No problem! The e-mail subject said: "You've been selected for a special bonus." Here's part of the e-mail contents. It looks like it's "by invitation only" and I don't know how they select people; I guess I got lucky! --Jessica

That isn't how this works. If you booked a flight and then cancelled it yourself, you don't get a refund back to your credit card, you get travel funds to use until 2022 assuming you cancelled before September 7. If Southwest had cancelled your flight, or if you booked an Anytime or Business Select fare, then you are eligible for a refund. --Jessica

Hi all, A few weeks back I was checking my Southwest e-mails and saw an invitation to join E-Rewards. E-Rewards is an opinion/survey site much like Rewards for Opinions (the web sites are almost identical), but the difference with E-Rewards is they have a variety of real-life rewards you can redeem, everything from gift cards to magazine subscriptions to airline miles with multiple airlines (not just Southwest). If I joined and completed a survey I would get 1,000 bonus RR points. I completed a survey about a week ago and my points just got deposited into my account. So check your e-mails, you may have also gotten an invitation, and it's a very easy way to get more points and more stuff! --Jessica

I like this feature! I rebook flights so often when prices change, even if the difference is minimal, and as a result I have quite a few travel funds that are less than $10. Converting those funds to points is a benefit to me. After converting a few I currently have $70 spread out across 5 different travel funds 🤣 I'll probably convert at least one other - thanks Southwest for the added flexibility! --Jessica

@chgoflyer looking at your screen capture if you click "View All Destinations" you get to what @bec102896 was describing - but the low fares has a starting destination already populated - for me, it's Philadelphia. And there are no $39 fares here 🤣 On mobile, just clicking the sale banner takes you directly to the low fares page (filtered by departing airport, again Philadelphia for me), so the web site via a computer/laptop browser has an extra click to get there. From what I know there's no way to just show what fares are $39 (or any specific price point) regardless of destination or arrival. Might be interesting to be able to filter flights simply by price because I've always wondered where these sales are - I never see them from Philadelphia because our fares just never get that low - until the pandemic, but that was an extraordinary situation and flights are returning to normal levels. So @sr103 to answer your question, there is no easy way to do this except to select every single departure city and go through the fares and see which ones are $39. Typically Phoenix AZ has cheap fares, and they are one example of a departure city that has $39 fares. --Jessica

That's rough. Flights have been going up in price lately (back to pre-pandemic levels in some cases) so I can understand the price jump. I have never had a problem purchasing points and not having them post to my account though. Having it take "up to 30 days" seems odd. For me it's always been instantaneous. Also having a SW agent book an incorrect flight also seems odd. Did you give the person the right airport codes and times? All that to say, Southwest is having a 3 day sale going on right now, so you might want to check if any of your flights have decreased in price. If they did, you can easily change your flight and get the difference as a credit that will last until 2022. --Jessica

Flight prices are definitely going up and dare I say back to pre-COVID levels in some cities. In my case, PHL - LAS are back to $200+ each way which is :sigh: normal for the past few years, 2018-2019. So glad I booked some flights a few months ago when the prices were literally 75% of that (around $50 each way!). --Jessica

If you didn't cancel and rebook the flights within the 24 hour period of booking them, you can simply go on the Southwest web site or app and change the flights, and the difference in price will be a travel credit that you can use in the future (until 2022). --Jessica

Strange, I've never been on a flight where wi-fi was completely out of service - then again, I rarely pay for it and typically only use the Southwest site / app for the free movies, music, etc. You do need to be connected to wi-fi to use it, and it's always worked for me. Just worked on my flight last week. You can always contact Southwest directly and voice this concern, but in my opinion, wi-fi is pretty much at the bottom of the list of things I care about when choosing an airline. --Jessica

Pretty good article here from CNN about the realities of catching COVID-19 on an airplane. Excerpt: But according to some experts who point to the very few documented cases of in-flight transmission, the chances of catching Covid-19 while on board a flight are actually relatively slim. Fear of flying during the pandemic has drastically reduced global air traffic, which has also been restricted due to border closures. If new scientific claims are borne out, the perceived heightened risk of boarding an airplane could be unfounded. https://www.cnn.com/travel/article/odds-catching-covid-19-flight-wellness-scn/index.html --Jessica

Yes, although it depends on when you are flying - middle seats are guaranteed to be empty until October 31 at present, so after October 31 you may no longer get a full row to yourself. However, it's possible that the date will be extended, and it's also possible that flight capacity will be 'down' for quite awhile (rest of this year), so if you're flying from now until end of year at least I wouldn't worry too much about it. The chances are high that you'll have a row to yourself. --Jessica

Your image isn't approved so I can't see your specific error - can you explain what it was? Were you using a computer browser or your phone browser or the app? Have you tried all 3 with the same error? In my experience, I can change flights up to a certain amount with no issues - I feel like there is a change limit that gets reached, and then I get 'we could not price your flight' errors and I have to reach out to Southwest for help. I always contact them via Direct Message on Twitter and they help me in minutes. I would suggest giving that a try the next time you need to contact them. Thanks, Jessica

It doesn't sound like they were using Southwest Vacations. Southwest does have a "Hotels" option on Southwest.com that goes to SouthwestHotels.com and is in partnership with Booking.com. It sounds like they were using that especially if they were booking a more expensive hotel to get "extra points" which is a common thing they do (and I've used it many times). I'm not sure what number you called, but at the very bottom of SouthwestHotels.com there is this info: Hotel customer service numbers: 1-888-850-3958 (English) or 1-866-938-1297 (Spanish) There's also a customer service page here: https://secure.southwesthotels.com/content/cs.html?aid=2012072 I'm sorry you had trouble booking, but without knowing more information (error message, did you have a problem entering your payment information, did you try using a different browser, etc.) it's difficult to know what your situation was and how it could have been resolved. --Jessica

Why would you book your trip with another airline instead of booking directly on Southwest (and not Southwest Vacations)? I used to use Southwest Vacations, back in the days when they mailed you physical airplane tickets (!!) but I stopped using them when I realized that many hotels consider them a third party service, and you don't get hotel loyalty points (for example, MGM Resorts or Caesars Entertainment properties) when you book the hotel through a third party. So, I book my flight and my hotel separately. For trips where I don't care about hotel loyalty, sometimes I'll book through Southwest Hotels (which goes through Booking.com now), and the nice thing about that is I get Rapid Rewards points for my stay. --Jessica

Changes happen, especially these days. Normally when Southwest modifies your flight you get an e-mail about the change, and an option to change your flight *at no cost* within a certain amount of time after the change was made (typically around 72 hours). Did you try this? You could have switched your flight to a nonstop one, for free. If for some reason you did not get an e-mail, you would receive the same notification on the Southwest website or app if you tried to change your flight. --Jessica

I don’t expect the airline to do anything so I have been moving my weekly flights to other airlines as much as possible to prevent the repeat of the same treatment. Does anyone else have a opinion. I have a hard time taking this post seriously. A mask for a dog, really? "The dog has priority over people" doesn't make a lot of sense either. I thought that dogs had to be in a pet carrier underneath the seat? (Policy: https://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/traveling-with-animals/pets/index-pol.html) The only exception to this might be a service dog, and they would need to be in the front row where there is more room for the animal. --Jessica

I agree that mobile drink coupons need to happen! Hopefully Southwest will implement it in the future. Speaking of drink coupons though, I do wonder if we will be sent more, or if our current coupons will be extended. I have a few that expire at the end of November. Drinks aren't currently being served on board, only water. --Jessica

Southwest is going by their standard policies here: 1) nonrefundable tickets are nonrefundable, *unless* Southwest cancels the flight, then you are eligible for a refund 2) travel funds can only be used for the person who purchased the ticket, and they are not transferable to other people. Sorry for any confusion or disappointment. --Jessica

I wasn't aware that food/drinks were still being served on flights, but if you eat or drink, logic implies that you need to take your mask off to consume food or drink a beverage. It's the same if you are eating at a restaurant, whether indoors or outdoors. You should take your mask off to eat or drink, and put your mask on when finished. --Jessica

"they have always came out to the same price in comparison to what a new booking would be" This is rarely my experience. Flight prices go up and down all the time. I only ever rebook when the flight price decreases so I can get the travel funds to use later. Based on your example, I almost feel that the prices you should have seen were -10 or -20, since the flight change seemed cheaper than your originally booked price of $140. --Jessica

She will be 77 years old and you want her to die on your plane? what is wrong with Southwest, you can't refund $257.00? Wow, let's not get hysterical. September 2022 is actually very generous and gives plenty of time to use your travel funds - that's more than 2 years away. No one is dying on planes. And as others have said, no airline is refunding nonrefundable tickets ("Wanna Get Away" fares in Southwest's case) when you cancel your own flight. This is the risk you take when you book the cheaper, nonrefundable fare. The exception to this rule is if Southwest cancels your flight - *then* you are eligible for a refund if you so desire, but you must contact them and request one. All the information regarding Southwest's already flexible policies regarding travel funds and cancellations can be found here: https://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/purchasing-and-refunds/refund-info-pol.html --Jessica
