I am please to announce that SWA came through for me and I was awarded my companion pass. Though the details are specific about how the points are earned and that a person must use a link, it was after my research that I learned that however, I wanted credit for my friend I referred which I got since they awarded me the points for her but then did not want to award the companion pass. I would have understood more if they would have not given me the bonus points for the friend but, it appears that they believed me on the friend so, they should have honored the pass w/o me going through all the trouble. Chase said no, but SWA finally did their own research along with Chase and awarded me the pass.

Hi @yolanda2431,
Thanks for joining the Southwest Community! Like @TheMiddleSeat said, this is primarily a Customer-to-Customer discussion forum. That said, I'm excited to introduce you to @TiffanyV, who will be the Moderator for this Community Outreach board begining today. You can click on her profile to learn more about her, and, as always, reach out to me in a private message if you have questions.

Unfortunately, according to the website that first suggested the work-around I posted earlier, the "fix" is now broken again. 😞 I generally do not recommend Southwest gift cards. The limitations on use, inability to add funds or combine balances, and non-refundability make them risky and unattractive as an option. wrote: @BullsFan i have read a bunch of your posts... well put.. Hi @annlmutschler,
Can you clarify if your question is about air travel? The Community will be happy to help if you need some insight on how to rebook a ticket or change a travel date, but we cannot offer legal advice.

Flights booked using travel funds (and vouchers) do count as "revenue" flights. Points bookings, companion pass travel by the companion, and things like buddy passes -- basically anything that doesn't earn points -- do not.

@kcrawford1230,
Great question! One Rapid Rewards Account per person is what we allow, so both cards would filter into the same account. And yes, your enrollment points will count toward your Companion Pass!

Hello Lindsey: we have a Schnauzer 18 pounds who we need to start taking on our trips to Orlando. But all of the places I read it's so confusing about the dimensions of the carrier. One or two inches can really make a difference. I don't want to get to the airport and find out that I won't be able to take him without the option of placing him with the luggage when I know I can have him under the seat. Please advise. Thanks.

Even with a completely full flight, gate agents allow full size luggage that is much larger then the published carry on maximum size. They just let these people to put these bags in sideways. The bad thing is that this means that others may not have room for their carry on bags (that need to be put in wheels first) that meet the airlines carry on size requirements. The orange bag in this photo is within the carry on size limits. The green bag was obviously way too large to fit in the bin wheels first, and you could see it was way too large to fit in the overhead the way it was supposed to but the gate agents let it slide.

Thanks for posting this.. I am Deaf, born Deaf. 1. Check in (check bags, get your boarding pass, etc). They can't provide preboarding. 2. Once you get past security, you can ask any one of the individual gate agents for preboarding-give them your ticket, and they'll give you preboarding on the basis of disability. 3. Can anyone answer the concerns about understanding announcements once onboard? I have the same concerns-I can't hear announcements, so the only way seems to be to call down a stewardess and that is always a crapshoot-many don't explain what the announcement is (ex: we're delayed 20 minutes, please wait..). Thank you! Oh yes, and you can identify yourself as Deaf/hard of hearing when you buy your boarding pass online, FYI. And then yes, again at the gate or at the front when you check your bag, let them know again.

Hi @margareta51200,
Yes, if your backpack fits within those dimensions, you should be fine to carry it onboard. Particularly if its soft-sided - you can always squish those to fit beneath the seats and in the overhead bins. You mentioned you were a first-time flyer - welcome! I hope you have a fantastic trip!

You have 12 months - if you had the card all year then the points from december spending in 2016 that posted in January 2017 are included towards your 2017 CP qualification. Counting the points from December 2017 would be giving you 13 months. Southwest doesn't want to get daily updates from Chase on every card holder purchase. There is also the issue of returns soon after purchase to game the system. I don't think this is an IT problem - they most likely don't want to do that. An earlier poster didn't think the points were equal quality - why would they be? Southwest directly controls the points from flights, which is their core business - these are obviously favorable and reward the more frequent Southwest customers. Points from travel-related partners are also good, tie directly to Southwest's core business, and are relatively infrequent transfers of information (one hotel and one rental car per trip for instance. They can also be booked directly from Southwest's own website.

I am experiencing issues with mine as well. Best to call SWA and light them up and hold them accountable. Lots of excuses being given for why they aren't honoring the CPs as quickly as they should be. I got approved (and was verified as being approved by a SWA customer service rep) back in mid-November and still no CP. When I called yesterday, she said it would "take up to 15 days to show up in my account". Not a lot of help for a flight I have next week, so I had to waste a disproportionate number of RR points so my fiancee can fly back with me.

Good morning SWA, I was well aware of the SWA companion pass coupled with the Marriott flight & hotel packages which would allow redeeming Marriott points for 7 nights @ a Marriott property & so many SWA points. Earning 110,000 or more points would qualify for a Companion Pass. Obviously SWA modified the T&C's early last year as evidenced on this string but it appears a "selective" communication went out to RR customers informing them that the program was being modified but RR members had until 3/31/17 to take action to obtain a companion pass. My disappoint is that it appears SWA did not make a general annoucement on this change because if they had I would have acted upon it. I actually called the SWA RR phone line earlier this week (on 1/2/18) and spoke to a representaive and asked them a direct question about the Marriott/SWA program and he confirmed to me (verbally) that if I transferred 270,000 Marriott points I would obtain 120,000 SWA RR points and I would qualify for a CP for calendar 2018 & 2019. Obviously some of your reps are not up to speed on all of the nuances to these programs. As a loyal long time SWA flyer and SWA council participant I am making this request. Because I was not made aware of these changes to the program & SWA this past week informed me that my actions would result in a Companion Pass I am requesting I qualify for a Companion Pass for calendar 2018 (I will not request 2019) as anyone who took action early last year would have gotten '17 & '18 which would have included me if I had known about this previous impending change. Thank you in advance for any consideration on this matter.

The issues continue. We are currently unable to complete your request due to an undefined error. If this is the first time you have seen this message, please go back and try again. If you continue to have difficulties, please contact a Southwest Airlines Customer Representative for assistance at 1-800-I-FLY-SWA (1-800-435-9792).Reference code: SW9999992-AAAA-1hjiNreWRo-7CCUxIxR6TQ Occurred on: 12/26/2017 12:47:07 I've been using PayPal to make payments since at least 2015 and never had a problem until this year. I've talked with SW reps and each one has some lame excuse or solutions (i.e. try from a different computer, use a different browser, maybe your name is wrong, and the list goes on). Finally, they tell me you have to use a different form of payment. One of the main reasons I fly on SW is because of the PayPal credit convenience. I use PayPal for all types of transactions and never have problems. SW fix the dang problem. Have your IT people contact PayPal and resolve the problem. There has to be a reasonable fix for this. SW claims they pride themselves on good customer service; so, now would be a good time to show it. If they are not going to resolve the issue they should remove the PayPal option.

In the "old" days when WN was a low cost airline they didn't encourage empty flites to take off if later flite passengers were there to fill up more seats. Altho we don't fly with WN as often any more, I showed up early enuf to take an earlier flite recently. It would have cost $$ more. As it turned out my flite was overbooked! (I didn't pay the extra $$ and did get on myscheduled flite.
