@satma1 wrote: I have a voucher that expires on March 26th. But I can't travel before that. Can I sell the voucher or give to any charity? Selling it is prohibited, but hopefully if you gave it to someone they could return the kindness in some way later. Donation could be an option, although make sure if you go this route that they are aware of the short turnaround to use it. Otherwise depending how much it is, take a weekend day trip to a nearby airport - if you can get to MDW, MSP, StL, now DEN? and some others you can take public transportation to the downtown and back. EWR I'm not sure, and LGA you'd have to take either the M60 or Q33 bus. BOS and PHL both connected by rail. Boston always fun with a train, DCA easy, I'd go to BWI eat at O'Brycki's and then return without ever leaving the airport. Vouchers count as cash I believe, so your flight would be tier qualifying if you are close to any milestones for qualification go ahead and make a points run.

@TheMiddleSeat wrote: Even if you booked the two legs as separate reservations you can request the bags be checked through to your final destination while you are dropping off bags. You would need to do this at the counter, not via a kiosk. The only time you should have to retrieve your bags mid-trip is if you have a layover when returning to the United States from an international location. --TheMiddleSeat Of course there is no gurantee they will check it all the way if each leg is booked seperatly. I'm guessing that would all depend on the person at the counter.

Agree with @DancingDavidE, it's not likely a Southwest rep suggested for you to purchase all the points needed for a flight, there's no reason to buy points unless you are trying to redeem your points and are just a few short. Purchasing a flight with cash is ALWAYS a better deal than purchasing 100% of the points required to redeem for the same flight. Did you call Southwest looking to redeem your points for a flight and discovered that you were short on points? Even if it was mentioned you could purchase points you should always compare the cash price versus the cost to buy points. --TheMiddleSeat

I was able to hunt down the company that gave it to me. It took a long while but I found them and talked to them about it. I was just intending to warn them but it turns out, they had the three letters I needed to put in front of the ticket number to make it valid. So I was able to book my trip after all! Now, it is beyond me why SW wouldn’t just put those letters on the ticket in the first place. I’m sure there’s some security reason for having a verbal alpha code with the printed numeric code, but wow does that create a headache! Thanks everyone for your thoughts and help with this issue!

Sadly there's not a quick, easy way to find the non-stops. I pick a random date in a month then look at every day of the following week to see if there are flights. If not, then I go on to the next month and repeat. When you do find one you can determine which days of the week the flight operates and then check that/those days until you determine the service stops. It takes some work, but it's pretty quick after you've done it a few times. --TheMiddleSeat

Why didn’t you get an outfit and a brush and some makeup for the meeting? I would not sit around and wait on my luggage for a meeting I flew all the way to. You could have gotten what you needed so it wasn’t a waste.

@nothing22387 You might be able to book both of you as a RT then call the airline and say you need to cancel the one way for your daughter only (within 24 hours and) they should be able to refund the one way since it would be less than 24 hours since booking. they might issue you a separate confirmation number for her (then) one way flight but at least it’s all booked in one credit card charge and you will both be on the same flight. Hope this helps! Blake

@weycosteve , I am sorry that this happened to you. There are many reasons for flight schedule disruptions, and as a travel warrior, I feel as if I have experienced almost all of them (on every airline). Weather, computers, attendants accidentally deploying the emergency slide, crew with too many hours of flight time so cannot take off, and even an attack at the arrival airport TSA checkpoint that required us to be held out on the tarmac for hours. I have had more two hour hotel nights than I ever wanted as well. ( I call them “shotel” nights because they are really for the shower and not the sleep. Fortunately I can catch some zzzz’s on a plane when I finally get on one, but only because I had so many chances to try and learn.) I agree that at times, travel (or trying to travel) can be a bad experience. I hope you will give Southwest another chance. I have flown them all, and the potential for delays is there for every airline. I find the Southwest policies regarding open seating, two bags free and no change fees to be the best option for the majority of my flights. Like you, I have had some bad experiences with them, but not as many on Southwest as some of the others, especially for domestic flights. You may have heard a lot of rumors while waiting because I have experienced that waiting crowd crescendo before as well, and I doubt all of what you heard is true. I would suggest a letter to customer service relating your experience as the best option to try for a refund or a voucher. No guarantees, but I have had some results with that approach. I wish you safe travels in the future, and I wish that your experience had been an on-time no-complications flight.

@TheMiddleSeat wrote: Certainly wouldn't be a bad idea, just to make sure a cable doesn't get caught on any machinery or another bag. You can bring your own bag or the car seat bag Southwest sells at the check-in counter might work. @elijahbrantley or @DancingDavidE can you comment about the Southwest bags? Would a walker fit? --TheMiddleSeat If the walker folds up flat it may even seem too roomy, grab some of the excess fabric and tuck it in around the walker to make it easier to handle. This reminds me of a recent trip where the gate agent actually had taken our stroller out and unfolded it so it was baby-ready before we even got off the plane. Kicktail for you! I think that was DTW, I've forgotten with so many trips last year. Maybe BWI.

At 24 hours prior to departure you will be able to view/print your boarding pass. Boarding positions for EarlyBird Check-In customers are assigned at 36 hours prior to departure, but not viewable for another 12 hours. As long as your reservation indicates EarlyBird Check-In is associated with the reservation you'll get the benefit. --TheMiddleSeat Did this or any other comment in the thread answer your question?

@Julieanne916 every time you change your companion, even if it's changing back to a companion you previously traveled with, it counts as a change. Also, you can't book flights for companion A until you have completed all travel with companion B. --TheMiddleSeat

@dfwskier wrote: @Mochalatte116 wrote: Were you able to use the footrest and are the pictures shown approved by southwest? Thank you. The FAA (not Southwest) rules state that items MUST be stored COMPLETELY under the seat in front of you. This insures the best opprtunity to evacuate the plane in the event an emergency evacuation is needed. IMO, thus ANYTHING that blocks access to the aisle is forbidden. Clearly anything blocking floorspace in an aisle seat or middle seat is a clear violation of the rule. The window seat is a bit more ambiguous as the only person being affected by the item is the person sitting in the window seat. - that is unless the item shifts in an emergency landing. That being said, the item WOULD inhibit the evacuation of the person in the window seat and maybe others. Thus, IMO the item is also not appropriate in that seat position. As a point of calrification, if I were sitting in a window seat and someone between the aisle and me used one of these things, I sure as heck would hit the flight attendant call button and ask that it be removed. FYI: That rule only applies during take off and arrival, or when specifically directed by a crewmember.

@Apalutexas wrote: Last year my wife was 5,000 miles short of the 100k miles of renewing her companion pass. To achieve her goal, in December she purchased $5,000 on her Southwest credit card which qualified her for the card. However, to prevent her from getting her companion pass they were slow to registering her points in december so she didn't get her companion pass. Let me guess...you made purchases in December, your statement closed in January, and the points posted in January? If that's the case, it's been noted many times here in the Community and is documented in your card terms that points post shortly after the statement closes, NOT when you make the purchase. Even a statement closing date of late December is unlikely to result in points posting in December. Even if this isn't your situation, complaints about points earned from a Southwest credit card should be directed to Chase who issues and manages the card. Southwest has no involvement in regards to when points earned from credit card spending are posted to your RR account. Lastly, earning Companion Pass requires earning 110k points in a calendar year, if you were really at 95k as you stated (5k short of 100k) then you really needed 15k points. --TheMiddleSeat

Southwest requires 25 one way flights to qualify for A-List status. If you book a trip as a roundtrip that would count as 2 flights for the purpose of A-List qualification. Booking as one-way versus roundtrip does not affect your qualification count. The one exception would be if you booked a flight to go from A to B that had a layover in Q. If you booked the flights separately as A to Q and Q to B that would count as 2 trips for A-List. This is usually more expensive than just booking A to B and could lead to problems if the A to Q flight was delayed or if you were planning on checking baggage. Hope that helps clear things up, --TheMiddleSeat

Drink coupons are sent to a Rapid Rewards member after they have completed 10 paid flights. Flights by Companions flying for free, or passengers flying on tickets booked with points do not qualify. Verify you have opted in for drink coupons in your Southwest account and double check your mailing address in your account. If that all looks OK then either call Southwest or contact them via Twitter (@SouthwestAir) and request they look at your account. --TheMiddleSeat
