@brendabean The answer to your question was in her answer! "Thanks for reaching out, @brendabean, at this time, there are no changes to Southwest’s current policy. Yesterday's announcement is in regard to the DOT allowing airlines to make changes to their policies in early January 2021. If any changes are made to Southwest’s policies, we will be sure to communicate details to our Customers." Nicole isn't promising anything, and can't predict what those that control the decision on this issue will do. She is just stating for RIGHT NOW, nothing has changed. Since you're talking over 3 months from now when you travel, yes, it could change, but you should be prepared for that scenario NOW, to be able to make a seamless adjustment.

@jksobonya @Taz052362 My suggestion is that you get that communication to SWA soon. Here is what I've found, notice the next scheduled release date: We are currently accepting air reservations through April 11, 2021. On December 10, 2020, we will open our schedule for sale through August 16, 2021. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently. Here is that link. https://www.southwest.com/air/flight-schedules/

@gsking I'm on board with you on this. I've had issues with trying to get my 600 points for a rental by going through SWA. (Before I joined this discussion/forum board) They tell you to go to the rental car company, who at some point tells you to go through SWA. It's a run around that becomes frustrating. More times than not, I've just let it go and do join the car companies rewards program, (for the pass up going to the counter option) and get much lower rates more often than not. And for those hoping to bump points for the companion pass, know that when they say it might take up to 7-9 weeks to see those points, they aren't kidding. So at this point, don't do it for that purpose. Cheers to everyone and happy holiday.

sorry to hear of this, as shown, you missed the deadline. I know that when the opportunity to do this was available, you could have possibly still considered going as nobody knew this pandemic was going to get worse. Yes, that is a good amount of money, but hopefully, things work out for you.

For those of you who are considering using the SWA Vacations package, I'm just suggesting that you read the many threads and discussions about those that have had issues with the SWA partner. In advance know that it's not SWA you are booking with, but a partner. I'm going to also admit, I've never booked with the partner based on all the posts on this of issues with that company and not getting refunds or cancellation consideration. I'm sure there are those that have had no issues, and if anyone wants to post those experiences, please do.

Thanks for posting this. I guess nothing is sacred anymore and just another reminder to change my password every year. I've gotten into the habit of every Jan 1 I change my password on everything. It's the same password for everything, (YES, I know this is stupid) but working on a new system for this year. Same password with the final part being related to the company or whatever the password is for. Anyway, thanks for reminding us to be careful, and hope all ends up well for you.

@MiltonConnor I'm always curious why people join a discussion forum after the fact? Don't get jumpy, I did the same thing. Had you been a part of this discussion board you would have had access to, dare I say, hundreds of folks displeased with the SWA vacation partner. Just know, it's the partner, not SWA, that controls refunding or not. (I'm mostly going by what I have read, I will never use the service) Best to go with another company in the future, and still curious about how many dissatisfied customers that SWA still uses this company.

@chgoflyer I don't think anybody has stated that SWA "is" relaxing the mask policy, but hoping that they don't relax it, as I'm sure you might agree. IMO, the person who started the thread is just expressing that he hopes they don't. I agree with you, the science does show promise in regard to the spread of disease on airplanes, and I'm flying in December, so it's not keeping me off a plane. Sorry that us ranting crazy folks still have a concern on the mask policy. See you in the air.

@BigKurt If your name/tag/handle images you in real life, then you would be "big/large/bigger than that average passenger, specifically a "woman." Not that I would have been belligerent, but I would, and have done so, expressed my frustration with people who don't comply. I've had people, (when I fly alone I always get the window seat) ask me if that aisle seat is taken, I ALWAYS reply, not it's not if you're going to keep your mask on. Straight Up. And I'm about 5'8 160. There are nicer ways to do it, (which is what I would have to do if my wife was flying with me) but I just set the tone. It's going to be interesting once Dec 1st rolls around and the middle seat is free game.

Agree, the majority, not the minority, are on your side. I've sent a few comments to the customer service link and expressed that I feel that masks should still be mandated 2-3 months past the distribution of the vaccine. Just as you note, there is also still that population that will refuse to get the vaccine. I also think the proactive approach of cleaning the airplanes as they do. This will be quite a task as I also assume that after the first of the year that many of the flights will start to come back in anticipation of the vaccine.

@jksobonya Let me express that I'm all for giving some allowances to those of a younger age, not to go without a mask, maybe an allowance of letting them take them off for a bit of time and put them back on..........But possibly have them at least have a shield on. With that said, I've looked for data and research to your argument and even talked to my group of friends I recreate with that are predominately in the medical field. I will quote the one that works with infectious diseases, "A virus doesn't know the age of the carrier, it's only goal is survival. Therefore a virus is an equal opportunity infection, it's won't discriminate from going from a child to an adult, child to child, or adult to child."

As always, DFW gives good advice. Here would be my last suggestion. I know everybody hates the back of the plane, but I would suggest sitting back there close to the restroom. The reason being, if your asthmatic child needs to do so, they can go into the restroom for a min and take their mask off and just breath normally. I'd also suggest this, maybe purchase a face shield, that way they can do like I do, I just pull my mask out and away from my face about every 10 min or so for 2/3 breaths and then let it return to my face. What I would suspect, (at least I'm comfortable with this) if somebody did it more often but still had a shield on, I feel safe in that.

Well, I'd like for you to just post "several" links that defend this argument. As for your all, I google this topic and see the 1st 2 threads already dispute this.

@AvKrayez If you're talking about Dallas Love Field, I've flown out of there in Sept, Oct, and Nov. No temperature checks at all for my SWA flights. Also connecting flight via Houston didn't do temp checks either. I'm just posting this to give my experience. I'm all for temperature checks, but from what I hear, it's not a priority for many airports and airlines.

My Bundle reply: Let's start with the obvious, laptops, headphones, IPads, and/or the majority of "electrical items that are reasonably small and light enough to go on the seated plane area with you. I personally thought this was a no brainer just on the damage element alone. Not just SWA, but any airlines with how I sit in the plane by the window and watch the bag handlers throw without any regard for contents the bags they are putting on and getting off a plane. I travel with both a laptop and an IPAD in my carry-on bag, done! No damage or theft of them in over 10 years of owning both of them. Now to address that, SWA, is in total possession of them, that I can't answer for sure, but I think if I would do the research I could find that every airline in the WORLD has had items stolen from passengers baggage, (thus how I started out this thread) If your irritation is with the response you got, then just state that and address it to the customer complaint process that is also mentioned. I personally would love to see you contact your local TV station and report back to us how well that went. I'm not saying you won't get any traction, I just know if I was a newscast person I would scratch my head thinking, so what is it you want to accomplish contacting me. If this was a news story, I'd be covering it every day from every airline. YES, theft happens, in all industries, not just the airline industry. I appreciate that you spent your hard-earned money, but I doubt SWA just blows this off, EVEN THOUGH, as also been stated, you hand their responsibility off when you check that bag. Bless you, and I hope you have a better holiday in the upcoming future.

@loneowl Blake answered your post precisely. Sadly, YOU missed the deadline, and the fault lies on your lap. With that said, I'm not sympathetic to your issue, as I have flights in DEC as well. Upfront, this is a joke, but you could put your wife in the middle and you are not sitting next to anyone, or take a friend, and all 3 of you would be sure to make each other feel safer. Even without having the opportunity to fly, i hope you XMAS holiday is a great one.

69.....hummm, maybe it's the ying and yang of the cyberspace points dark hole on SWA. I have no idea what that means. With that said, I've had points, and price, change just like that because others were booking and for whatever reason an update of the system at that same time. I never toggle back and forth anymore, just buy it one way and bank it.

I've thought it over many times about writing this, but, here goes. It has also been determined that the further to the back of the plane to better the chance to survive a crash. But like you, I like that seat too. Unfortunately for me, my wife doesn't, so I'm usually in the first 10 rows. When I fly alone, I snag that seat for the leg room. May now be getting it for the fact one row only has 2 seats.

If I'm correct, the crashes related to the 737 Max were on foreign flights, not domestic flights. Not being a pilot or understanding aviation at all, those crashes could have had as much to do with a pilot error or different standards of safety and maintenance. Regardless, I'm saddened by the loss of the life of anyone. I'm putting my faith in SWA and its leaders not to place me, nor anyone else, in intentional harm's way. With that said, it will be a bit before I will fly on a 737 Max, and as I've expressed before, I'm sure the results will be positive. Flying in itself causes anxiety regardless, and I will need that buffer period to be comfortable. For me, I'm sure that now many of my non-stop destinations will become available again with more planes in the fleet to get me there.

And there are some of us that just understand there are bugs in the system. I'm not saying I'm not unhappy about it, as it does pertain to me as an A-Lister with a Companion Pass. I've just put it to sleep. I'm respecting your right to be upset, so be it. The thing is, at least for me, I've had an on-call SWA operator say that the system needed to be tweaked and that she felt that in time that could/would be addressed. But why aren't you seeing an outcry of this issue on other airlines. BOOOOOM, because SWA is the only airlines that offers this.
