Sorry to hear you left your ipad on the plane. Once items are found they are sent to a central lost and found in Alabama. Once in Alabama they begin the process of trying to find the owner of the item. If you didn't put your serial number on your report I would update your report with the serial number or any information about the iPad that would help them determine it is yours and not someone else's Keep in mind this process does take time so just be patient and hopefully your ipad will be reunited with you soon. -Blake

I noticed this with 2 flights I have in the next 3 days both are full flights but no middle seats may be occupied email. Personally the email didn't ever make me want to change my flight. people are slowly starting to travel again and many are getting the vaccine that's my guess as to why they stopped the emails. I think a lot of changes started this week and this must be one of them. -Blake

Once you get the companion pass you can add the companion to any flight you are booked on as long as a seat is available on the flight. You can add them to a flight you booked 6 weeks a go or a flight you booked the day you get the pass. If you notice a flight only has a few seats left you could book the companion on points to hold the seat (if you have enough points) that way when you get the companion pass you could cancel the points booking and book using the companion pass. -Blake

If you have any home repairs or upgrades you could use the card for those purchases. The weekly trip to the grocery store or daily coffee would also help. You can get to the $5,000 fast if you have stuff you have to buy. Going on vacation in the future maybe prepay for it with the card that way when it comes time to travel you can use the companion pass to get you there if you reached the spend requirement by then. The other crazy idea I heard from someone else is they bought $3,000 in airline tickets in their name that way when they go to book flights they want in the next year they can use the travel funds. One thing to note with this method is the funds expire in a year from when they bought those tickets so if something came up and they couldn't travel or didn't use all the funds they would throw away a ton of money so personally I wouldn't go that route. -Blake

First off sorry your flight was cancelled. Flights get cancelled on every airline for many reasons. Personally if I needed to be in a city for an important work meeting or dinner I'd fly in a day early just in case flights were to be delayed or cancelled. Flying in a few hours before your meeting or dinner can be dangerous and to me if it was life or death it would be worth $60-$80 for a hotel to keep my job. Sure it's not always possible but I'd surely try.

Sorry to hear your sons bag was left on the plane and received the wrong one. That's not a fun situation as a similar one happened to me a couple years a go. As mentioned the best thing to do is fill out a lost and found report and include all details of the bag and include anything that would help Southwest realize it's your sons bag and not another look alike. I would include some content like a notebook or a shirt that would be more likely to not be in someone else's bag. I hope your son gets his bag back soon. -Blake

If only 2 people buy EB then only those 2 will be automatically checked in 36 hours before the flight. For the other 4 people you will want to check in at the 24 hour mark before the flight. Keep in mind even with EB you can't actually check in until 24 hours before the flight. -Blake

Sometimes it's not just about the weather at the airport but can include caring for the staff if the storm is expected to get bad it wouldn't be nice of an airline to keep employees stranded at the airport. Also by the airline being proactive it gives you the customer a chance to plan ahead instead of waiting till 2 hours before the flight to say oh no now I need a hotel last minute. -Blake

Bring a fully charged phone/tablet that way you can read or listen to music or take advantage of the free inflight entertainment. I would also get a snack so you have something to munch on during the flight. OAK-SAT is a long route and you will probably have a layover as I think OAK-SAT non stops haven't returned yet. For pre flight i would show up an hour and a half to 2 hours before your flight that way you don't have to rush as rushing can make anxiety worse. You can also search here on the community for first time flyer or anxious flyer and you can see lots of other tips from other travelers. Enjoy San Antonio be sure you get some good Mexican food while your here. -Blake

@Kandjay First off for your reservations protection I would remove your confirmation number Second I do see a flight for tomorrow with 2 seats you would want to act fast so you can get on that flight. If it sells out again before you can grab the seats keep checking throughout the day as seat availability changes constantly. Your flight was probably canceled due to the storm in Denver not because its not a full flight i was just on 2 flights this week with 50-60 people out of 175. -Blake

@Bobbyduarte wrote: This is not true. I have had problems trying to have my wife board with me . I am a list preferred 4 years in a row. Companion pass for 2. the Southwest employee taking boarding passes does not know of this !!!! Twice I had to board with B group , trying to explain this post to the employees!!!! My wife will travel with me again in 2 weeks. I can only except more issues due to employees not letting her board with me. I am almost always A-16. By the time the employee looks and reads this post. We are boarding with B group!!!! For you to be able to board together you would need to be on the same confirmation number. For example I'm A List if I traveled with my mom and she is not on the same confirmation number as me she would need to board at her boarding group however if we booked together we would be assigned boarding positions right next to each other. Keep in mind if you book less than 36 hours before the flight you won't be right next to each other as other A Listers and EB check in customers will be assigned.

This is a policy that exist in some way on every US airline (even the low cost carriers) so yep it's still around. I think it was a policy made by the DOT. One difference between SW and a few other airlines is with SW you can book say 2 days before the actual flight and get the 24 hours to cancel however with other airlines this policy only applies if your booked 7 days or more before your scheduled flight. -Blake

Southwest did have a time period where travel funds would be extended until September 7th 2022 however you would have needed to cancel your flight before September 7th 2020 for this exception to apply. At this time it seems no other travel funds extensions are happening other than after your funds expire you can Contact Customer Relations to see if any exception can be made. On a case by case basis they will issue you a LUV voucher valid for 6 months for the funds minus a $100 fee per travel fund. You would need to request this within 6 months of your funds expiring. Since you still have a couple months see if you can find a weekend getaway somewhere that way you don't lose the funds. -Blake

If your flight is cancelled usually they would rebook you on the next available flight. If that option doesn’t work you can make 1 change to another flight within 14 days at no additional cost. With travel funds that could could be expired you could Contact Customer Relations and maybe they can assist with an exception for extending the funds if your flight is cancelled. weather is unpredictable if a weather event could impact your flight southwest will issue a waiver allowing you to change to another flight within 14 days I would proactively change it to beat the storm if your schedule allowed to try and avoid getting stuck. Im sure if your flight was cancelled due to maintenance they would probably issue you a LUV voucher which would be good for a year but that is always at the discretion of the gate agent (when the delay or cancellation occurs) or customer relations (after travel is completed) -Blake

Its all supply and demand. Maybe flights aren’t as full this week while next week they are close to sold out so prices are higher. Another thing is spring break is here so flights could be full since more people are starting to travel again. Another thing to keep in mind if you book the $800 flight and it drops to $400-$800 you can get a credit to use on another flight or in Business Select case you can rebook and get a refund to the original form of payment for the 1st ticket since BS tickets are refundable. -Blake

As others have said yes you can book with your points and your wife can then add you as the companion. If booking online or on the app Be sure you change all fields to your wife's information (her RR number, gender, DOB) I myself missed the gender field once because I wasn't paying attention took a little extra time to get it fixed. -Blake

@ChucklesTX wrote: I read the reply for not honoring drink coupons from 2015 and it makes sense. We have 4 that expired last year in December. It would seem to me that those should be replaced as flying during a pandemic when one is 70 did not make sense to my wife and I. Free drinks served with a round of Covid just isn't worth the risk Thanks It's my understanding that March 2020 and beyond drink coupons have been extended until the end of this year so be sure to hold on to the expired ones so you can try to use them if you feel comfortable doing so once drink service resumes.

You will need to go to the full service ticket counter. I just did this last week on a DTW MDW AUS booked as 2 one ways they were able to go in and check it all the way to final destination without me having to go out and recheck the bag (I exited the terminal anyways to say hi to a friend but glad I didn't have to recheck the bag) I have noticed not all employees know how to do this so you may need to ask for a supervisor if they say you can't. One other note this only works if the layover is under 4 hours otherwise you will need to claim and recheck the bags. -Blake

Usually if you can get a flight to Hawaii but not the return its because there isn't a connection available to get you back home. This may mean you need to overnight somewhere like Oakland so the next day you can go to your final destination or you could fly to Oahu and fly from there. -Blake
