This has come up before. My suggestion is to list those as assets in the estate and if they fail to honor the point transfer as any other personal property would occur, file a lawsuit.

We are hoping to fly to Florida late June (June 25 or 26 to be exact). When will the best time to book be? Will prices go lower between now and then?
You can use Google Travel to track the trends for other airlines, Southwest won't be included but you can see their projections.
If you fly very often then the best solution is to book now and then re-book later to claim any drop in price as a travel credit. There is little downside to this unless you won't make any other flights and then can't use the travel credit.
Otherwise you have to judge is the price reasonable now and you'd be happy? Or is it worth a risk what if it goes up $10 vs down $10...if you are seeing costs under $100 or especially anything $75 then no you probably aren't going to see much drop except for the specific sales. The risk is only that it will go up.
If the costs are $200 now is there a chance it drops a bit to $150 - its possible, but now way to know for sure.

I’m getting the same error code but splitting the compound first name into only part one and removing the second half didn’t solve the answer. As an example, I’ve tried: John Paul as just John or Johnpaul and even Johnp but none of which works. It’s super frustrating since the name needs to match your driver’s license or passport but SW can’t handle a compound name.

Sorry to hear of your father in laws death.
If the credits came from Wanna Get Away + tickets, you can transfer them to another Rapid Rewards member for that person;s use.
If the credits came from Wanna Get Away tickets, they are non transferable -- but
you can use them to buy a WGA+ tiket and then cancel that ticket - thus creating a transferable flight credit that another person can use..

Two questions... one, if I add a Business card, do those points go to my regular SWA account? Two... I get that each spouse must be separate accounts and points, but can we switch the RR number on our cards so that it goes to her points?
At first I read this as each of your spouses must have their own account. 🤣
If you have a joint card then it will still go to the account of the original account opening applicant.
The only way around this might be if your spouse can open the account and direct the points to her, and then add you as joint to the account after the setup.

Posting this solution here as well - or really a work around.
"When you log in to Rapid Rewards and pull up the "My Account" dashboard, you should see your upcoming trips. Above the "Cancel Flight | Change Flight" links should be a light grey "Details" button. Click that to pull up your reservation details. To the right of the Confirmation #, you should see the "Resend receipt" link on the far right. "
After you get the email in outlook, save the email to your desktop. Open the email in your web browser and VOILA, the email, with the receipt information is now there. I don't know why outlook blocks the receipt information, but it does. Found this by accident.
Oh, and opening the email in your browser (the link at the top of the email that outlook sometimes gives you) does not work. You have to save it first, then open it.
This was Outlook desktop and Chrome.

I've noticed that Airbus seats seem to be wider, for what it's worth. But to me they are very hard and uncomfortable. And the seat pitch in some seats is SO tight, they don't even put a full tray on the seat back. You literally can't put a laptop on it.
At 6'2", I find SWA seats to be plenty confirms comfy.

You raise a good point. If the $1,000 was intended as compensation for the HOLIDAY DISASTER then you could argue that those credits shouldn't expire.
I would be a proponent of extending the time on the $1,000 credits, or surrender them for cash at 50% of face value.

As a customer for over 50 years, I have seen changes in the RR program. You used to fly four RT or 8 flight segment to earn a free flight to anywhere. There was no A-list BS and the Early Bird add on fee didn't exist.
And what does any of that have to do with your confusion about qualifying points? Oh, and I'm not a 50+ year SW customer -- just a 46 year customer...
edit add: the A-List program came into existence 17 years ago. Have you been confused about how to achieve A-list for the entire 17 years?

Just purchased my first wanna get away fare. One of the features I'm hoping to use is the same day change and standby option to get on a near earlier flight that day. I had some questions.
For the same day flight change and standby option, does it include travel to co-terminal airport? For example, if my original destination is San Jose but there is an earlier flight going to Oakland, can I change to Oakland with no upcharge?
Same day flight change lets me change flight on day of travel. If I've already checked into my original flight (done day before), can I still change the flight to an earlier one on day of travel?
They open up the coterminal cities when there is a big delay such as weather system coming through, but I don't think you can change airports under normal operations.
Once you are at the airport they have more power though, I think they can shuffle your destinations there depending on all the factors.
I don't think there is any good option about the origin airport other than people who show up at the wrong one accidentally anecdotally they will try to take care of you. (ORD vs MDW, DCA vs IAD where the airport is literally in the same city - not SJC vs OAK in that case. Houston and Dallas are newer entries to this category and I don't know if they get mixed up or not very often.)

1) For me the most important A-Lst benevit is the ability to get a good seat when I do a same day change or standby -- I board at what would be A61
2) Same day change regardless of fare type
3) 25% RR points bonus
4) Dediated A-List phone number - rasier to get thru when things head south
5) Dedicated FLY BY TSA access line ((I'm Pre, so it doesn;t help me, but it might be of value to someone else.
1. "A61" Benefit - LUV It! Before A-List, I've lost count of how many times I checked in at T-24 only to have a back-in-the-B position and having to buy Upgraded Boarding to be in the A-Group so I can have a good window seat. Being able to board in between A & B ensures that there should be a good window seat available, even if it's toward the back of the plane.
2. Same Day Flight Change - LUV It! Before A-List, I would book WGA+ to lock in this benefit as I've needed to use it a few times. Saves me additional cash.
3. 25% RR Bonus - LUV It! Great addon, especially if I need to book a flight that doesn't qualify for sale pricing. If I have to pay a high fare, the added points help offset the cost.
4. Dedicated Phone Line - LUV It! I've never liked waiting in lines; hence I have Global Entry to use for TSA and at the land border. The same can be said while waiting for customer service on the phone.
5. Priority Express Lanes Access - LUV It! Haven't needed to use it just yet at both the check-in counter and at the TSA Checkpoint. But I've seen that check-in line back up and there may be a time that I may need to use it should I need help while landside. I would certainly love to see the Priority Express lane at the TSA Checkpoint feed either into the PreCheck or Standard Line as CLEAR currently does...I really can't complain though; based on my experience, if the PreCheck lane is backed up as was the case for me last July for a day trip to SMF, TSA manages to keep the line moving and I'm through quickly.

I had always understood that to be a benefit of EBCI will try to confirm.
There are some misconceptions about EBCI out there but “check in” is in the name of it so I would expect to be checked in. (But not be assured of an A position, etc.)
When did you add EBCI and what was your position that you were assigned when you did retrieve it? You’ll need your boarding pass to show that EBCI was applied to it.
@DancingDavidE
Also, under the Contract of Carriage (Section 9.6):
(6) Denied Boarding Priority Rules. The Carrier’s boarding priority is established on a first- come, first-served basis in the order boarding positions are secured. In determining which Passengers holding Confirmed Reserved Space shall be denied boarding involuntarily, the Carrier shall deny boarding in reverse order from the order in which the Passengers’ boarding positions were secured (i.e., the last Passenger who receives a boarding position will be the first Passenger denied boarding involuntarily in an oversale situation), with no preference given to any particular person or category of Fares.
This is what I was looking for - but still vague about what is "securing" your boarding position - it doesn't say "securing your boarding pass" which is a separate activity but which the OP may have been bumped because of it. (Unless this was one of those flights where 100% of the people got EBCI.
But anyway - what if a Business Select or A-list passenger gets their boarding pass at the airport - that's obviously not desirable to have either of those types bumped so it has to be the order of assigning boarding positions.
Therefore I suspect an EBCI error with the OP's flight, the EBCI should be protecting a passenger from being bumped. Either there was an error on acquiring EBCI, or the flight was changed less than 36 hours prior to departure, or another error (or glitch) is possible.

Thanks. Mom has her own SW acct and she flies it more than us. We will just give her all the info because after the $100 is deducted, she will probably pay with points. She has SW CC and uses it for everything. This post was a little older so I didn't know if that changed.
Also, why does SW require us to make a separate account to use the "community". I already had a SW login, but it would not work here, so I had to create a separate one.
Let us know how it goes, the points+cash option is new this year but should work to accept a voucher wherever you could also pay with cash.
IMO it’s a good practice for separate accounts since your “main” Southwest account has access to your credit cards, flight confirmation numbers, etc. Better to have this one unlinked.
