Are we really complaining about alcohol so soon after a 2-year-pandemic-loss of alcoholic beverage service?

I'm still clueless as to why people buy business select seats. For the money, you could likely get a first class seat on another airline. I like Southwest, and I realize that "all seats on Southwest are first class", but still...

Well, to be fair, no airline is exactly the same as it was, but Southwest still remains at the top of the list in my book.
Your posts about your flight and being charged to change it doesn't make sense. If Southwest makes a schedule change (i.e. your 8AM flight now departs at 8:30AM), Southwest sends you an e-mail that your flight has changed and if you are not happy with the change you can change it at no cost, typically within 72 hours of receiving the e-mail, although it may be a little longer now. If you waited longer than that to change your flight, you are out of luck and have to pay the difference if the fare increased. And by the way, we are having a gas crisis at the moment ... fares are going to be higher to compensate. It is that way across the board - this is not a "Southwest" problem.

Yep, weather will do this.
I had a flight in 2019 from PHL to FLL with a layover (I think in Orlando, I forget now) and rain was delaying the incoming flight and I was going to miss the connection. This was one of the few times I had checked a bag. They ended up putting me on a different connection - going from PHL > Chicago 🤣 but when I had asked about my bag, they said they automatically retagged it, and they did. It made it to FLL without any problems. If there are less connecting flights to work with, there isn't much that they can do.

I have been trying to reach SW for days now. I have been on hold for 2 hours repeatedly. Each time the call is dropped instead of being answered. Last night I was on hold for 7 hours, 59 minutes, 23 seconds!!! Then the call was dropped. I urgently need to rebook because SW cancelled my flight and rebooked me for a flight that will arrive AFTER the event, and in the dead of night. The email they sent me said I can rebook without charge online or with the app. However, that is not true. Both online and the app charge me the difference in cost between the ticket I purchased months ago and current prices, which are of course $650+ more. I tried chat with the app, but that is just a bot that answers FAQs - no real person who can fix real problems. I am back on hold, trying again to get a person on the customer service line (the definition of insanity...) Any ideas?

I have a sneaky suspicion you have been dealing with Southwest Vacations -- true?
If so, you have to resolve thru that firm - which is NOT Southwest Airlines. Southwest Vacations is also know in other places as Apple Vacations - a totally separate firm.

Your right. I realize the rules are clearly stated. I did cancel the ticket due to the excessive price of this ticket (at least a 450% increase). This is well beyond the increase in oil. The President warned that companies not gouge the public during this inflationary time. I guess Southwest is ignoring this as it isn’t a “mandate”.
lol, prices change due to LOTS of factors, the price of fuel being just one of them. Demand for travel is WAY up and when demand goes up prices go up too.

Sorry that you felt 'cheated'!
The travel industry is becoming more and more confusing these days. While there may not have been a need to read the fine print before, it's especially important today. If it helps, I think Southwest is the best when it comes to not having their customers feel 'cheated' - out of many carriers from the US, Southwest is the most straightforward through their Transfarency policy and while the name 'Business Select' could be confusing, I'm sure when you were prompted to upgrade, the kiosk listed what you would be getting in return (ie upgraded boarding, drink coupon, 12 points/dollar, etc), not stating anything about seating.
Southwest's customer service is kind of swamped right now so I do not know if you would get a response, but I would recommend emailing them or tweeting them about your experience. While they may not be able to offer compensation, it's always good to reach out (like what you are doing on this forum) and let the company/other travelers know so that they can be informed.

Companion Pass Requirements for 2023:
https://www.southwest.com/html/rapidrewards/eoy-tier-communication.html
Companion Pass is the benefit that allows you to choose one person to fly with you, free of airline charges (does not include taxes and fees from $5.60 one-way) every time you purchase or redeem points for a flight. To qualify, simply fly 100 qualifying one-way flights or earn 125,000 qualifying points* in a calendar year, and you’ll earn Companion Pass for the following full calendar year, plus the remainder of the year in which you earned it.

Nope. You have never had to take a COVID test to fly domestically (in the continental US).
The exception is Hawaii and a few other international places Southwest flies to/from - requirements are listed here: https://www.southwest.com/Coronavirus/?clk=CORONAVIRUS_TA&cbid=6448076

I'm sorry this happened to you. It's likely that very few here, if any, know what it's like to lose everything on your way to a very special event. Well, I hear you! I was in the same boat Jan 10th in Denver when my luggage was lost and never recovered. I was on my way to my son's wedding! It's sickening when you're standing there in the middle of the airport with only the clothes on your person. I'm in the claim process too now. And your story has me really worried! I, too, didn't have receipts for clothing I bought a year ago or even months ago.
I was less than impressed with SWA's assistance for sure. I'm also finding it interesting that we both had this happen in Denver. Thanks for sharing. I'll be praying that you get some positive resolution.

Right. That's why I said it doesn't help with full flights.
But if it's an empty flight, they will give you the seat... then you can add the companion.

I understand both points of view on Wi-Fi, but since Free Wi-Fi is one of the very few perks of A-List Preferred status it would be nice if it worked better. For me personally, I work in a just in time, on call world, and the option to plug in and interact is a financial benefit to my company and ultimately me.
I will say that when the wi-fi is working (and my phone is in airplane mode), it now rings during flights unless I disable the wi-fi calling feature. Just a bit embarrassing 🙄

I used to pay for Early Bird off and on but over the years I've decided to just save the money and take my chances with checking in 24 hours ahead. I've found that even if I am in a later boarding position (B or even C group) I can still get a window or aisle seat in almost every case.
Now that I'm A List this year though, I don't have to worry about it!

What a strange post.
Southwest extended travel funds from customer cancelled flights from March 2020 - September 2020 to September 2022. That's more than two years. Plenty of us have flown numerous times throughout 2020-2021.
IMO, extending benefits even further (i.e. to 2023) is prolonging unnecessary and unfounded fears that we don't need to placate anymore.
It's been over 2 years of this. The pandemic is over. Get your shots and boosters and stay home if you're sick. Or don't. Life needs to go back to how it was before we all became scaredy hypochondriacs and I don't mind dying on this hill.

If the vaccinated can still get it, that means the vaccines isn't effective. «
Please, NO! These vaccines and boosters are protective (effective) because they lessen the severity of illness should one be infected by COVID. Many who are vaccinated and COVID positive report milder, non-life threatening symptoms. As well, the vaccinated are less likely to be hospitalized.
