If you are not checking any baggage you don't actually need identification to fly domestically. A boarding pass can be printed at home or on a self serve kiosk (available at most airports), or you can get a boarding pass on your phone with the Southwest app. At the TSA security screening area you will need to go through an additional level of questioning. More information about that and a list of acceptable forms of identification can be found here: https://www.tsa.gov/blog/2016/03/03/asktsa-travel-tips-over-140-characters-can-i-fly-without-id-what-about-real-id If you need to check a bag you will need to present identification at the check-in counter.

Hmm, what's worse? Offering the ability to make changes and use credit later as long as you keep track of it and are occasionally inconvenienced by not being able to use the mobile app OR not being able to make changes without significant penalties and fees? Could the current situation be improved? Yes, but I also appreciate how good it currently is.

@chgoflyer I'm hoping he'll keep complaining and go to another airline where he can complain about something else. I certainly wouldn't want him sitting next to me, regardless if I was saving the seat or not. Usually when I fly I try to figure out if I can buy a drink for anyone around me (sooo many drink coupons to use). He seems more intent on upsetting as many people as possible. Different strokes for different folks.

Wow, why such a low rating? The Google Play store (Android) has the app at a still meager 3.9, but that's significantly better than 1.5. I've never used the IOS app, is it that much different?

I can't think of a reason you wouldn't be able to carry them on. Are they particularly sharp and could be perceived as being dangerous? I would suggest putting them in a zip lock bag just in case one decided to explode. Pens and other containers can do funny things when the air pressure changes. Other than that, you should be good to go. Have a good trip!

I'm not Lindsey, but the answer is yes. You seem to know this based on your previous posts: "Ignore the seat savers claim and just sit wherever you want to. If there is not a person in the seat, its open." Suggesting crew should be disciplined because they don't want to get in the middle of your little power struggle is a bit much.

I totally agree it would be nice if they did provide the overnight layover option. Maybe it's something we'll see later when they start utilizing new features in the new reservation system. We may also see red eye flights which could let you connect with a morning flight to international destinations. Red eyes were not allowed in the old reservation system, but are allowed now.

Your initial thinking about the flight not making the connection is correct. Southwest won't show you a connection that's not on the same day as you mentioned other airlines will do. Sadly, many international flights with connections from the west coast will require an overnight layover and two separate reservations, one for the first leg, and another for the second leg.

From a purely ascetic perspective, I think they look good. Professional without being stuffy or screaming "boring uniform". Casual, friendly, and approachable, just like Southwest as a company. I haven't asked any employees for their thoughts. I don't expect the livery to change anytime soon after having just changed rather recently.

Simply put, sit anywhere you want. Can someone say they are saving a seat? Yes. Can you sit in the "saved" seat if you really want to? Yes. Probably not the best way to make friends though. Flight crew will typically stay out of the discussion and just ask you to be an adult and find a seat. Many many discussions have been had about this.

You should be fine carrying both a backpack and a skateboard onto the plane. Here's Southwest's official policy regarding skateboards: Skateboard, may be substituted for a carryon or a checked bag. If the skateboard fits under the seat, it does not need to be in a bag or covered, but it does have to be stowed with the wheels up so that it doesn't roll. If stowed in an overhead bin, a skateboard must be stowed with the wheels up and needs to be in a bag or have the wheels covered (trash bag is acceptable) so as not to damage other articles. Many people carry on much more/bigger items so I don't foresee any problems for you. You should probably bag it as mentioned.

No, pets must be contained. Here is Southwest's policy: Southwest Airlines allows small vaccinated domestic cats and dogs to travel with you in-cabin under the seat in front of you. All pets must be carried in an appropriate carrier. The whole policy and more details about approved containers can be found at https://www.southwest.com/pets/

If it will fit in the overhead storage bin (my guess is that it would), then you can take it on as carryon. If the flight was super full and no overheard space was available or for some other reason it needed to be gate checked, it would only be set out for pick up at your final destination. I could see someone accidentally taking the wrong suitcase (many do look alike), but don't forsee a problem of someone taking your booster seat before you got off the plane to get it at your final destination.

When you are making your next travel booking there's a section on the checkout screen titled "Do you want to apply travel funds?" Click "Apply travel funds" and then enter the passenger name and confirmation number from the cancelled flight. The confirmation number will be in the confirmation email of your original booking and in the email you got when you cancelled the reservation. The passenger must be the the same as was booked on the cancelled flight. The new trip must be completed within one year of booking the flight that was cancelled. If the new flight costs more than the original flight you'll need to pay the remaining balance with credit card or gift card. If new flight is less than the original flight you'll have travel funds remaining that you can use later (within the one year restriction).

You can set a default method of contact.... My Account, Communication, Alerts, Edit Add your phone number there and it will populate the field when you book flights. Not it entirely sure what you want to do with the emails. If you want to get them at two email accounts I would suggest you create a filter or rule on the account that does currently receive them that automatically forwards the email to the other account. Please provide more info if I'm not understanding your desired goal.

I'm curious why you would have been told to gate check instead of checking at the baggage counter as there's no difference in how it's handled after checking. It will automatically be transferred to the connecting flight and you'll pick it up at baggage claim. Save yourself the hassle of carrying it through security to the gate and just check it at the baggage counter.

Funds will be available for one year from the date of the original booking. Travel must be completed by that date and can only be used by the passenger from the original booking. If I remember correctly, funds will be associated with the most recently cancelled booking confirmation number. To verify, when you cancel the reservation you'll get an email confirmation and it will say how much credit is associated with the reservation confirmation number.

You can retrieve your reservation and boarding pass with barcode using the Southwest app on your phone or just show up at the airport with your ID and get a printed boarding pass when you check your bag or if you're not checking bags you can use a Southwest kiosk to print a boarding pass. The suffix missing should not be a problem, the level of scrutiny is not that high. Enjoy your first flight, Southwest is a great way to travel. Feel free to post any other questions you might have.

The adult (parent/guardian) responsible for the unaccompanied minor on the departure side must stay at the departure gate until the plane is in the air so in a delay the UM would stay with that adult until the UM boards the plane. UMs are only allowed on flights without a plane change so the child would stay on the plane in the event of a stop on the way to the destination. While it's possible to have a mechanical problem that would require a plane change at the stopover, it's certainly not common and I believe Southwest personnel would escort the minor to the other plane. That's not explicitly stated in the UM policy online. At the destination, the UM is escorted off the plane and a designated adult (parent/guardian) meets the minor at the gate. Southwest checks ID and hands over the UM at the gate. More details and other info can be found here: https://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/family/unaccompanied-minors-pol.html

I understand the frustration, but publicly expressing anger at a company that you want to work for is no way to make a good impression with the company. I'd suggest you politely and privately contact Southwest's HR department and see if they would be kind enough to offer you any more information.
