"In order to provide a top-notch WiFi experience, we prohibit access to certain high-bandwidth applications and websites, including NetFlix, HBO GO, and telephony applications (VoIP.)"
I'm going to say that in today's world, there are going to be those of us left behind with the technology curve. It doesn't matter if it's by purpose or lack of IQ, you should always consider providing all forms of wording and language so we knuckleheads of the world really understand what you're saying.
Let me say, your reply does merit it being a solution. But one of the focus topics was ZOOM, a simple and common word even this dummy knows. But you put down telephony applications (VoIP) I had no idea what that means until another post spelled it out...."you're on ZOOM, which is still a VoIP."
I'm not knocking you, I'm just letting you know some of us still need it explained like we are two year olds. Sorry, and great answer. Hopefully better bandwidth or whatever to allow for these types of access or commonplace. NO, not at the expense of the rest of the users on flight.

It seems like it has been covered here by everyone. No, no more early bird purchases, you get most of the time on in a good boarding position, but I've been as far back as A-51. And a YES, to my companion gets the very next boarding number when I'm checked in. The big deal for me is that I don't have to check-in, SWA does it. But I most of the time do so anyway 24 hours before just in case.

I'm only assuming you may be a new SWA employee? I"m just not sure. Nor am I sure of why you're posting this on a discussion forum, this is a employee relations discussion board or human resources. Try contact HR or whomever you made initial contact with about your question.

I'm with you on this, but at the same time I know it will also take time for those destinations to start getting competitive for them to add non-stop. I fly out of Albuquerque, NM, and 80 percent of the flights for me to somewhere I fly to a SW destination only to fly back over Albuquerque on my second flight to where I'm going. I'm hoping that will mandates going away that more folks will fly. But it's also about SWA, and other airlines, building back up their number of pilots and flight attendants. I can honestly live with this inconvenience for now as long as SWA has held their ground that all their pilots and FA be vaccinated.

@ Anyone. So your reference that getting the WIFI from the AList Preferred seems to be an issue and maybe not worth working the get the perk. So is it different if you actually pay the 8 bucks for in-flight internet?
I know I used it years ago when I was addicted to having to be online, but it's been at least 4 years since then, and haven't accessed it. I ask so that I don't waste 8 bucks to access it now that I work remotely and just may have to be online.

I agree with @jksobonya. I intentionally watch the news all day long to stay informed about the virus. The only news of late in regard to the airline industry is the shortage of employees to facilitate flights, so they are being canceled. When I google transmissions from flying there hasn't been any news whatsoever that the new strain(s), or the original one, is spreading because of flights. Will I agree there is still some degree of a chance you might catch it on a flight, YES, do I agree that it's all over the news that flying is causing the spread of the virus, NO, that is totally false. What you decide to do with your points, and with SWA is your choice, and I wish you a more informed Christmas Holidays and Happy New Year.

I understand that people are new to SWA point system every year, but we do see this question every single year and it's too hard to go back to a year ago and cut and paste. There are all good answers on here, BUT, all are also subject to when the route you chose wants to post points. I've stayed at hotels and didn't get my SW points from them for months, while others were within a week. So that is hit or miss. Same with dining, usually weeks, and shopping can take up to weeks as well. At this point, depending on your billing cycle of the credit card, that may have passed and any points you get won't be posted until Jan. I tried to reach the AList preferred. At the start of Dec I needed less than 10,000 points and spent and spent on the credit card, but it wasn't enough and I fell short, even though I got 14K points from the credit card this month, not enough AList preferred points. So I look at it as a lesson learned, maybe other than spending for premium hotels for the next week, in which you would be staying every night, you might just chalk it up to a learning experience.

When I read the title my jaw dropped! But now that I read it I understand what you're asking about. You're asking will a learner's permit act as a form of ID to fly, not "Can you fly?" You have been given the information you need. I'm just wondering why over the age of 16 you have never gotten a photo ID card as this world we live in nowadays pretty much requires it in some form. I know I'm answering this late, but I hope you got on your flight somehow. I've never gone to the link to see what ID's work, but I'm also thinking you would have a school ID?

I understand your situation of limited time, and many of the points have been covered. But with the limited non-stop anymore, I've found myself doing SWA on one way of the trip and another airline for the other way. It seems to be working for me, and of course, I'm a part of the other airline's reward program as well.

If I'm not mistaken, it's not that SWA won't let you fly, you just have to quarantine if you get to Hawaii without the proper paperwork. As things change quickly, keep checking the Hawaii tourism website which will link you up to what you need to know and do.

@WheresFrida While you were on hold did you google what makes SWA one of the top airlines? I just did and don't even want to try and count the enormous number of threads. My point isn't just to support SWA, but to explain if you googled why do, (any airlines) suck, you will get the same issue you have with SWA, and if you google why are they so good, you get many reasons why. I can't answer the reasoning for long holds on calls, only that I've been on that waitlist as well. I don't have that answer, and since I don't fly any other airlines, can't say what hold time on them is. But I do know across the board, complaints on all airlines have gone up for over a year now. I hope your next post in the group is about a much happier experience.

I've used preboard after I had surgery on a broken wrist and my jaw wired shut. I didn't ask for it, but the nice lady who I checked my bags in with suggested I present it to the lady at the counter where you board. I'm still conflicted by the fact I did ask, and received a preboard, but that's now water under the bridge. But here is the point, maybe some of them are getting preboard by the suggestion of somebody else as I did. I agree all disabilities are physical, and I've come around to bite my lip and try not to even see who is preboarding. I'm A-List, I get a seat in the first 10 rows 95% of the time, it's all good. Honestly, I just think the spike in disgruntled passengers on this forum is due to the pandemic, in terms of just being isolated, cooped up, and loss of the normal everyday things we were used to doing. As things progress back to normal, less need for, "I want my alcohol, Why aren't people wearing masks, why aren't FA enforcing, as so on. We can just go back to the petty stuff about how a flight was delayed, a notice of change of flight time, only a few mean FA who got snotty,.......it's coming folks, just be patient.

I didn't read Blake's post closely, and just now today saw the "over 18," and was doing my grandkids every day as well, all under 18. I'm just wondering if anyone else has done anyone under 18 and if won points.

@vlvtmbrwn NOBODY should be given any unwarranted disrespect in general. IF, and I say again, IF, this incident happens, as we know every industry in the world may have an employee having a bad day that takes it out on you, then I hope it gets addressed. I get bad service at a restaurant, I don't tip, nor go back to that place. Bad service at other places, I don't go back. I suggest this lady move on to another airlines. But my point is this, I read any complaint and take it at face value, just as compliments. If you can't back it with proof, (the video was requested in good faith, anyone can write at any given day something good or bad and we take it at face value, some decided to respond to those, myself included. Just because we don't answer in a sympathetic manner doesn't mean we don't care, we don't work for SWA, we just utilize their service, or not. Do I agree SWA isn't perfect, YES!

@SUJANACHAMARTY This is not the SWA Team. This forum is customers just like you. Please know that some employees are on here, but even they can only give you the same advice as we can. If you take the time in the future to do a bit more research you would know this, and you would be closer to a possible resolution other than waiting to find out we have no power in this forum to do that anyway. Hope things work out for you.

@emilyloch I will reiterate what the middle seat has told you is true. If you got a wanna get away, you have done well to get a seat at the most economical price. Enjoy your flight knowing that the other 65% of those on board spent more for their seat than you did.

@kdoesche To answer your question, NO, this is not the new standard for SWA, or for any of the other airlines that seem to be irritating their customers. I don't like the term, "back to normal," as every year we evolve to something that changes our lives moving forward. But when the chances of spreading COVID become an afterthought, you should see more consistency with all airlines. We lived through no toilet paper and cleaning products, people buying up food and hoarding it, limited people in stores, and waiting in line for up to an hour, no movie theaters, eating outside in the cold, and on and on, we can get through this as well.

@CupCrusher40 Please do as Blake suggested as you, nor I, have no pull in this customer-to-customer forum. On that note, I doubt that if either of us singularly are frustrated the bins are hard to open and we get dizzy from blue lights, that isn't going to make them budge. You can in the meantime look to be a part of the solution to your problem. Check your bags and don't carry them on and you don't need the bin, and wear sun glasses, I do anyway just so I can catch some ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ'.s

This is such an old post and was generated when times were so uncertain and the complaint would actually be coming from me. Although I'm on record in this forum that I want mask enforcement to continue, however, no longer at the expense of somebody getting into a heated argument or assulted. Much like road rage, I'm still prone to give a suggestive finger gesture, but much less than in the past...I've tried to grow out of that childish behavior. This is a bit apples and oranges, but still the same. If you get the gesture from me, it's because your action just caused possible harm or injury to me or somebody else, the same with masks. Since the trend is down, but still out there, stay safe, but know that the FA are fatigued as well on this issue. It is their job to try to enforce the mask, but what the heck, even I take previously bought coffee into a restaurant that I am eating at when there is a sign, no outside food or drinks, I'm not perfect either.

I just took a trip with my family to South Padre Island. I booked me and my wife together as she is my companion pass. I booked my son, daughter-in-law, and 3 grandchildren on another itinerary with points. It comes to my son's attention that they were moved to an entirely different flight, on a different day, and my wife and I weren't. How that worked I have no idea. But since we caught it about 4 days before we took off we got us all on the same flights over and back. Was that irritating, heck, yes, but if it wasn't for having to respond to a post on here, you wouldn't know about it. Things happen, I don't even have the answer for how this situation happened, just roll with the punches and move forward.

@TimothyE42 Like you, I've been flying since 1974 and can't even guess how many hundreds of flights I've been on. In that time I've been dissatisfied with delays, rebookings, late arrivals, and take-offs, so what's NEW??? COVID didn't change any of that, it just seems to make people more determined to sign up for a group forum and vet. I for one am as frustrated as you, but you aren't presenting anything new about air travel that we all experience at one time (or more) or another. Much like deciding not to fly and drive only to be delayed for 3 hours because of an accident, rerouted on a detour route, and arrive at my destination 4 hours later. It happens.

@gsking Since you said, "logical" I'm speechless. 😚 I'm on board with you to some extent and don't disregard your personal thinking. In my own head, I'm thinking you're right, we had issues with folks acting up because of alcohol long before masks were in existence. I'm sure you will get your wish soon, and we can go back to masks of choice, which I will continue to use. Have a fun time in Montana.

@gsking Well, I'm not the poster but here is my reply. Yes, only when FAA, CDC, and SWA all have agreed that mask-wearing isn't mandated. Then I really have no place to request it. But just because the aforementioned lifts the mandate, I'm sure when that happens there is still a chance to get COVID. So I will continue to wear a mask, bite my lip, and be about my own business. I'm vaccinated, tested negative every time I got a COVID test, which was often. The thing is, COVID didn't make us do things we had to do, it just made everyone do the things we should have been doing all along, washing hands, keeping distance from people who may be sick, those that are sick, DON"T FLY, or go out, sanitize like no tomorrow. If you fly on my flight, you will see me, and my wife, in a mask, wiping down the seats and all buttons for the 3 chairs in our row, keeping distance, and hoping nobody take that middle seat. It's odd, but for 10 years or so we have given odd looks to the Asian population that had caught on to wearing masks way before the pandemic. I for one think now I'm the goofy one for not getting on board with them.

In all the years of flying, I've only had my bags not show up about 3 times, and mostly because of connecting flights. But it's also something I know is possible, even in the best circumstances. I've always been compensated for the issue and had bags delivered to where I was staying. But still a pain in the butt.
