You didn't lose a year of travel. Plenty of places to fly in 2021. I'm on my 13th vacation, courtesy of my CP. Flights are extra cheap in many cases. Any bonus you got last year was just that...a bonus. And you could still fly. I hit 50k miles last year. So I'm really not sure what your issue is. I don't understand why the people complaining about the CP aren't even using their CP. Only a very few exceptions like Belize and Turks are closed, and that's certainly not the fault of SWA. I could complain that I earned a CP for this year that I could have gotten for free. But I don't expect to get another year out of it. They already gave us the bonus points to get there. Now I'm incentivized to fly and spend like crazy to get it for 2022. My wallet already hurts.

I agree with other responses, no body shares a normal flight that's on time with good service. When I fly the only things I say to flight attendants are, some type of greeting like "Hello" or "Good Morning," then when they ask what I want to drink I'll say what I would like than say thank you when they hand it to me then I say thank you again when I get off the plane. Of course now, I also wear my mask when I fly and don't complain. With this practice, I've never had problems with flight attendants.

Thank you in advance Lithium batteries with more than 100 watt hours | Transportation Security Administration (tsa.gov) As the other poster mentioned the limit is 100 Wh or 100,000 mWh so these are both okay. As @dfwskier mentioned the key requirement is that you carry it on - in the rare event that there was a problem with one of these they want it in the cabin where someone can do something about it instead of in luggage - TSA will confiscate them from checked luggage. That's a much more critical requirement than the watt-hours which I've never heard of anyone checking.

As I pointed out in my earlier post, there is risk to using the flat tire rule. The risk is that you don't take a flight because all the standby slots get used up. If that happens, I don't know if Southwest tries to put you out the next day or not. Even if so, the risk having to spend an extra night somewhere IMO reduces the viability of playing the flat tire game. I have used the flat tire rule twice. Once because rain covered roads made it impossible to get to DEN on time, and the other was really due to a flat tire on my way to DAL. So did you cancel the flight, so as not to be a no- show? Or call and ask for the standby? I presume it takes a call before the flight leaves, and then an in person visit at check in? Nope. You just go to the airport and tell them that you missed your flight. If memory serves you do have to get to the airport within 2 hours of the original departure time. If you get there too late, you could be no showed. If you call in, the only option provided is cancellation. I learned that with my DAL flat tire.

The plane was also full so I had to get off the plane, because I wasn’t leaving her. But I’m very furious with SW. security came over because I was so upset. We needed to get home. Security didn’t even think she was but they don’t have any control over the flights. But I felt they had someone they needed to get on the plane. Very frustrating. It's mainly for the handlers. I get caution tags put on my bags when they are too LIGHT (as in empty). They don't want them to throw their backs out lifting a deceptively light suitcase. If they were that worried about fuel, they wouldn't give us two free 😉

So in this case once you combined the $10 with your $300 you aren't able to separate the 2 amounts once since they have already been combined and the rule is the reservation will take on the earliest expiration date of funds you apply to a reservation. -Blake And the oldest ingredient affects the freshness of the batch. I try hard to avoid this issue, but it's difficult. Risk funds expiring, or risk adding new funds to them and then having THOSE expire. Sometimes I've purchased flights with new funds if they were more likely to be canceled. And this time I bought a cheaper flight to avoid adding funds to expiring funds, and now I have to spend more to change to a better time. Oops. I gambled and lost. Bummer, yes. But still much better than the alternative.

I'm all for following the rules, but the LAW overrides Southwest policy. Southwest cannot demand that passengers wear medical devices on their faces. They aren't licensed to practice medicine. And basing some whimsical policy on a random executive order isn't how you law is made. Only Congress can make laws. Until there is an actual codified statute EXPLICITLY stating that 2 year olds be forced to wear face masks, bringing up the old "following rules" platitude is senseless.

That $43 discount would have vanished had you checked one bag, let alone two. That's my favorite part. I travel a lot between two houses, or with scuba gear. Carrying full (or empty) suitcases free is invaluable for me. And the last time I tried to change a flight on another airline....I said never again.

In the last few years, didn't Southwest announce that it would no longer overbook flights? I thought I read somewhere that they might need the seats for employees to reposition them due to unforeseen circumstances.

Yeah, nothing like paying a $50 checked bag fee x 4 to make you realize that RT flight you booked was really $200 more expensive than you thought, and that the miles you earn from it are essentially useless.

Hey @acspock! I was also able to take advantage of this promotion and completed the spending requirement last Sunday, April 25. I was impressed that we already received notification of the Companion Pass yesterday, and I was able to add my husband to a trip immediately. You'll be able to add your Companion's details when you log into your Rapid Rewards account, and it will show on your My Account page. If you get the Chase app, there is a status bar that tells you where you're at with spending that we thought was a nice touch.

You're kinda pointing out the obvious. While at first blush, it would make sense for them to have us "invest" in points. After all, they can (and did) turn around and devalue them before you can use them. And yes, they could use the money now without paying you interest, kinda like forever stamps at the post office. But looking at the other way, why would they give you a discount that you could turn around and spend today? Then everyone would do it, and they would lose money. The closest you can get to this is the occasional SW gift card on sale below face value. I've gotten a few of these.
