It's actually a bit easier than that. No need to log in. You just need the confirmation number and passenger name. On the Southwest website's main page, choose "Change/Cancel" and input the info. Also, be aware that -- while it's always a good idea to cancel any flight you're not going to need -- Points bookings are exempt from the "no-show" policy. If you forget to cancel but then miss the flight, your itinerary will be canceled automatically and the points refunded to your RR account. The fees will be held as Travel Funds under the confirmation number. (If you cancel in advance, you can select "request a refund," to have them returned to the original payment method.)

Ironcally, I was on the 7 pm Midway/Love field flight last night. We delayed so that a connecting passenger could board -- and then waited a bit longer for that passenger's luggage to make it to our plane. Of course, no one connects in Dallas at 9:15 pm so our delay wasn't going to cost anyone a connection, although our plane was to turn around and fly back to Chicago. So it also was delayed. No one connets in Chicago after midnight either. So the delays affected no connections, which is why Southwest allowed the delays. The delays only affected the airliine's on time stats. We were 20 minutes late. No big deal.

I have experienced flight attendants requesting for passengers to allow those with a close connection to get off first. It always creates a bit of a mess (but it has come to my rescue more than once).
I have to imagine that asking preboarders to wait seated would create a real mess. And it would be almost impossible to track.

This would seem pretty unfortunate. I've never run into this situation. I can't imagine all opassengers for the flight would fit on one bus. Thus it would seem to make sense to me to take all a-listers out on one bus, then b-group on another bus, and then c-group on another bus, with a final bus for any late arrivers. Another rule of thumb probably should be to sit as close as possible to the bus door, so first on the bus could be first off the bus.

At roughly 2,500 air miles, it's within the range of any of Southwest's 737s (perhaps with some payload restriction on the NG aircraft). And with only six or seven flights a day on three airlines, the market doesn't appear to be saturated. The only challenge that I can see is breaking into a market dominated by Alaska (Seattle's hometown airline with an outstanding service reputation) and JetBlue (another airline with an outstanding reputation and an employee culture second only to Southwest). Fares are probably already low given the carriers serving the market. It's certainly worth a try. Maybe they could test the demand out of Paine Field.

I would take that over an August flight out of LGA with no AC any day (another airline). Unfortunately, it is a tough situation; I would rather be cold than be delayed. As for the flight attendant interaction; that sound very unlike a SW employee. As other have said, I would encourage you to store your thoughts directly with the airline.

Travel can get tough when you thrown an emergency into the mix! Sometimes, you just have to balance the cost to the need. I see it this way: 1) SW offers so much flexibility for changing flight and keeping fees away or low. If that means they have to be strict on the policies that do make them money, I’m ok with that, even if it sucks. 2) As a parent, I would just want to make it home. Period. I do understand your frustration, however. I encourage you to offer your feedback directly to SW, and I hope your child is back to healthy now!

Be aware that, unlike in the past when reps could search using the credit card number you used to book, it's now more difficult to get a lost confirmation number via a phone rep. EDITED TO ADD: I just noticed the new wording now being used in email confirmations (below, replaces what I posted above). Apparently Southwest really does not want to look up a lost confirmation number for you. This makes it very clear that it's 100% on the customer to keep track of all their confirmation numbers (and any funds associated with them).

I don’t have FaceID, but the latest version still works with your fingerprint. The short answer to the digital card is no; there isn’t one. Also, you can use your browser to save your login info (user name OR RR# and PW) so that you don’t have to type it in the app when you get logged out.

Just a note that Southwest will cancel reservations it feels are "duplicates," and refund to the original payment method. Did you happen to have mutliple flights booked for the same day? Or overlapping itineraries? Their system may have interpreted it as a duplicate booking. If that's the case, the rep should be able to rebook at your original fare. Please do come back and let us know what you learn, and how it works out.

I totally understand your concern! As a Hilton Diamond member, I always want to ensure that I will received my benefits and -- more importantly -- points for my stay. I always assume that if you don't book direct, you don't get the benefits. But I know there are exceptions (such as booking with Concur). Also, you can earn SW points for hotel bookings; I doubt you would be able to "double dip." I am making assumptions here, but I just wanted to share my thoughts.

Respectfully, I can't imagine the first point helping deplaning. Have you ever been on a plane when the FAs ask passengers to let those with tight connections get off first? It works, but it is usually difficult to have folks clear out of the way to make way for those in the back who need to get off. It would make a tense situation, and policing it would be difficult to impossible. Regarding the second point, SW already does not charge for checked bags, so unlike with other airlines, if folks are carrying on on SW, it is for convenience. Bottom line is this: I continue to be blown away with how fast SW can turn a plane. I am not sure there is any need to mess with a really effective process.

If more than one person is on the reservation (same confirmation number) you won't be able to use the app for boarding passes. Unfortunately, this continues to be a problem. --TheMiddleSeat Did this or any other comment in the thread answer your question? Purchasing EB does not guarantee any position, and there are several reasons why you may be well into the B group with EB. First of all, there are lots of A Listers. I am A List Pref, and it is common for me to be 3/4 of the way down in the A group. These folks fly a lot, so SW rightfully awards them with priority boarding. After A List Pref and the A List is EB, and there are often many folks who pay for EB. Remember that the boarding position is no the only benefit of EB. One of the best benefits is that you don't have to rush to check in at the 24 hour mark because SW holds your spot. Will you be busy at that time? EB has your back!

Another great benefit of EB to consider is this: getting check in automatically is helpful if you will be busy exactly 24 hours out from your flight? Since EB reserves you place, you don't have to be standing by to check in at the exact minute. In a meeting? Not prob...check in later. As folks have said, getting EB is good when you are flying between two big SW airports, which you are. If you are travelling alone and don't care where you sit and can check in exactly 24 hours out, you are still likely to grab a window or aisle even without EB. Good luck.

I just wanted to give a shout out to SW for the excellent response to the terrible tragedy that was flight 1380. I have been impressed by the response from the first moments after the incident. This is how you take care of your customers, and this is why my family and I will continue to be loyal customers for life. https://www.wsj.com/articles/at-southwest-airlines-the-minutes-after-disaster-struck-1524586032?tesla=y&mod=djemalertNEWS

I see both sides of this issue, so I just encourage you to consider both sides. On one hand, six seats is definitely a lot, and if there were that many folks who were travelling together, SW offers methods for them to be able to sit together (Early Bird). I personally believe that attempting to save that many seats is inconsiderate. I also recently experienced a man trying to save an entire exit row, which was frustrating. On the flip side, there are situations where there may be a legit need for someone to save a seat or two. Take my situation, being A List Preferred, I am among the first to board the plane. When my wife travels with me, they come on later in the A group or even in the B group. I am going to save a seat for her. Now, some would tell me to board with her instead of in my boarding position, but I think we can all survive my hold one seat for a couple of minutes. I prefer that SW does not have a policy on saving seats because I fly SW multiple times a month, and this is not a problem I regularly experience. I also believe in empowering employees. If SW gets overly strict on the seat thing, it will undermine the benefits of open seating and could even delay the boarding process.

Word. One additional thought. If you need to change the flight at a later time after it is booked, be sure to log into YOUR RR account and then search for that reservation using the confirmation number. I do this all the time to double check if the points price of the flight has gone down. If it does, you can rebook and get some points back!

Southwest's official Purpose is to connect People to what’s important in their lives through friendly, reliable, and low-cost air travel. My family is a perfect example of how Southwest and their People accomplish that every day!
Southwest's flexibility and affordability, along with their awesome A-List and Companion Pass programs, have always been the perfect fit for me and my wife. Lots of work travel has allowed us to have lots of fun travel, and this continues to be true now, after we’ve had our first child!
Given that all of her grandparents live in other states, our baby girl is becoming a fairly frequent flyer. Recently, while we were waiting to board a flight leaving Houston, I told baby girl all about the boarding process. While she enjoyed watching the planes move around the airfield, she really LUVs to wave at other Passengers as we make our way down the aisle during boarding. We look forward to many more trips with this little future A-Lister.
My wife and I love to share travel experiences as a family, and we have tons of LUV in our hearts for Southwest!
