In my experience, if passenger asks either a gate agent or a representative at the check-in counter before taking the first flight, they would reroute the passenger if that's an option. Some originating cities might not have another route available. Curious if others here can share their experiences.

Make the new reservation online. After selecting your flights find the "Do you want to apply travel funds?" section of the checkout screen. Put in the confirmation number and passenger name of the canceled reservation and apply. If the same passenger is named on the new flight, the credit will be applied.

Chase Sapphire Preferred points don't have any connection to the Companion Pass. Southwest credit cards are the only ones that generate CP qualifying points.

Baggage counters open at least two hours before the first flight of the day (Southwest's policy is to allow checked bags up to three hours before a flight). If you're not on the first flight and not planning on getting to the airport six hours early you'll be fine.

I don't know about the HOU flights, but here is some info about the switch from MCO to FLL Beautiful Aruba also gets some attention in March, when we shift our Aruba-Orlando nonstop to our digs in the new Ft. Lauderdale International Terminal! The new Aruba-Ft. Lauderdale daily roundtrip will not only offer South Florida a new way to get to the Netherland Antilles, it offers a consolidated, single-terminal international experience for Southwest Customers from elsewhere in the U.S. And Southwest is growing our international footprint from Ft. Lauderdale quickly—Aruba will be the 10th international destination served from this gateway. Aruba also has a PreClear set up thanks to the U.S. Customs and Border Protection so it makes connecting back in the states a breeze since you arrive as if you’re a domestic traveler.

I searched for a one way flight LGA-LAX and in the search results it shows several flights a day route through MDW. If you want complete control over it just book separate reservations, LGA-MDW and MDW-LAX.

Yes. Using the confirmation number from the canceled flight, you can apply the price paid towards another flight later on. You must complete travel within one year of the purchase date of the reservation you canceled. If you purchased the EarlyBird Check-In option you are better off changing (not canceling) the reservation. Change it to a date far in the future for a similarly priced flight (any flight will do), then change it again once you know your plans. If you cancel a flight with EarlyBird you lose the price paid for EarlyBird. Best wishes to your family

Address does not matter, only your name is important. Additionally, if you are flying internationally your whole driver's license is irrelevant, your passport is what matters.

Holiday season flights definetly fill up fast and have a limited number of Wanna Get Away fares. Southwest does occasionally make lower fare buckets available again closer to the date, but it's not likely considering demand for flights is extremely high now and they can sell tickets at higher fares. Sadly, you might be out of luck on those dates, but never hurts to keep checking.

https://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/faqs.html?topic=earlybird_checkin Is EarlyBird Check-In refundable? All EarlyBird Check-In purchases are nonrefundable. Customers who cancel their flight will forfeit the previously purchased EarlyBird Check-In option for that particular flight. In the event that a flight is cancelled by Southwest, the EarlyBird Check-In purchased for the cancelled flight will be refunded.

With those dimensions you should be ok. I've checked boxes before without any problem, you'll be asked what's in the box and must sign a damage waiver. Make sure you print your contact info with a marker on at least two sides of each box. FYI here's the size and weight limitations: Maximum weight is 50 pounds and maximum size is 62 inches (length + width + height) per check piece of luggage. Overweight items from 51 to 100 pounds and oversized items in excess of 62 inches but not more than 80 inches will be accepted for an overweight and oversize baggage fee of $75 per item.

You're fine if you put them in your checked baggage. Not so sure about carrying them on. I wouldn't take their risk trying to carry them on.

You shouldn't have any problem getting an escort pass at the full service check-in counter. If it were me, I would just say that you're picking up a young traveler rather than trying to explain the layover situation which might just complicate things. Be prepared and have information about the flight he is arriving on in case they ask you.

Southwest's group travel program allows name changes up to 72 hours prior to departure, but according to the online info you need a minimum of 10 people. Details can be found here: https://www.southwest.com/html/air/business-groups/group-travel.html It might be worth calling the group reservations number listed on the page to see if there is any flexibility in the number of passengers.

Yes. "An adult traveling with a child six years old or younger may board during Family Boarding, which occurs after the “A” group has boarded and before the “B” group begins boarding. If the child and the adult are both holding an “A” boarding pass, they should board in their assigned boarding position." Keep in mind it's one adult per child, your entire group of 8 can't board in family boarding unless you have multiple children. More info about boarding can be found here: https://www.southwest.com/html/generated/help/faqs/boarding_the_plane_faq.html Enjoy your trip!
