Hello, At this time travel funds can only be used by the person named on the ticket, regardless of who purchased it: https://www.southwest.com/travel-funds/ A Southwest LUV voucher, which is not the same as travel funds, can be used by anyone. What some people do is wait for their travel funds to expire, and then contact Southwest and ask for them to transfer the travel funds to a LUV voucher. This can be done on a case by case basis and Southwest charges $100 for the service, so it is up to you if you think it is worth it based on your travel fund value. --Jessica

Welcome to 2021! I am assuming you missed all the flight chaos of the past year due to the worldwide pandemic. It's been an ongoing thing for over a year now. I've had more flight changes than I can count due to fluctuating demand. --Jessica

It happens that way sometimes. Wait a few days. If it does not change, contact SW and remind it that you are due a refund.

Can I just say this for those doing all the wait on the phone. It's been posted over and over that a quicker solution may be through a tweet, email, or whatever, not the phone. As soon as flight changes happen, it's not just happening to you, but hundreds, if not thousands who are trying to get on the phone at the same time, myself included. I have one perk, as an A list I get to press 1, and only wait 25-30 minutes, (which yes, is still frustrating.) I hope you got your issue resolved and have an outstanding trip. Since I've got at least 6 future trips in my upcoming flight activity, I get an email about every 3 days of this change or that. Some are only 5 mins and some hours. I've just come to expect it until we are all through this.

@Everyone..I've been flying for many years and have found there is no temperature that will please everyone. I've even found as I've aged that planes just seem to be colder? But even before that, it's always been protocol for me to just carry on with me a light jacket, that has pretty much solved the issue. And at times, saved me at my destination where I was unprepared for the drop in temperature while I was there.

@MarianR You have your answer in the previous posts. I always grab some type of snack or drink before boarding just so that I can get a few small moments of breathing air without a mask. Even I admit, (as a well-known mask supporter) that several hours of a mask nonstop can be overwhelming. So take snacks on and enjoy.

@AngryCovidIssue wrote: No one has said anything to me that felt like they cared, and no one has offered me anything reasonable. I'm sorry about your experience, but several things are not adding up here. If you purchased tickets in January 2020 for a July 2020 trip, and you cancelled the trip I assume sometime between March 2020 and July 2020, your travel funds would have had an expiration of September 2022. For a period of time in 2020 (from March - September) Southwest extended travel fund expiration all the way out to 2022 if you cancelled your flight within that time period. Despite that, it sounds like you rebooked using your credit for a December 2020 flight which, if I'm not mistaken, resets the 2022 expiration and goes back to the 1 year expiration. I don't know what "cut our credit in half" means, and I'm not sure how your funds got extended as you claim, unless your travel funds expired and were reissued as a voucher good for 6 months, and they would have charged $100 per travel fund to do this. Still, I can't determine how / when your funds ever expired. If you used your September 2022 travel funds to rebook for the December flight, let's say you did this in May 2020, and you cancelled after September 2020, wouldn't the funds expire in May 2021 (essentially this month)? It's not adding up for me ... --Jessica

I've taken several LAS-AUS flights that leave at 8pm arrive after midnight and many times they have been 90-100% full. In March i took a LAS-AUS flight that left at 7:20pm arriving at midnight and it was 173 of 175 plus a few lap children. I take a lot of late flights from Florida as well and they are mostly full.

It's possible Southwest may add this route in the future - you never know! If you'd like to suggest it to them, you can use the Contact Us link at the bottom of the page and make the recommendation. --Jessica

Hello, In the case of travel funds, when you cancel a flight travel funds are valid from one year of the date of booking, not one year from the date you are going to fly. So booking in May 2020 and having the funds expire one year later in May 2021 is valid. Secondly, if Southwest actually cancelled your flight, did not rebook you on a different flight, and you did not cancel the flight yourself, it's possible that you could get a refund, although travel credit is still generally the first option they give you. You would have to contact Southwest via the Contact Us links below (in my opinion, social media direct messages on Facebook / Twitter have the fastest response) and explain your situation, and see what they have to say about refunding a flight that they cancelled on you. Lastly, travel funds can be extended an additional six months by contacting Southwest after they expire, and Southwest will give you a voucher for your travel funds, but they charge a $100 fee for this and it's on a case by case basis. It may be worth it if your travel fund is a decent sum. --Jessica

It ruined my evening, I get no explanation other than flights can be rescheduled, and the options to choose from are awful. I was on hold for 45 min. with no answer or help. I am forced to change airlines. Since Dec 2020, flights have been full on SW, middle seats too. Covid is no longer an excuse. I would reach out on Facebook or Twitter it will be quicker than waiting on the phone.

I'm fairly certain it's the time of actual boarding and departure. The intent is to be able to offer the seat for standard, which floats with time of departure. @Quidam wrote: It was a "Wanna Get Away" fare, but I wasn't expecting a refund. I just wanted to have the price of the tickets converted to travel funds. @Dan1958 I'm guessing that the refund is based upon the difference in fares between flying to Fort Lauderdale and flying to Detroit. Ticket prices don't always make sense.

Points(dot) com is a 3rd party company, contracted by Southwest to manage point sales. They are in business to make money. I would suspect that many Rapid Rewards members are now sitting on a larger than normal cache of points, as earnings likely continued over the past year+, but redemptions drastically declined. Resulting in a lot less point purchases being made. That's why we're seeing multiple point sales offers now, including the subscription service. Southwest routinely devalues RR points every 2-3 years. This latest devaluation was actually overdue, likely held back until the pandemic showed signs of ending.

southwest utilizes open seating - thus there is no seat selection. Details are here: https://community.southwest.com/t5/Knowledge-Base/Where-is-my-seat-onboard/ta-p/100790 The best way to get a a good boarding position is to purchase Early Bird Check In. EBCI boarding positions are allocated. 36 hours before flight time - first EBCI bought on the flight gets the first one. The last person to buy one gets the last one. those that do not buy EBCI can check in starting 24 Hours before your flight time. Your boarding position is set at the time of check in. The earliest check ins get the best boarding positions thus it is best to check in EXACTLY 24 hours before flight time

First, keep in mind that we're other customers here, trying to help. None of us are Southwest employees. What is the expiration date of the $50 travel fund? Unfortunately, cancelling on September 17, 2020 would not have extended your funds through 2022. Was the booking for multiple people? If so, each person would have their portion of the fund as a credit in their individual account. I'd suggest that your best bet to get an explanation of what happened would be to reach out to Southwest Customer Relations. Hopefully they can explain it to you. Contact Customer Relations

@italipower wrote: Has anyone started a class action lawsuit for the loss of point value on coerced travel fund transfer to points? The points were greatly diminished in value recently and i have lost a good deal in travel equity due to this. Would someone on this board consider starting a suit? Not sure about coerced exactly, I had the option but was planning on flying to I kept my travel funds. I've only got $79 left of those by now. So although I don't think the idea would work, I'm not in your class anyway if it did go forward. Why would you want someone else to do it? Besides the lawyers who make out like bandits the members of the class will end up getting $10 each or a couple of drink coupons (drinks being served again when this is settled five years from now) but the initiator is the only member of the class that gets a penalty settlement. But personally I think it would be a waste of time.

@mejohnso, BNA is my home airport, and it has been going through quite the overhaul over the past few years. I'll say this: the food options used to be pretty lackluster, and the airport secured a new vendor to work with local Nashville eateries to expand the airport dining selections. That remains a work in progress, so there are some new places today, but in the future, it will be pretty awesome! Also that means that most places have been closed either due to the pandemic or due to construction (BN, Auntie Anne's, pizza, etc. -- all closed). Glad you got to experience the new terminal D as well -- it is beautiful! But if you want to eat, you do have to venture to other parts of the airport, at least for now. You can get coffee and beef there, but that is about it. Today, your best bets are 400 Degrees, serving Nashville hot chicken, and Barista Parlor, serving coffee and sandwiches and pastries. 8th and Roast is good for coffee, and there are a few brewery options as well if you want a beer. Beyond that, we wait for what is to be a much more diverse selection in the future. Please come back and visit! Thanks for the tags, @TheMiddleSeat @ksbrg @bec102896!

@Silveamarie1984 While I won't go out on the limb and say all FA that works for SWA is diligent about making customers comfortable and happy, I do so many that are. Hellos when you board, smiles and assisting. (This is partially for the individual that stated that she saw 2 just taking in the back) What you experienced is something that was a bit out of the ordinary, but obviously happened. I have a son-in-law that we have to purchase the extra seat card for when he flies, but we have also done the upgrade to the early board to help him get on first. I just not sure why a conversation didn't happen prior to the FA requested the girls to move. As suggested, send your complaint to customer relations and hopefully, the topic will be addressed to the FA what a more suitable protocol might be in the same situation.
