Anyone know if the "travel day only" coupons will be given the same end of year expiration when and if SWA opens back up beer/wine service? Asking as a responsible and respectful traveler.

Thanks for the replies. The story had a happy ending: the person who accidentally took the wrong bag returned to the airport after the airline called them (using the contact information on the suitcase that was still at the airport). My surprise, however, is that the SWA employees were a mess, and frankly made the situation worse. It was clear that they were improvising, and I didn't think they handled it well, so I was curious if there was a protocol for this situation.

First, I am retired Air Force, flying air refueling aircraft and transport aircraft. I have dealt with in flight emergencies and opening hatches. First, "Saving seats" should not be allowed in emergency rows. Those who board with the best group numbers (ex: Business Select) should be allowed if they want one of those seats and it is open. On one flight, a male (aggressive and confrontational) passenger saved the other two seats in the emerg row for his family. The FA was there and said nothing when another tall passenger and Business Select wanted to sit there. When the other two family members came (C group), they were two elderly smaller women well into their late 70s or early 80s. That should not be allowed which is another issue for emergency egress. But: How does SW set some common sense boundaries and enforce it without fear of a lawsuit or a physical confrontation? In an emergency, things become chaotic,.. confusion and panic can set in. I have seen it on SW once when encountering severe turbulence on descent and approach (into Burbank CA). Some passengers were screaming, puking, crying and the FAs were doing their best to keep everyone calm.

If you received a C position at exactly t-24, it's most likely that your flight is a continuing leg of another connecting flight or flights. Those who have booked the connecting flight can check in t-24 for their originating flight's departure, which is earlier than when you can check in. This gives them a better position for the connecting flight than is possible for you to receive.

The TSA agent might ask him his name to compare it to the ticket. My daughter's name is Philippa, but it gets cut off at Philip on tickets. It has worried me in the past that the TSA agent might ask why my daughter isn't a boy, but it has never been a problem.

@20477875843 It appears that damaged luggage seems to be the new attack of the week on SWA, so be it. I'm with the others, sorry for the loss of beloved baggage. But as I put ON THE OTHER POST about damaged baggage: I'm not going to dismiss you for using your money to buy whatever you want, good on you. But since the beginning of time (and a commercial of a gorilla just throwing bags onto a plane) it's known that accepting a plane ticket has many risks, one being damaged luggage should you check it, it's a no-brainer. The relief to that is that you can make a claim against the airlines and get reimbursed, however, it may be a drawn-out process. I will just give you my direction on the luggage issues since I care not about what people think of my luggage and don't place travel luggage on a fashion statement level. I buy a 10-15 dollar decent bag from goodwill. It helps out the Goodwill foundation which employees people that might not otherwise get a job. The bag normally lasts about 2-3 years and I'm really worry-free about if it ever becomes damaged. And since I shop often at Goodwill or other stores of this nature that benefit our Veterans, I'm in there often and not a trip just to buy luggage.

@gsking wrote: No ride share to be found. Tell me about it, that was my biggest fear with my Nashville trip because my hotel was about 20 miles from the airport, and the festival I attended another 10 miles from there. Uber was completely useless, but thank God Lyft had rides available - even at midnight! It was such a relief. I had real concerns I was going to be stranded or miss my flight going home if I couldn't find a ride. Or pay enormous amounts for a taxi. --Jessica

If you are pre-boarding, you are allowed to have one person pre-board with you. I saw this enforced a couple of weeks ago. Someone was pre-boarding in a wheelchair, and they had like 6 people who tried to pre-board with them. They got really upset when they were told no. "Never heard of such a thing", they said. However, last week, I saw an elderly lady pre-board with a child of maybe 3 or so on her lap with what I presume to be the child's mother, and the gate agent simply asked if was her grandson and smiled. It is a matter of just what is reasonable. If your concern is just getting three seats together, and you want to pre-board because the child is autistic, and you want to get settled in with her, just ask. That won't be a problem, and, again, gate agents will be reasonable if you are. Remember that the child will have to wear a mask on the plane. If they ask, make sure you say they can. Do not be ambiguous or say anything other than a firm yes.

It's about a two hour flight, so it's not a long flight. It's nonstop too. I will definitely continue to practice with her. I really hope she gets to wear it for at least the boarding, and then during the flight I can give her snacks in between so it doesn't feel as long. I've heard from others the same thing - they are really strict during boarding and take off. My intention is to have her try it out on the way to our destination as well. It will be good practice, and a good predictor of how she will react on the way back. Thanks!!

I agree with other responses, no body shares a normal flight that's on time with good service. When I fly the only things I say to flight attendants are, some type of greeting like "Hello" or "Good Morning," then when they ask what I want to drink I'll say what I would like than say thank you when they hand it to me then I say thank you again when I get off the plane. Of course now, I also wear my mask when I fly and don't complain. With this practice, I've never had problems with flight attendants.

They would let her on,said she was to intoxicated...that she could t walk a straight line. We had only been in the airport for one hour, there was no way that she could have been. The plane was also full so I had to get off the plane, because I wasn’t leaving her. But I’m very furious with SW. security came over because I was so upset. We needed to get home. Security didn’t even think she was but they don’t have any control over the flights. But I felt they had someone they needed to get on the plane. Very frustrating. I always fly SW but not sure if I will again. And sorry this happened to you. Sorry to hear of your bad experience. Shoes and shirts are considered to be normal social etiquette; face masks, on the other hand, are medical devices. That's why Southwest has no authority to demand that we customers smother ourselves with those medical devices as no one at Southwest is licensed to practice medicine. Not to mention, even practicing physicians cannot DEMAND that their clients wear face masks; they can at best prescribe them. If you disagree with the fact that a face mask is a medical device, then take it up with the FDA.

That $43 discount would have vanished had you checked one bag, let alone two. That's my favorite part. I travel a lot between two houses, or with scuba gear. Carrying full (or empty) suitcases free is invaluable for me. And the last time I tried to change a flight on another airline....I said never again.

In the last few years, didn't Southwest announce that it would no longer overbook flights? I thought I read somewhere that they might need the seats for employees to reposition them due to unforeseen circumstances.
