year. First flight was from Love Field to San Antonio and back to visit a customer. Walking out the ramp I was handed a fifth of Wild Turkey by none other that Herb himself. Being a Scotch drinker I unfortunately gave it away. A few years later I was on a flight where he was helping the crew clean up the plane. An amazing man who created an amazing aairline. I wish him a great, beautifu and Blessed journey.

As for the careful wording, something like "Our records indicate that you missed a leg of your flight. We hope that you made it to your desitination safely. Within 24 hours we will need to cancel the remainder of your trip unless we here from you about the status of your travel..." Yeah, that probably opens up a can or two of other worms, but at least it would be a helpful alert that something weird happened. I definitely would be expecting an email if something like this happened, ESPECIALLY if it was a SW employee (or software) who rerouted me or had to adjust my trip on my behalf. We've been really fortunate with SW so far, so I haven't had to experience any changes quite like this to date. I would probably blindly think that if they rerouted me, they adjusted the whole itenerary accordingly to look out for my whole trip. Now, i will make a point to spend the time to go ask, if anything does happen.

If you did make the flight you can always let southwest know in the web site about your experience and let them know what you experienced. I don’t think you will get a refund but you might get some sort of compensation for the time you had to wait so I would suggest to do it!

Careers.Southwest.com is the address for applications. Kelby Tansey posted a write up earlier in 2018 about the website. Good luck and I hope the process goes well. Keep in mind that the company usually gets many more applicants than jobs available. You might also want to go back and edit your post to remove your phone and email because this is a public customer to customer forum.

The baggage agent should be able to check your bags through to your destination, regardless of confirmation numbers. (Note that if you do have a single confirmation number this won't be an issue at all -- you'll even be able to use the kiosk to self-check your bags.) This does require additional effort on the agent's part, and I've learned that, following the system conversion, some agents know how to do this and are willing to assist without issue, and some others unfortunately are not. If you are polite, patient, and persistent you hopefully won't have a problem. Please do come back and let us know how it goes!

Yes, you can do it. When you login, the system will populate the ticket info with your data, but then you just change it to their info before hitting the purchase/confirm button. If you go back and change anything before you get to the purchase screen, it will default to your info agin so make sure the input is correct before confirming the purchase. I mention that because other contributors have commented on making errors when they made the final purchase.

@Skilness, i believe you should be able to carry on hot rollers if they have no liquids in them and are just the plug in kind. I have never used them so I do not know if they have liquid inside or not. Here is is an article as to why some cordless curling irons are not allowed (butane). https://www.tsa.gov/blog/2010/10/06/flying-can-be-hair-curling-experience-traveling-curlingstraightening-irons But on their A-Z list of what to bring, I do not see curlers or rollers addressed under C, H or R. Ultimately the TSA personnel have the right to prohibit things on the spot though so if you try to carry them on, you may want a bum a ride to airport so that person can wait in case you cannot take them on — they may give you the chance to take things to your car if parked also. TSA has certain hours during which you can send them questions, but if travel time is soon, you may want to just have an alternative plan like plenty of time and a friend. Good luck and post again after traveling in case someone else has the same question. https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/all

As @CareforNOLA said, you have to pay atention to when points will actually hit your account. The most predictable is flight related points. $1000 in business select fares earns you 12,000 points, and they hit your account almost instantly. Rent car points hit your account pretty promptly, but not always in the correct amount. Dining points are more variable. Hotel points are more hit and miss - especially those with big point totals. Never used the shopping function, so I can't speak to those.

I realize it's been awhile since your post, but just in case you haven't flown yet, and for other readers, the transport chair would be gate checked. How this works: you go to the baggage check-in counter and let them know that you need to do a gate check. They will provide you with the proper paperwork for it. Then, you use the transport chair all the way up to the gate. At the gate counter, you will check in with them and they will label it for you with a bag check label. You can then use it up to the plane's door and the crew will load it from there into the belly of the plane. When you arrive at your destination, they will unload it and have it waiting for you at the door of the plane. Note: it will take them a bit to get it unloaded at the destination, so there's no need to hurry when you arrive. Take your time. 🙂 Happy travels!

I hope that all goes well for you. I sit in airplane seats probably 100 times per year, and although I cannot promise there won’t be a problem, especially with weather issues, I can say that I personally have gotten home every time — sometimes with delays, but that is part of the business. The odds are in your favor, the crew is trained for your safety and I hope you have a great, relaxing flight. Bring something that will distract you from thinking about the flying, and I truly hope all goes without a hitch — like so many flights every day.

@DancingDavidE, I see your point. If people buy EBCI anyway and they still get mid B, there could be even more disgruntlement at the airport. People who are already angry about the pre-boarders could really ramp up the anger.

@vetriselvan, If you are staying at a hotel, I suggest calling and asking if you can ship 2 or 3 boxes to them before you leave so that they arrive while you are there. Less hassle for you and probably less cost. Most hotels will accept shipments because they are used to hosting meetings. Good luck and safe travels.

She just received her first set of drink coupons—the first quarter that she was the eligible age. As a regular recipient of the quarterly envelope myself, I found it a bit sentimental when hers arrived. Reminded me of all the flights to all the places we traveled on my miles and companion pass with Southwest Airlines. Many miles and 21 years together so far. Thanks, Southwest! One and a half for ours...we were enjoying the lap child arrangements but she was getting so big I got a RR account for her early just in case. I think she's mostly been on points so far though, maybe one paid flight.

@eam121612 wrote: Hello! I will be flying in January with my twin boys. I will need to take along two backless booster seats, as well as two umbrella strollers. What's the best way to do this? Check the strollers, and bring the boosters as carry-ons? (I know they can't sit on them on the plane). Or should I put the boosters in one of my luggage bags and check them as one of our carry ons as well? Thank you! You could buy a couple of the Southwest big blue bags and put both umbrella strollers in one, and both boosters in another, or else put the boosters into regular luggage and check them. Among your group - i saw your later reply that there are several adults and the two kidws - each ticketed person gets two bags. Then if they are lap children you get two extra checked bags for baby gear. Even for older kids you get an extra allowance for strollers and car seats specifically, so these items could be +2 and +2 checked bags for you plus the regular 2 per person. I would say pretty common to check them, either at the gate if you'll be using the strollers in the airport or else curbside the whole lot of it for easier navigation at the airport. Not much reason to carry onto the aircraft unless they are fragile in some way, or valuable - regular checking is I believed reported to be over 99% baggage gets delivered, gate check must be nearly 100% and carryon is obviously up to you, 100% in theory. If fragile then gate check or carry on.
