No, we're not missing the point. You are. You just used 4 or 5 quite descriptive emotional adjectives to describe an airline seat. We don't understand why you would describe a seat with such vitriol, or if so, why that particular seat was so different than the one you ended up sitting in. In my opinion, the two seats are rather identical, and as an inanimate object, neither is worthy of such description.

Once a Wanna Get Away fare is purchased the money is associated with each individual traveler and not the person who actually spent the money to purchase the reservation. Since the original reservation was canceled, the individual travelers on the reservation have a travel fund (credit) that can be used towards a future flight. I don't know of exceptions being made for a traveler who is unable to travel. Perhaps with some documentation a refund could be arranged. You'll need to Contact Customer Relations --TheMiddleSeat

@bwallet wrote: I get Southwest. The two airlines that I frequently fly are Southwest and Emirates (international business class only), and there couldn't be two more different experiences. I like that Southwest is fun. However, somethings just cross a line, and I think that this is one of them. Be fun, joke, be lighthearted, but wearing something that says in some form or another, "I don't care", well, that isn't Southwest. Shouldn't the goal of Southwest to project "I do care"? I wouldn't get bent out of shape about it, but I have to admit that if I saw this, I would roll my eyes and think it wasn't appropriate. After that? I'd shrug my shoulders and move on with life. Well said. The threshold of thinking something is inappropriate vs. being so aggrieved to get online and act like someone kicked your puppy has been blurred. In today's world... they are one and the same. Being offended is now a badge of honor... signifying something to be proud of or something. And to take it a step further and conclude that this somehow implies this person can't do his or her job is another stretch. We're wearing masks much longer than many of us think is prudent. It's driving many of us bonkers and creating divisiveness more than unity. Why not take some of the seriousness out of the tires to soften the ride a bit? As with most of these online rants, I'm not sure what the goal is. To garner sympathy or solidarity? Because it seems if we disagree, we're told that we're not helping, or being mean, . I guess we're just supposed to say "Amen" and thus the afflicted party feels justified in their torment. Seems a little like letting the emperor run around naked in my opinion.

As of now, assume the vaccine does nothing for you. You still have to wear a mask. You still have to get PCR tested to go to some places (mostly islands). And you still have to get PCR or antigen tested to return to the USA. Considering they have no agreed upon "vaccine passport", don't expect it to change any time soon in this country.

@dfwskier wrote: Flight prices for the time period are much higher than for late August (at least for the routes I looked at). Southwest will reduce those prices at some point because it will sell no tickets at that level. My guess is it will reduce prices to the late August level or maybe even lower. Why? Very few people fly during that time. It's a dead season. For example, the best DAL / MDW price for late August is $79. The lowest price for the same flight starting mid September - using the discount code - is $80 Of course you can book, and if the price drops. you can change your flight, and pocket a travel fund. I will wait until my expected price drop for the time period happens. @dfwskier are you sure about that? When is this expected "price drop" supposed to happen? I typically go to Vegas around Halloween, which is right in line with the sale. Flight prices in Oct were always somewhat reasonable/normal (if you consider $200 one way normal which I do these days) - Oct 29 had a sale price of $136, so I grabbed that before the sale ended. Now that flight is $218, and that's the cheap one. The rest are $300-$400. Going home on Nov 1, the cheapest flight is now $361. Should have booked it when it was on sale at/around $200-ish, but I hesitated ... Nov 2 some are in the $200-$250 range, so I'll probably get one of those before they go up more. I don't anticipate them going down, but hey, maybe they will lol. I also debated going to Florida (FLL) for a day and then heading out to Vegas on 10/30 ... those flights with the sale were around $100 and going to Vegas was *under* $100, one option was just $75 ... then they went up the last day of the sale and now those flights are hundreds more. Shouldn't have hesitated. Oh well lol. If the flights do go down I can always book them later. --Jessica

Now that I'm thinking about it, I've never seen red eyes as an option on any flights that I take to/from PHL. --Jessica No they don't. You rarely see one leave after 9pm or arrive after midnight. The longest direct flight I've seen is Vegas to FLL. We had PHL > LAS and back nonstop up until 2019, then they eliminated the nonstop route and 1-2 stops is now the norm. *However* I am starting to have hope it will come back - on future itineraries there are now options for one stop, no plane change. I haven't been able to book something like that in years, so I am hoping an actual nonstop is next! Plenty of Vegas flights coming back to Philly arrive after midnight though. 😶 My next trip in a few weeks, I leave Vegas at 2:25PM and get back at 12:30 with a stop in DEN. At least it's a Saturday so I don't have to work the next day ... I've had to do that one too many times, lol. --Jessica

Not correct. You don't need any tests to go TO Mexico. You need an antigen test to get BACK from Mexico. Your hotel should be able to arrange one.

What website did you read this? Looking at Southwest, it mentions nothing about needing a negative COVID test to fly in/around California. If you are traveling *to* LA, you may be required to quarantine, but that won't apply to you. If you are just connecting through LA, how does needing a negative COVID test make any sense? https://www.southwest.com/coronavirus/california/ --Jessica

If you received a C position at exactly t-24, it's most likely that your flight is a continuing leg of another connecting flight or flights. Those who have booked the connecting flight can check in t-24 for their originating flight's departure, which is earlier than when you can check in. This gives them a better position for the connecting flight than is possible for you to receive.

The only nuance with RR points is with taxes. 1. Flights booked with Points don't get charged some federal taxes. As such, cheaper flights (which include a higher percentage of taxes) are relatively a better deal with Points. 2. On the other hand, international flights have many taxes which must be paid in cash. Flying back from Cancun is about $100 in taxes if I recall correctly... so your Points only cover part of the bill. This likely doesn't matter to most people, but don't be surprised if your flight isn't free.
