So the 64,000 points i earned this year, i could use those points for purchases and still have “64,000” on my companion pass points? So they dont erase at all?
That is correct
They only would erase on 1/1/2023 if you do not earn CP in 2022.
The qualifying points for all categories erase 1/1/2023 no matter if you earned that level or not. This doesn't affect your Rapid Rewards points balance that you can use any time.

@sandybeachs1981 To each their own, but you said you were told, (however it was, polite, rude, aggressive) in my mind that is irrelevant, I (and I hope the majority of people) would have turned around and taken it back and been on the phone with SWA what had "honest mistake" happened, and about when you ETA would be, no matter what time of the night it was.
Segway into your comment, SWA didn't take into consideration......well maybe you weren't either by not wanting to get the valuables and maybe needed content of the person's bag you mistakenly took. (Meds, extra money, etc.) You then were appalled by being asked to return them. (I'm not going to address at all the demeanor of how anyone addressed each other) Also, maybe that is the protocol, if someone doesn't want to return somebody else property immediately, the police are called.
I can only bet you are honest at heart, but you wanted a more favorable solution to your benefit that didn't happen. I can't say your post has gone for not, I will forever going forward double-take the name on the bag before I pick it up...oh, and which is why I have the most outrageous bag already that there really isn't another like it.

good advice - thanks! in this case we each had separate bookings just in case already...
but the best news is the email did arrive - companion pass is now in effect - we cancelled their flight & rebooked them as my companion!
hoping to get a lot of use out of it - because we were fortunate enough to get companion pass at end of 2019 & all of 2020 and well we all know what happened and DIDN'T GET TO USE IT A SINGLE TIME!
we plan to make up for that this time!
Don't forget to use the companions funds before they expire. You can use the funds to pay the government tax (for the $5.60 fee each way or higher for international flights)

I've learned to NEVER SAY NEVER. But you've been provided with data on the "unlikelihood" of that happening. The crash recently is tragic, and I'm sure that as soon as it happened that all pilots and airlines went into, "let's get serious again mode," and are checking planes left and right. I flew this past Sunday where we were delayed for over 1 and 1/2 hours be fix a malfunction of a door. Let's just hope these inspections contiune. Flying is still safer than driving.

I'm trying to understand your situation, (even though I can't help) I've had my bag not show u and then gone to the person on duty at the site I landed. They clicked on my checked bag stub and knew exactly where it was, and when it would probably arrive. (Their mistake and I got a voucher) But they knew where it was. Did you not show your checked bag stub to someone for them to scan? I do hope you find your bag, just be prepared for the fact that not everybody is honest and turned it in.

"In order to provide a top-notch WiFi experience, we prohibit access to certain high-bandwidth applications and websites, including NetFlix, HBO GO, and telephony applications (VoIP.)"
I'm going to say that in today's world, there are going to be those of us left behind with the technology curve. It doesn't matter if it's by purpose or lack of IQ, you should always consider providing all forms of wording and language so we knuckleheads of the world really understand what you're saying.
Let me say, your reply does merit it being a solution. But one of the focus topics was ZOOM, a simple and common word even this dummy knows. But you put down telephony applications (VoIP) I had no idea what that means until another post spelled it out...."you're on ZOOM, which is still a VoIP."
I'm not knocking you, I'm just letting you know some of us still need it explained like we are two year olds. Sorry, and great answer. Hopefully better bandwidth or whatever to allow for these types of access or commonplace. NO, not at the expense of the rest of the users on flight.

My gosh, wear a mask if you want to wear a mask and dont wear one if you dont! Its a personal choice. And if you choose to wear a mask for the love of God wear an N95 that hasnt been used before and that properly fits your face; otherwise its theater. We all know this.

Right. That's why I said it doesn't help with full flights.
But if it's an empty flight, they will give you the seat... then you can add the companion.

The transmission of virus on flights...well that's a whole thread unto itself. I'm sure the chances are > 0, but less likely overall than many other enclosed spaces might present.
But anyway, regarding the mandates everyone is missing one of the points that the mandate is meant to prevent the spread overall. An infected or contagious traveler - even if they don't cause anyone else on the plane to become ill, would still be bringing the virus to wherever they travel and presumably more favorable conditions once the passenger left the plane.
So for the sake of argument that risk of transmission on a flight is lower (I think it is, we talked about that already), and is obviously higher in other environments, then the mandate still has the effect of lessening overall rate of spread wherever the travelers are going. If one city is a hotspot and only vaccinated passengers fly from that hotspot, that would slow the spread overall between regions.
It's hard to say though, people move around through many other methods as well, I'm not sure about travel restrictions really doing too much other than slowing things down a little.

I understand that people are new to SWA point system every year, but we do see this question every single year and it's too hard to go back to a year ago and cut and paste. There are all good answers on here, BUT, all are also subject to when the route you chose wants to post points. I've stayed at hotels and didn't get my SW points from them for months, while others were within a week. So that is hit or miss. Same with dining, usually weeks, and shopping can take up to weeks as well. At this point, depending on your billing cycle of the credit card, that may have passed and any points you get won't be posted until Jan. I tried to reach the AList preferred. At the start of Dec I needed less than 10,000 points and spent and spent on the credit card, but it wasn't enough and I fell short, even though I got 14K points from the credit card this month, not enough AList preferred points. So I look at it as a lesson learned, maybe other than spending for premium hotels for the next week, in which you would be staying every night, you might just chalk it up to a learning experience.

When I read the title my jaw dropped! But now that I read it I understand what you're asking about. You're asking will a learner's permit act as a form of ID to fly, not "Can you fly?" You have been given the information you need. I'm just wondering why over the age of 16 you have never gotten a photo ID card as this world we live in nowadays pretty much requires it in some form. I know I'm answering this late, but I hope you got on your flight somehow. I've never gone to the link to see what ID's work, but I'm also thinking you would have a school ID?

Here are the Southwest Gift Card Terms and Conditions:
https://www.southwest.com/html/air/products/gift-card-terms-and-conditions.html
Some key points (see what I did there ;)) --
A Southwest gift card can be used for Passenger travel only on Southwest Airlines, excluding Southwest Airlines group tickets.
A Southwest gift card may only be redeemed at southwest.com, on the Southwest Airlines Mobile Apps and Mobile Website (only for initial flight booking), by calling Southwest Airlines at 1-800-435-9792 (1-800 I FLY SWA), or at Southwest Airlines ticket counter locations.
A Southwest gift card is not valid for the purchase of Southwest Airlines Vacation Packages, cargo, hotel, rental car, Southwest Airlines merchandise, Southwest Airlines group tickets, EarlyBird Check-In, oversized and excess baggage fees, upgraded boarding at the airport, Pet Fare, unaccompanied minor service charge, additional Southwest gift cards, or inflight purchases. Sales tax, security fees, and passenger facilities charges may be paid for with a Southwest gift card.
Ironically, bullet #3 does not say anything about purchasing points, however, bullet #1 says that gift cards can only be used for passenger travel, so it would seem that gift cards cannot be used to purchase points.

How do you go about "buying" a voucher with your expired/expiring travel funds? Do you have to call? My son has some from cancelled flights due to hospitalizations in 2020 and of course we have not been able to travel with Covid either... don't want to lose $250+ in funds if I can avoid it somehow. Thanks for your help!

I do have A-List now which is great but the point is the extremely targeted exclusion for those that upgrade. It doesn’t make sense in my book when you allow unlimited party members to board with A-List and A-List Preferred. It’s also much more difficult to obtain the A-List status given the eligible point rules. That’s why I upgrade as often as I do. I agree that the difficulty in obtaining that status does make it ‘special’ and worthy of specific perks but I don’t believe it merits penalizing the specific few that upgrade to BS and have a CP traveling. Many of us secure and maintain that A-List status by traveling with BS tickets and in turn are frustrated doing so. Even if I am paying the higher fare primarily for the points, why should I have to give up the other benefits after already earning the elite status of a CP holder?

I have to admit that I am confused.. You may need a birth certificate for lap children (those under the age of 2), but for no others. Someone anywhere near that young would never be forced to sit alone. Please explain... As far as the mask incident goes, mask wearing by EVERYONE age 2 and older is required by federal law. EVERY airline enforces that law. You may not like it, BUT IT IS THE LAW. As said several times up thread, this is a customer forum, and the airline will not resolve specific customer complaints here.
