I agree this is annoying, but if you stay on top of it (by checking your email for the notification of the change), it can work to your benefit because you will have flexibility with re-changing, even to different days.   And I did experience this a few times recently.  My OKC-MCO nonstop got 'rebooked' to a layover flight, even though there was still a nonstop whose departure time was simply tweaked a little.   It was annoying that I was put on a layover flight, but I just went in and selected and changed to the nonstop OKC-MCO and I was back on a nonstop.   While I understand why you consider this a disadvantage, I consider it an advantage over other airlines and often hope my (long in advance) flight gets changed a little so I have the flexibility of two changes in case I need them. ... I believe they don't allow you to add a companion now because you would be able to book a companion on a flight anytime, not just during the promotion period. I don't think their systems are sophisticated enough to only let you add during that short window.  If you are worried about the flight filling up, use points to book a flight now for your companion then cancel that flight once you add them as a companion to your reservation.  (Or if flight is full, cancel first then add)  If you don't have points, you can book a fully refundable ticket now for the companion and refund it once you are able to add the companion to your reservation.  This of course does require you to float the cost until you are able to add the companion.  ... Showing this thread some love here by doing my part.  It appears they are targeting customers by area code. I got a call with the same information but for Spokane, WA. My area code is from this city but i haven't lived there in years. So somewhere they are pulling numbers and checking area codes.  The number I was called from was also (480) 931-3046. I've gotten calls from Hilton Honors before, and everyone is US based for promotions, and there is always some money you gotta put in.  Don't buy it, total scam. Good Luck yall! ... View more

Yeah, I figured there could be situations where on THEIR part they have to honor the ticket flying separately.  I’d assume it would take a lot of hoop jumping on the back end to make it legit.   i had to get off a flight early one time and made sure I bought my companion her own ticket ahead of time for the final leg.   Let’s hope I never have to endure similar complexity again. ... Just wanted to chime in here that the “remove the middle name” solution worked for me on a current trip.  When we initially checked in for the outbound segment of our trip my wife got her PreCheck but I did not.  The gate agent wasn’t able to get the issue resolved.   I opened a chat with TSA and they very quickly got back to me and indicated that my name was being incorrectly submitted for validation — what got submitted to them was “<first_name> <middle_name> <middle_name>”, and this clearly doesn’t work.   While traveling I called SWA and the rep instantly noted that my middle name needed to be removed from the ticket, that fixed the issue and my passes were issued with PreCheck status (it unfortunately didn’t help as my origin was international and MCO doesn’t have pre-check for connecting flights, but the tickets seemed valid).   Shout out to Brent at SWA for so quickly recognizing the issue.   This clearly seems like a bug in the reservation system and needs to be addressed. ... Here we are in 2024 and still having this issue. I use yahoo and get emails like the confirmation for creating this account. But won't get any confirmation emails. The SW help person I spoke with before said it was an issue with Yahoo and had me switch to gmail. But then when they merged two different rapid rewards accounts, it moved it back to Yahoo and now I'm back to not getting emails. Yes - I could swap it to gmail again but I'd prefer to keep all my flight info at one email address. ... View more

Create a RR account for your daughter.  Then for future ticket purchases that are paid with $$, purchase WGA+.  Its only like $15-$20 more.  If your daughter has to cancel, the travel credit can be transferred to you. ... View more

So this is curious... Some of the flights I've been looking at on Google Flights don't match up with the SW website. In this example, I've put one-way from SEA to MCO on 8/12. I've set both sites to sort by departure time, and the only filter I applied to Google is "Southwest only". Google is only showing 6 flights that day when SW shows 19, and the only flight on Google that matches any of the flights on SW is the one from 5:30am-7:10pm. I've stared at these monitors for 15 minutes trying to figure out where I made a mistake on the search entries and I can't find anything.
