Awww now my feelings are hurt after losing a "solved" post 😞 Sorry if I took your response the wrong way, I did think you thought I marked it solved, but hopefully you could tell I wasn't too upset about it. As @DancingDavidE (who btw is also a great member of the Fantastic 5) said, we can all suggest ideas, but likelihood of implementation is slim. I do try to remain optimistic that the powers that be do read these comments or get a summary of the suggestions. Perhaps our Fantastic 5 group should start a collection of ideas that we support... Enjoy Denver, it's looking a lot like Seattle today. Funny because I'm actually heading to Seattle from Denver tonight.

One of the great benefits of being A-List is the ability to fly standby on an earlier flight for no additional charge. This works great and is easy when I'm traveling with just a carry-on bag. Now I find myself visiting family and transporting some gravy (no joke) so TSA says "no way" to my carry-on plan. Can anyone speak from experience how standby works with checked luggage? Will bag go ahead earlier even if I don't? Any possibility bag goes on originally ticketed flight while I depart earlier? Thanks everyone, safe travels and happy Thanksgiving!

Whoa there pardner... First, thank you for the compliment, I'm glad you appreciate my responses, but I had nothing to do with marking this question solved. I completely agree with you, it would be a great time saver if a friend's information could be stored.

No official word from Southwest, but everything I have seen and read indicates flights will not happening for quite some time. May seems to be too soon, especially since the flight schedule is already open until August 2018. My guess is early to mid 2019.

Mismatching middle names should not cause a problem with TSA, especially if it's an initial versus full name.

Let me see if I understand this... you bought the ticket with Patti, but her ID has Pat? That's a minor difference and I don't anticipate that will be a problem. Even if TSA doesn't like it, they would let you through security after a few additional questions and perhaps a more thorough screening such as when they allow people through that don't have any ID. Just give yourself a few extra minutes to get through security.

1. Yes, canceling a reservation made with points will refund the points back to the account they came from. In your case I'm going to guess you booked both travelers flights in one reservation. As prices may have gone up since you originally booked, you would want to call Southwest and have them cancel only your SO's ticket, leaving yours in place so you don't end up rebooking your flight at a higher point value. You have to call to do this. If SO has their own reservation it can be canceled online. Then, add him as your companion. 2. No, on the checkout screen it shows an email address for the confirmation which can be your email instead of the companion. The flight does however show up in the companion's list of upcoming flights in their RR account so it's not hidden from them. Sidenote, when you cancel the SO's existing reservation, if their email address is associated with the reservation they will be notified of the cancelation. This could cause some confusion and questions so be ready to explain that you weren't planning on going without them, lol. Also, be ready to fight for the middle seat, it's the best! Have a great trip and good luck with the surprise!

Any bonus points associated with a promotional offer from the credit card are posted to your Rapid Rewards account a few days after the close of the billing cycle in which you completed the requirements for the bonus. Points earned from purchases are also posted after the billing cycle closes. If you then have enough Companion Pass qualifying points you'll see the ability to designate a companion and add a companion to any of your booked flights within a few more days of the points posting to your RR account. Good luck and enjoy CP!

I agree that having pets in the cabin is not ideal, but just to clarify, cabin air is not 100% recirculated air, it's actually a 50/50 mix and highly filtered. Similar to an office building, over a period of time, the air does completely change from what was in the plane at the start of a flight. http://www.askthepilot.com/questionanswers/cabin-air-quality/

Just want to add that your brother can use the travel funds from the refund (assuming you purchased a non refundable Wanna Get Away fare) within a year from the original purchase date. Travel must be completed within the year.

If an individual wanted to do this "upgrade" they could easily call Southwest who would cancel the original purchase and use the travel funds towards payment of the BS fare. I don't see why it would be different when booking through a travel system unless the system gets notified that the original purchase was canceled which might create problems or if only certain people are authorized to make changes, but you'd think the passenger could make changes. Perhaps initiating a change to the original flight instead of canceling would be better? And to clarify refundability in this case, if the original purchase was WGA then it's non refundable to begin with. If Anytime was purchased, it's refundable, but when "upgrading" you're better off not refunding and having funds held as travel funds so they can be used immediately towards the purchase of the BS fare. If there's an actual refund they would go back to the travel system and the flyer would be back at step one. Mixing non refundable and refundable money makes all the money non refundable so if the original purchase was WGA, the new BS ticket would be non refundable.

Lol @DancingDavidE, I'm a slight germophob and read too much about flying. Just google'ing "tray table bacteria" is frightening! Perhaps a little exposure is beneficial for kids, but I'll pass. Being in the middle seat all the time I get more than enough exposure without the tray table.

Sure, you can add an additional cardholder. The primary cardholder whose RR account is associated with the card would get all the points and earn CP if you qualify for it.

@bboerger If I'm reading your post correctly, you're stating you had a refundable ticket. If you really did have a refundable Business Select or Anytime fare ticket then the amount you paid is automatically transferred into travel funds in a no show situation. All remaining unused Business Select and Anytime funds will be converted to reusable travel funds for the originally ticketed Passenger only. Can you clarify what fare type you purchased? Have you verified there are no travel funds associated with your confirmation number? https://www.southwest.com/flight/travel-funds-search.html

It's most likely what @chgoflyer said, but there are a couple other reasons the two numbers wouldn't match. If they were always the same there wouldn't be a need for two different counters. -Bonus points earned don't count towards CP. These could be earned via the online shopping portal, rental cars, hotel bookings, or A-List and A-List Preferred % bonuses -Points are subtracted from your main RR total when you redeem them for flights, but not subtracted from the CP count Perhaps another one or two that I'm missing

If your statements close on the 5th your cutoff for earning points via credit card spending this year is December 5th. There are reports that points earned from hotel stays booked through southwest.com do count towards CP, but the fine print indicates otherwise so there's no guarantee about those points. The only way to earn A-List is to fly, points earned otherwise do not count towards status.

Fly more? Change existing reservations fares from Wanna Get Away to Business Select if possible and use BS for new reservations. Lots of Southwest credit card spending, car rentals, and hotel stays would also work. Also, hopefully you're referencing the CP progress in your Southwest account and just calculating projected points. Remember, points must post by Dec 31 so credit card spend will only work for the billing cycle that ends in December.

No personal experience, but I've read reports within the last year that say points from Rocketmiles post within a few days and do qualify for CP. Also, I thought I saw that Rocketmiles and booking.com were actually the same company? If so, points should post in the same amount of time.

Yes, your plan will be fine. I believe requiring the car seat be in the window seat is to prevent it from blocking the quick escape of someone during an emergency. That's not a concern with the harness so it can be used anywhere.

Good catch, that's a small, but very important detail. There are only 4 oxygen masks on each side of the aisle for each row so no, you would not be able to have two lap children in the same three seat section. You'll need to spread out a little, either going across the aisle or behind. The side benefit of this is that if the flight isn't full it's doubtful all the seats in your row are occupied and your lap children can have a seat. Also remember that you'll need to present proof of age at the baggage check-in counter for lap children.

Aerosol hairspray appears to still be allowed in either your checked bag or carry on (less than 3.4oz). Other aerosols may be banned depending on what the product is. You can check for more information at TSA's website https://www.tsa.gov/travel/security-screening/whatcanibring/items/hairspray

If you have a Rapid Rewards account log into it and it will show your confirmed reservations. You can also check your spam or junk mail folders in your email account for the confirmation email. If you don't find anything in either of those places you'll want to call Southwest to confirm your reservation.

This has been brought up before and I've still not seen a rebuttal to the idea that the people changing seats may have also purchased Business Select seats. Perhaps they were just late to board? You don't know if they purchased BS, but yet you assume they didn't and you believe you are entitled to the exit row. Additionally, if going by ticket cost alone, even on a WGA fare it may be possible for a through passenger to pay more than a BS traveler on a non-stop itinerary.
