The HOU route may have been a strong one, but if the other cities paried with MEX weren't performing it might not make sense to keep serving the MEX airport from only HOU.

In addition to the other posters' information, the change wouldn't generally be retroactive as the choice (where available) to make the stay earn Southwest RR points may affect the room price slightly - so the answer is probably "no" for a past stay, but "yes" for future stays if you confirm the intention to earn Southwest points in the future. Flights are retroactive - these are under Southwest's direct control and the price doesn't change whether you had rapid rewards or not - they can go back and apply flight credits after the fact up to six months or a year.

Thank you you for listening and advice from your own experience unfortunately someone who has authority at Southwest and the airport needs to change procedures for items left at airport or planes. How about tagging items with dates, airport, airline name, flight number and time with destinations, and area found. List by dates with airline. Maybe a start because what is procedure for finding what is lost??? The item???

No it is sad because trust in the human race is low. Someone thinks when they find something it is a blessing but it’s not when you know that person is missing something important to them. Ok lesson learned. Thanks for the concern. Have a great day.

@Mrkmbb Good point! I am pretty sure the extra space for let is a good ideas. Think of Amtrack that provided the passenger lots of leg room! I have been a passenger of Amtrack for years providing me a leg room a lots of love!!!!. Unfortunately for the aircraft like SWA and others, not enough of room for it. cramped and not enough of room for your leg is not good for blood circulating results in blood clots.

All airlines charge what the market will bear. Sometimes fares also go down. Advice would be to either buy the ticket and if fares go down, then change to the lower fare - providing you with travel funds for a future trip. Alternatively, just keep watching to see if fares go down.

I'm sorry to hear that your gift card was stolen, and for the ensuing trauma you are incurring. Every gift card I've ever bought or given contains a warning on the back of the card that states something like "treat this card like cash. Itis not replaceable" Southwest's does, too. It says "Gift card is not replaceable if lost, stolen or destroyed. Protect the card like cash." Again, I'm sorry to hear that you are having this trouble.

@jd991 you can only use credit card/vouchers/gift cards (combined 3 methods) or just points to book a flight and if you go to change the flight your difference in cost would be based off of how you originally booked the flight. points booking would pay the difference in points credit card bookings would be by credit card (or voucher) For example if you book a 6am flight on points and you want to change to the 6pm flight you would pay the fare difference in points. Southwest doesn't offer a points and Cash ticket at this time so you could not pay a difference with a credit card or voucher when the original payment was points. now if you want to go from using points to fully on the credit card/voucher you would need to cancel the original flight and rebook at the current price of the flight. Hope this helps! Blake

Hopefully it came Friday and you'll be able to book your trip. How far out was your flight? If you are looking out several weeks or months then there shouldn't be much change over the time you were waiting for the gift card. If the trip would be coming up very soon then you may see the prices go up a bit on some routes.

I can't find any citation on FAA.gov that specifies this so perhaps the other articles were out of date. I'm still suspcious that all major carriers have the same personal item + carry-on item rules, but I suppose the industry could have converged on that being the best for everyone.

Hello, so I did receive a email on last Friday that they found my phone. I had to pay a 42.00 shipping fee for them to ship it 2day (it said receive Tues) thru FedEx (yikes). Still cheaper than paying for a new phone. Since I did it after 6pm on Fri it ended up being 3day instead because I got it on yesterday, Wed. While waiting for my phone over last weekend I saw I got a separate email saying they are still looking for my item and haven't been able to locate yet. I thought that was weird because I just paid to have my phone shipped. Come to find out they gave me 2 separate claim numbers. One for my phone and 1 another for my charger. Luckly the phone is what made its way back to me. I am going to cancel the other for my charger because I am not going to pay another high cost shipping fee for a charger. I have a few already at home. Everything is fine with the phone so I'm happy now. Thanks for you all help and concerns.

Sorrry to hear this is turning out poorly for you, but themiddleseat is right: this is entirely a Chase problem,. Southwest only does three things in the entire process: 1) Southwest allows Chase to use the Southwest name in advertsing the card 2) Southwest sells RR points to Chase 3) Southwest adds those purchased RR points to your account when Chase tells it to That's it. I have no idea why Chase would have mailed to an address different than the one on your application, but that is something that Chase did, and something Chase will need to fix.

Are we talking like, half the plane is already full when you board? This is a great discussion board, I appreciate everybody's knowledge and enthusiasm! I imagine I'll probably be back again some time. Happy I was able to book with Southwest! Mike Mike, there is no rule of thumb answer to that question. It is dependent on departure city, destnation city, time of year, time of day etc, etc, etc. Given your situation, I think the answer is "not normally enough to impact you." given that there are 40 plus or minus windows seats on a plane and window seats fill up later than aisles and earlier than middle seats. Your greater risk is getting a high B or C boarding position. Again, given your situation, I think you should go for pre boarding, but it's your choice. I think you'll be fine, but if you decide to request pre-boarding once or twice this year as a fellow passenger I wouldn't feel put out at all. One scenario for high through passengers is service to a regional airport. Southwest in prior years had run a sort of a "wheel" where flights went from HOU-PNS-BNA and a separate route was going BNA-PNS-HOU. There seemed to be a large number of people that needed to get between BNA and HOU and either a lack of direct flights or other connections so that the planes going in and out of PNS were always full, but only half to 2/3 were going to PNS. There might also be flights going to LAS or MCO that originate at an airport with limited service and then stops in a larger hub like MDW or DEN and people stay on the plane. One way to avoid these is that you can check the flight number in Google (or flight aware or other tracking sites) and tell that the flight number continues all day, or if it originates at your home airport. Then, as a tie-breaker only because none of us think this is a big deal overall, you could prefer flight numbers that originate at your airport if the timing is comparable when choosing between a couple of options that work for you.

If not - pick any one of state-issued ID, passport, or Global Entry card as @dfwskier mentioned, there's no preference among those by TSA. Of course if you are renting a car while traveling, you'll need your driver's license.

Not to beat a dead horse, but here was another article on the topic. I guess United canceled a huge chunk of its flights at O'Hare as well. https://www.msn.com/en-us/travel/news/airlines-resorting-to-extraordinary-measures-to-protect-airport-workers-in-extreme-cold/ar-BBSVESn?ocid=spartanntp Agreed, if they start canceling en masse, then usually there will also be a storm advisory where you can move up your flight, but that may not work if your route is already busy and there aren't any empty seats. Good luck, I hope you make it on schedule Friday at least and get this ordeal put behind you.

@erbain wrote: My suggestion is that Southwest take a look at the demographic information available and consider whether an alternative to Companion Pass might be a good idea. Right now it would be far more valuable to me to have an automatic upgrade to business select and free wifi, for example, or have the ability to select a different companion for each of my trips (as then I could travel with friends). Based on my own survey of the CP holders that I know personally, the demographics may have changed somewhat from the old days based on what I see on these boards, but I'd need to see the actual numbers before deciding that it wasn't still a great fit for most CP holders. I'm not sure how much it will have shifted in percentage terms. To offer a devil's advocate argument - the CP is a benefit to customers that let's say historically flew with a spouse - the spouse enjoys flying (mind did the past several years!) and that locks you in to Southwest! The customer retention argument wouldn't be as strong if you can change the companion at will, there is some balance between making it a benefit to the CP holder and also enhancing customer retention to the airline. A program that favors spouses, domestic partners, children, parents, or BFF's makes much more sense for Southwest than one that allowed a new person every time. I'll make a counter proposal for this thread though: what if the CP allowed nomination of a primary and an alternate person at one time so that you didn't have to switch back and forth and had flexibility of either/or companions. I think a policy like this would help drive the CP holder to take as many or more flights on Southwest which seems to be one of the goals.

This offer is valid on all car groups at any participating Avis airport location in the United States." . It's there in writing. Southwest doesn't determine whether or not an airport locations is "participating." Avis does that. I think you can be pretty sure that any airport used by the airline would be "participating," Beyond that, it'd be up to you to verify whether or not it is. Some rent car companies grant points regardless of airport. Others don't. Apparently Avis does not. You might be able to get Avis to grant points to another airline's frequent flyer program you are enrolled in. It'd probably have to be of an airline that flys into the Alaska airport you used. Was there any line item on your car rental bill associated with points programs?
