The issue is not preboarding, the issue is the OPEN SEATING policy.

The proviso here is that f you have a connecting flight ..and..
if it is a tight connection ..or..
Your first flight is suffi iently late ..
that you get to the gate of the connecting flight after boarding starts, that you might not board as a1-a15, but instead as whatever position is boarding when you get to the gate.

Thank you. I figured it might not work, but worth a try. I bought both our tickets back in October with no plan to use CP. When the offer was announced last week we thought we might get lucky if there was a way to get the pass before our flights (Feb 24).
If there's a week or so maybe! At least you are covered now with the tickets in-hand so you won't be scrambling the day of if it doesn't come through in time.

Even if you buy multiple tickets then you’ll forfeit the extras as “no show” when you get there and then scan the boarding pass for yourself that’s all you get - the additional seats will be marked no show and forfeit.
Potentially there will end up being empty seats on the plane, but you won’t be guaranteed to have them next to you.
*the last place I would sit on a plane is next to someone with three pets but I’m allergic, it may not bother some people or they might even enjoy it.

WHERE CAN I VIEW IF I HAVE CHECKED BAGS OR CARRY ON IN UPCOMING EXISTING FLIGHT
Nowhere - you just show up on your day of flight with what you want to bring - included will be two free checked bags and you are also allowed one carry on luggage item and one personal item.
Here is the page that might help with any questions about size of luggage, weight, etc.

They essentially have this - WN's status match (and business employee offer if you qualify) are the absolute easiest in the business, as low as 2 RTs and eligible every 12 months. I have had A-List for years due to this despite never making 20 flights.

I know this question was posted a while back but I needed help with this issue. Finally, I figured it out. You need to cancel the reservation, and it will allow you to select passengers to change flights. Once you make your selection, Southwest provides a different confirmation number, and you can rebook all the groups. I hope this helps.
So you started out saying "cancel" and it offered you to select passengers, and then before canceling you were able to change those two instead?
I'm not quite following for sure and wanted to clarify what you did.

I am not absolutely certain, but I suspect that the reservation system does not have the capability of using two companion passes on one reservation.
Each companion pass will have a separate confirmation number, so the OP and wife will be on one confirmation, and each companion will have separate confirmations.
But I do think the position assignments should flow through okay, we know it works for one companion and I'm wracking my brain if we did or didn't do this on one trip last year when my wife had a promo companion pass too.

I assume this self-serve feature will remain in place until I check into the flight per the message header (as A-List which comes with Priority Boarding, I'm assuming that will be the 36-hour mark for me). I will confirm all this as I get closer to my departure date and will let you know when the feature times out to make the change online; after that point, a Southwest CSA should still be able to accommodate you.
@bec102896 is correct.
As I have a flight tomorrow that has this feature, I was able to confirm that at both the T36 mark (Automatic A-List Priority Boarding Check-In) and at T24 (Agree to the terms and get boarding Pass), this feature does not expire or "go away" at either of these points; thus this is available from the time the change takes place until 10-minutes prior to departure.

One other thing to keep in mind is if you are ALP or AL with other passengers on your reservation they will be automatically checked in sequential order after the AL/ALP member so if your AL with 5 people 6 of the A spots are taken just from one person

That being said I just felt it would make sense to purchase the base price ticket if I were being offered family boarding simply to try and save a little money. I do not expect to get anything more than what I pay for...
That's exactly the rules and thousands of people do this every day. It isn't entitlement.
@MizzT74 wrote:
And even though they have family boarding the real assurance would just be to purchase business class tickets. But thank you all for your feedback.
Business Select will be way overkill for that. Although you would be one of the first 15 positions the cost increase may be 3x the cost of WGA fares.
Consider upgraded boarding, if it is available, on the day of the flight but that's it. The system is designed that regular customers can buy WGA fares and have a very reasonable, if not quite certain chance of sitting with their children.
The only time it doesn't work is if the child is seven or older or if the passengers are late and miss the window for family boarding.

I assume that you have a new Chase RR card. I saw that becasue
RR points automatically move to your SW RR account after each Chase CC statement. About the only way you could have 88k points on your card is for it to be a new card and your statement hasn;t yet been issued.
If what I descirbed is accurate, you should get your RR points after your next Chase CC statement.

Under the Air Carrier Access Act, you can self-declare as an individual with a disability and preboard. There is no proof, no medical exam, no committee, no documentation.
You can do back flips, acrobatics and gymnastics all the way to the gate, then self-declare, then preboard.

Also if you want to earn another SW Credit Card signup bonus you will be eligible 24 months after you earned your last signup bonus. You just need to cancel your current card (ideally before the 2nd year's annual fee hits). Then wait a minimum of 30 days before re-applying for the new Southwest card.
Seems like rules may have changed recently. I last received a SW credit card bonus back in October of 2021 so I expected to be eligible when I applied again in December 2023. I was declined so I called and was informed that cardholder must wait 24 months after receiving any bonus miles from the previous credit card and that I had received a dining bonus in September of 2022 so I will not be eligible again until September 2024. Bummer.
