You shouldn't have any problem getting an escort pass at the full service check-in counter. If it were me, I would just say that you're picking up a young traveler rather than trying to explain the layover situation which might just complicate things. Be prepared and have information about the flight he is arriving on in case they ask you.

@TheMiddleSeat wrote: Southwest's group travel program allows name changes up to 72 hours prior to departure, but according to the online info you need a minimum of 10 people. Details can be found here: https://www.southwest.com/html/air/business-groups/group-travel.html It might be worth calling the group reservations number listed on the page to see if there is any flexibility in the number of passengers. There isn't. Minimum of 10 required. Also, Groups is notoriously difficult to work with. The department is understaffed, and phone hold times are often hours+ long (seriously). And reservations booked thorough Groups cannot add EarlyBird Check-In to their itineraries. Essentially, you accept the limitations and inconvenience of working with them in exchange for a small discount and the flexibility of name changes and paying later.

Yes. "An adult traveling with a child six years old or younger may board during Family Boarding, which occurs after the “A” group has boarded and before the “B” group begins boarding. If the child and the adult are both holding an “A” boarding pass, they should board in their assigned boarding position." Keep in mind it's one adult per child, your entire group of 8 can't board in family boarding unless you have multiple children. More info about boarding can be found here: https://www.southwest.com/html/generated/help/faqs/boarding_the_plane_faq.html Enjoy your trip!

The CP (and A-list) qualifying points all are calendar based, so when you mentioned hitting the limit in February that would have to be from flights and CC spending in January and February next year, not the remaining/excess points from this year plus those two months. I agree with the other poster about booking any remaining personal trips with points (companion still included whether booked on points or cash), but I assume that the high volume of flights is due to business that you may be reimbursing. Keep using SW Visa for those to get the compounding benefit of extra points on SWA purchases. If you own your own business, then maybe it does make sense to use points even for work trips. I'd have to dig a little on this one, but I think it is possible to earn a second companion pass? If you had that high of a volume of flights and also had a child or someone else that would fly with you. Obviously that wouldn't be as useful if you normally travel only with your wife. I thought I saw something about this before, but can't find it now.

With a 12 year old you can still get a passenger escort to accompany the child to the gate and meet them at the gate at the destination, the only piece you're really missing out on is the "monitoring" of the child during flight. I'm a parent, I know all kids are different, but given a book, handheld game, or even just a pillow I think most can handle the flight. Discuss the flight with them so they know what to expect, make sure they know to follow crew member directions, and let them know to call on a member of the flight crew if they need assistance with anything during the flight.

FINALLY i was given the points after numerous contacts and having to get a bit ugly with them. But, there is a HUGE problem with the Chase Refer-a-Friend program that could negatively reflect on Southwest. The program is so mismanaged that when someone refers a friend, it can take 8-10 days for that friend to simply receive the invite email. This is why we have computers folks. it should be INSTANTANEOUS. Plus Chase keeps changing the rules, one day the program is in effect, the next it is not, then it is again. since this a program that Chase and SW work together on, maybe SW needs to get Chase to clean up their act. I know if Chase was in charge of the flying itself, I'd never risk my life on one of the planes. i do lover SW. Chase is the problem.

RR points can only be used for Southwest flights. Perhaps you are asking about other points earned from a credit card? If so, you'll need to ask your credit card company.

I use the FlightView app on my phone which lets you look up flights by flight number and you'll see each leg of the flight. In your example, WN 3536 is coming from DCA today. Google'ing the flight number "WN 3536" gives you the same information.

I agree that the emails are an unfortunate error, but the bigger issue seems to be that you seemed to be on track to earn the awards but then it didn't convert in the end, we'd probably need more detail to help on that front in terms of what you had planned to do and what actually happened. I'm not sure what the issue was, although it seems like a common one is spending on the Rapid Rewards Visa which is accrued at the statement closing, not as spending takes place. Hopefully that wasn't what got you.

"Southwest will accept the first two checked bags for free provided that the bags do not exceed 50 lbs and 62 inches (L+W+H)". Going over either limit would make the bag oversized. Measure the bag after you have filled it and while it's on the ground, just like it would be when you check it.

The link @franktravel provided above describes how TSA screens breast milk. In my past experience the screening has been quick and non-invasive. We all cringe when talking about TSA, but they do try to be sensitive to situations like this. Just calmly and politely explain your situation. Also, as mentioned before, give yourself plenty of extra time to get through security.

Unfortunately, this seems to be common. Yesterday I bought 6 flights, 3 for me and 3 for someone else. I didn’t get emails for 4 of them. For me it’s easy to look them up because they are tied to my Rapid Rewards account. But for the other person it’s impossible to look up without calling the airline. This happens whenever I buy a lot of lights in a short period of time. No idea if that’s the cause, just noticed a pattern.

Well, if you change your name or get a fake ID.... (just kidding! Don't do either of those.) Assuming you purchased a Wanna Get Away fare there's not much you can do. The ticket can be canceled, but only your friend can use the credit. They have a year from the date you purchased the original ticket to complete travel with the credit. If you purchased an Anytime or Business Select fare you can get a refund when you cancel.
