When you check in, the A1 and A2 not available, when you friend check in someone had A1 and A2 cancelled. It happened to with Early Bird check in, I bought it but my wife did not. I got B1 and my wife AXX, I asked the agent at the gate, the answer it could happen when my wife checked in the AXX position open or someone cancelled.

Sometimes it got worse than a person who just check-in 24 hour before. I had EB and got B position, my wife did not have it and got A position. When I asked people at the gate, they told me it is possible since the time my wife checked in, someone had A position cancelled the flight.

Jessica, That's why "I wish", it is more convenience for SW Rapid Reward member having both SW fund and GC in the same location. I would like to go further if SW wants to make their GC more attractive, they may allow member buy when they log in their account so the can pay by credit card on file and the GC number will automatic register in Account.

Gsking, I did see Tom points since I am in the same boat. My wife CP suppose to expire in 2020, so I tried to earn CP in 2020 to cover 2021. She got extend to 2021 (Thank you SW, it is very generous). So right now, both of us have CP expires in 2021. Technically, we do not loose anything but it seems my CP is not worth anything or her extension CP is not worth anything since we only need one for both of us to travel. I am not whining and still very appreciated SW for a generous offer. However, I just try to explain for people who got CP in 2020 and could not use it in 2020, they feel like they only have CP for one year 2021 but people like my wife who had CP in 2019 and she got extend to 2021.

I am planning to book a flight from PHL to SNA with the connection at PHX. My question is later I may decide to stay in PHX for few days to meet my friends if they can make it, can I just fly to PHX and not fly to SNA? The reason I may do it since later the price may going up.

You could not, however, book something like a BOS-BWI and also a BOS-LAX on the same day." Thanks so I misunderstood the rules, I thought you just can't book 2 tickets the same. It is great since the flight from BOS to BWI usually cheaper than the flight from BWI to LAX.

"If you split the first flight into 2 reservations (BOS-BWI and BWI-LAX) it could possibly be cheaper AND allow you to add the companion to the second half. In this case you could also factor in the cost of the flight for the companion to see if it’s cheaper booking separately and adding a companion or booking one reservation for you and also purchasing a flight BWI-LAX for the companion" I think you can't book 2 tickets on the same day, SW system will cancel your reservation

Hi, May my companion only travel with me 1/2 trip ? For example, I book a round trip from Boston to LA and stop at BWI. My companion lives in Baltimore so can he just fly from Baltimore to LAX with me as companion? On the return, can he just walk out at BWI? and continue to Boston? Thank you, Hai

How do I check more than four? I know for sure I have funds available under one confirm number. Thanks for your help Be careful how to use travel funds !!! I had a bad experience with multiple travel funds: 1. Travel funds is expired a year from the date you book flight not travel date. 2. If you mix the travel funds for a new reservation and cancel, the earliest expiration date will be applied for all the travel funds. It happend to me this year when I used $5.60 refund (taxes & fees) expired on May 23, 2017 (not sure exactly date) with $200 voucher expired on January 2018 and due to weather, I cancel the flight the total $205.60 expired on May 23, 2017. As you see, I tried to use only $5.60 travel fund first since it would expire soon causing my $200 having earlier expiration date too (May 23, 2017 instead of January 2018) !!!

If you have no activites in 2 years yourSW points would expire, most airlines has 18 months. Activities do not mean you have to earn points, you can spend points. One of the easy way is buy magazine or donate (not sure with SW) since does not cost many points. You also can give away the free trip to your friends or your relatives.

If I get the card now and earn the 60k in miles it goes toward the 110k but I would have to earn the balance in miles/reward spending by 12/31/17 for the Companion Pass. Correct? If so, isn't it better for me to apply for the card in January 2018? thanks Yes, but you also can apply the SW personal card too. By applying begin of the year you would have almost 2 years with companion pass. By the way, you can apply by mid-December since the time the credit post it would be in January.

However, I did receive an email today from Southwest acknowledging the problem and offering a credit to RR account for 1500 miles. I will note that I think this problem has been off and on for at least a few months, because I have noticed that sometimes I get a notice that I've been automatically checked in and here's your boarding # and sometimes I get nothing, or even a notice that's it's 24 hours in advance and time to check in! I mentioned it at least two months ago to an agent, who didn't have anything to say. So I'm glad the sent the email, surprised actually, but I'm not sure they realize the full extent of the problem yet. 1500 miles credit !!! Just like give you $24 (1500 x $0.016) SW is so cheap!!!

Recently I had several experience with flight delays due to the plane was not there at the time for boarding or just arrived at the gate. My last time the plane arrived few minutes before boarding but they were able to get people on the plane on time. I told my wife it is great so we may get home a little bit earlier since they always put about 30 minutes margin in schedule. Unfortunately, I spoke too soon !!! A pilot (not sure from which airlines) who fly standby for free was late and end up we have to wait for him about 25 minutes and he seemed not care by taking easy to put his carry on to the bin. When we were on the air, the piplot announced that it is unusal instead got tail wind (LAS to PHL), we got crosswind therefore the flight took longer end up we were late by 40 minutes!!! Anyone has similar experience the plane was not there at the time for boarding? So far I can say in my case it is about 80%.

@franktravel wrote: On the no change of plane you stay on and don't get off. When you check in 24 hrs before your first flight and it has a connection and it's on the same reservation number it checks you in for both. You will then print out two different boarding passes for your flights. Good luck!! For one stop no plane change you only get one boarding pass. Depend on how long you have to wait at the stop. First you have to wait for all passengers get out the plane and then the flight attendant will count number people stay at the plane for the next flight to make sure it matched with their record. If the next flight is long enough, you can ask them for get out the airplane after she counts number of people stay. You also can move up your seat and remember to move your carry on to and they may not let you sit in the first row if there are enough disable passenger and their companions. They will mark you when you get out the plane and you should come back to the plane before boarding and you just walk straight to the gate and tell her/him your name and you may have to show ID. I love to fly non-stop, stop no plane changed since you check in luggage does not have to transfer to another plane.

Thanks for letting us know that an improvement you'd like to see is the option to cancel them both together. Hi Lindsey, Thanks for your response. I agree there are 2 separated reservations, however the "companion pass" person can't not fly without the other the same token, he or she have to fly the same flight. This is IT or management issues which did not think ahead in the modern age of computer technology. It is very simple since when I cancel or change mine the computer already knows I have companion so just insert a question "if you cancel/change the companion will be done the same". Hai

If a passenger with a disability needs extra time to board, they are allowed to board with Family Boarding, between the “A” and “B” groups. I thought they are allowed to board before A group?

@chgoflyer wrote: Unfortunately, buying Southwest points is a really bad idea, unless you just need a few to "top off" and purchase a fare. The cost is 2.75 cents each, which is outrageous. That means the price you paid was correct, not a glitch. 😞 Points.com manages the sale/transfer of RR points as a profit center for Southwest, so Southwest will always defer to them when issues arise. That fare seems very high though. That may have been where a glitch was involved. Was that for Wanna Get Away tickets? Sorry for your expensive lesson. 😞 Yes indeed it is a very bad ideas. Actually what you should do to use points to buy one way tickets then the other ticket buy with credit cards. It seems your ticket was very high since 1 points = 1.6c so each way cost you more than $800 bucks. If you use points to buy one way ticket, the other one way would cost you around $800 but you would earn some points for that flight.

Once expired, you can contact Customer Relations and ask that they be reissued as vouchers, minus a $100 fee each. These requests are granted on a case-by-case basis. In addition, please be careful to use the travel funds together or with gift cards/cash since if you cancel again the expiration date will be the earliest date. I had a bad experience in the past. I used a $5.60 travel fund which expired in May 2017 and ~ $160 voucher which expired in 12/2017 then I had to cancel it due to conflict schedule. Then, my new travel fund ~$160 + 5.60 was expired in May and end up I could not use all of them.

After completion of the trip, 4 of those exited the aircraft without delay or assistance. The seniors are learning how to play the system. Depart or arrive to Florida, Las Vegas or Phoenix are the worst one, it would take at least 10 more minutes due to this issue. One time at Phoenix airport, I saw a young woman dressed in kind of Muslim dress and a little chubby sat on the wheelchair but as soon she got in the plane she walked very fast and the same way when she got off plane. I had admitted I was very worry since why a young one like her sat on the wheelchair and was able to walk inside plane like normal person, I was worry may be she used wheelchair to hide some thing and to the point I almost attemped to discuss with flight attendant. It depends on a lot of thing. Since you have small kid you would be able to boarding in B group after A group which maximum 60 people in front of you. You may be get lucky getting A group and the chance sitting together very high if you check in exactly 24 hours before the flight. Based on my experience if your flight is very early in the morning, you have the chance getting A group. If your flight is late on the day, the chance is very slim since someone has the early flight and connected with your flight they would check in for both flight at earlier than yours. I found most of the time you would be able to sit together since you depart before B group unless a lot of older people in the flight or the plane has a lot people connect through your departure so they already get good seats. In general, people who fly SW are very nice so your chance is very high.
