Honestly, that long of a flight I prefer a stop to just stretch my legs. Guess that's why I have never flown across any oceans yet, just to Hawaii and Mexico.

@Sextoncrawford I agree with @elijahbrantley @dfwskier @bec102896 However, twice I've found that by the time I've gotten off my plane, do my mandatory restroom stop, and made it to the next gate, even in the same terminal, that they had already started boarding. One wasn't too bad as I got to go in with the first of the B numbers, but the other one I was in the C section and ended up in a middle seat. (no offence to middleseat on here.) So I just suggest you expedite finding the gate with minimal or no stops.

@mcvicgd Just as easy as it is to log into the forum and ask the question, you can google it as well. But I understand getting an SWA travelers perspective too. With that said, NO, at this time SWA, nor any other airlines has any requirement that you have to have proof of a vaccine shot(s). But as mentioned, anything is subject to change tomorrow, let alone in several months. SWA has a link that lets you know immediately all their COVID related information. https://www.southwest.com/coronavirus/ I check this every time I log into SWA for anything. Also, having been vaccinated to date doesn't prevent you from contracting the virus and thus, possibly being able to spread it. But that research is being looked at daily as well. I think many, myself included, will continue these safe actions, wear a mask, wash hands, social distance, well into next year just to be safe. I've had the first shot and will get the second shot Feb 10, but it won't change my current behavior because I will have been vaccinated.

@Claudiac To add to that, I wish Southwest would make the buzzer sound (when people use the wrong boarding pass) when people check in ahead of their boarding position. the only flaw to this is what if somebody that was supposed to be in front of me when I scan my ticket is in the bathroom or finishing up their beer, I scan and get the BUZZER of shame and was boarding legitimately. Before I was an A-Lister, I use to give up a couple of spots so that I would board with my wife at the same time, that would mean by doing that the person I would cause the person I let in front of me get the BUZZER of shame.

For all the complaints that I read on here, (and yes, I've posted a complaint too) I'm going to say this, on no other, LET ME REPEAT, on no other airlines do you have the opportunity to earn a companion pass. I love this opportunity to get this award and has saved me 10's of thousands of dollars. Since I first made it to gain a companion pass about 8 years ago, I estimate that I've flow at least 100 flights the somebody flew free with me. I just want to thank SWA for this program and hope that it is an award that continues well into the future. And the bonus to this is, I'd say if you have enough points to earn a companion pass, then you've also got an A-List to boot. SWA THANK YOU.

@TheMiddleSeat This is in theory, and correct 98% of the time. I have no idea how many times I've flown, (hundreds) of flights, so 2% or less is correct. I've flown a couple of times with a connecting flight where my bags didn't make it there. They eventually got delivered to me and have never been lost. The frustration was softened both times by getting a nice travel voucher out of it. Just had to wear my travel clothes for an extra half a morning.

@Customer7 Here's the deal, Masks save lives. Here is a recent, Jan 17, an article from AZ https://www.fox10phoenix.com/news/hundreds-of-children-being-admitted-to-arizona-hospitals-for-covid... Do you really want to risk your child's health???? A new strain that appears to be more contagious, (not more deadly than we know of yet) but in the last report from the UK, it shows the potential to be. I'm not a scientist, but I'm thinking that if the COVID can mutate, it will eventually figure out how to get around a child's immune system that has been protecting them up to this point, and it looks like it has.

@gsking we must be flying very different routes, I've been on 4 flights since the middle seat policy was lifted, each one was full, and seen stand by names prior to boarding on each flight as well. I'm sure that isn't the case for many flights, but I'm just saying, full flights for me has been the norm.

Sadly, you confessed you have been notified as being exposed, so you have to live with the decision to choose. What you should do is not FLY. As stated, you are now asked a question about being exposed in which you have to answer. I'm sorry this puts you in a serious situation, but here you are. I've been in your shoes, although not for flying, but for staying home for 14 days answering the texts on my phone. Know that there is no "Law" that says you can't fly, but the law of humanity is pleading that you don't.

@TFLY Agree, to only some extent. I've not figured out how SWA GA is dropping the ball on this one on every single flight. We are told to line up by the silly silver posts, yet nobody does and the GA does nothing to correct it. ME AS G.A. "If you're lining up by the ticket scanner and not in the designated area, I won't scan your ticket." Please line up in the designated area/line." That could actually work with distancing, but then again, it is nullified once you get past the GA and are in a line trying to get on the plane. I'm A list so I am always one of the first on, and I can't figure out how the 6-8 people in front of me cause a backup from the get go....wth, all the seats are open just sit down already.

I think Blake gave you great advice. Book now later in the year, and maybe that will actually happen for you. If not, you can bank that flight for a year from the date of purchase. Although no fortune teller, I think a year from today things will be much different. In fact, I didn't know about any 29 dollar trips, I'm going in tonight and book no less than 8 flights later in the year just in case.

@Rnnorton12 I feel you! But I don't think there is much we can do about it. I've been an educator for over 30 years and watched the values, attitude, and just plain citizenship of the students change basically each decade. I can honestly say this, there is no way I could teach today's kids the same way I did 35 years ago, and I say that each decade. I've not only had to accept that, but I've also had to adjust to that. Does that make it right, no, it just means I'm not going to let that control me. I'm not agreeing with your assessment, but know that I've seen some changes over the years myself, but nothing to vent about. I don't think that being reminded to keep my seatbelt and mask on is being yelled at. For the mask part, I wish they would say it more, and go down the aisle much more than they do to keep me/us safe. And being of age, I'm frustrated with my compromised bladder, and the "don't get up with a seatbelt on is a pain in my butt, but I haven't ever complained about that. But I'm thinking that there could be a bigger window once we get about 30,000 feet. With all this rambling on I guess I just want to say, our age is in a Jurassic era that I don't see ever coming back. So just get some headphones and read a nice book throughout the flight and live!!! My best to you my friend.
