are you attending cranky dork fest today at LAX? (I know off topic just didn’t know where else to ask 😂)
Nope.
SoCalFlyer97's likes to plane spot but it's always part of a planned trip should I have a long wait at the airport. Like to watch the planes and get extra work done from the comfort and quietness of any empty gate or elsewhere airside whenever I've got extra time to spare at the airport.

I don't know if it is written anywhere but always allow for a flight that is delayed to be moved back up.
There are a few reasons for this:
I recommend FlightRadar24 to check "where is my plane coming from?" and you can track the inbound flight to see if the issue is a delay occurring previously on your route. Then especially if the flight continues on throughout the day it's likely to go as projected with the delays - plan to be at the gate around when the inbound flight is arriving.
Doing the same thing you may see your plane is already there, but there isn't crew available - this could change on the fly, if crew suddenly becomes available due to some other delay or cancelation the flight time can be moved back up in an instant.
Then also Southwest can arrange for a plane swap and leave earlier with a new plane taken from some other route and move the departure back up. Probably not if there is a big continuing group on the other flight - see if the flight number originates at your airport or if it continues throughout the day. I think this is less likely if the continuing flight will be coming within 1-2 hours.
In fact if the announcement was early enough, head the airport early, if your flight is delayed significantly you can maybe move up onto an earlier flight for free.
I hope this helps!

She'll be checked in when you check in.
You'll want to go ahead and verify, but it won't be a race as either one of you checking in first will cause the other to be checked in.

Beware purchasing the Early Bird checkin. I had to modify my reservation to a new destination city and the Early Bird did not transfer. Called Southwest and was told because I cancelled the first city and rebooked another city that Southwest kept my $50 and I was out of luck.
This policy is BAD. First of all, the customer is doing the work of the Southwest agent. We don't know, nor does Southwest make you aware of the dangers of losing money like this when you utilize their website. Second, this is BAD BUSINESS. i have been a loyal Southwest customer for years and to be treated this way is terrible. I will now look to other airlines to be treated better. MAJOR FAIL SOUTHWEST!!!
I echo @bec102896
I'm assuming you made this change 25 hours or more before departure. I would also try emailing or sending a DM to Twitter and make it clear that your intent of your transaction was to change the destination city on your reservation and not to cancel it altogether and start from scratch. They should have record of both flight confirmations. Here is Southwest's policy:
If I have EarlyBird Check-In and choose to change my flight, will the EarlyBird Check-In transfer as well? EarlyBird Check-In can be transferred only if the new flight departs more than 25 hours from the time of the change. If the new flight departs in less than 25 hours, then you will lose your non-refundable EarlyBird Check-In purchase. Additionally, if the change to your reservation involves a new city pair(s), you will need to contact us to have the EarlyBird Check-In
transferred.

This fine print is interesting to me because if you have a WGA+ fare or A List WGA and do a same day confirmed you may have to pay $5-$10 if you go from non stop to connection (at least for non points flights) the app shows me +$5 for a flight that is a no plane change or $10 if it’s a connection I’ve paid that multiple times no refunds
That's the more common one for me where I booked a connection but trying to get on a direct flight as an A-list - I don't recall any refunds of the $5.60 unless it happened automatically, maybe I didn't notice. And I didn't "care" - after all I'm getting home earlier, it's worth $5.60.

Hey there, @Gabrielle2501!
Thank you so much for reaching out! And for your interest in joining our Houston Family!
I took a quick look, and there was a *ton* of interest in both of these postings. That helps explain why the process is taking longer than you (or we) would hope - so sorry for the wait there!
The Ramp Agent position is well underway, and our Team has been reviewing applications and meeting Candidates in the order they applied. Since you did apply later in the process, they haven't gotten to your application just yet. Fingers crossed they'll be able to meet you and get to know your interest in the role!
For the Customer Service Agent, the application review for that position looks to be just starting. The Team will also review applications in the order received in order to meet with Candidates, and I've got my fingers crossed that you'll land an interview and get to meet with the Team!
Keep an eye on your email inbox (and any junk/spam folders - just in case) for an update as soon as one is available. Thanks for checking in on these applications! Rooting for you - hang in there!

This was a strange experience I had today, and I am not sure what happened and wanted to know if anyone has had this happen to them.
I found a flight a little later than the flight I was ticketed for and could get a refund on some points I used to book, figured, why not - might as well make the change. I did this, got my boarding pass, and even upgraded to the A boarding group. When I went to board, my ticket was denied and I was told 'I didn't have a ticket to this flight'. Thankfully the counter staff was able to get me on a flight (5 hours later, anyone got any time-killing suggestions at DIA?) I decided with all of my free time to call customer service (counter staff suggested this as well since she said I shouldn't have been able to check in if I wasn't ticketed.)
Now here is where I really got frustrated, I call SW and the agent said verbatim 'when you changed your flight you must have done something wrong' I kept pressing her on how I was able to upgrade my boarding pass, save it to my wallet, view it up until minutes before boarding in the app and she had no answer for me.
Just really disappointed in how I was treated, and curious if this has happened to anyone. At a minimum, I think a refund on my 2nd leg of the trip (like 13k points) could be a fix, but she kept insisting I DID something wrong. I was honestly shocked.
Part of the issue might be solved if you can find out what flight you did have a ticket for - hopefully you saved that boarding pass, double-check the flight number and dates that there wasn't accidentally a change in the date being shown when you changed it.
Since it allowed you to upgrade position could it have been one day ahead? Anyway - rule that out first.
@bec102896 's suggestion is also great to confirm that your transaction when through and you weren't still ticketed on the original flight.
I know its a pain, but it will help your case if you can rule out some of these pathways before writing to the company.

No they cannot be connected. One reason is that the boarding position has already been sequentially established. They are not going to rearrange the boarding positions just so that your ticket can be connected.

Just in: soon you can standby on another southwest flight regardless of your fare class and Business Select customers will get free Wi-Fi!
i’m curious for A List A List preferred customers what are your thoughts on this change since you could be on standby with a lot more people certain times of the year. Keep in mind it’s only standby where A list still gets same day confirmed.
I'll weigh in as I usually book WGA+ (non A-List).
I think the Same-Day Standby policy change was necessary considering competing legacy carriers were doing the same. Since the benefit appears to be morphing into a standard feature across the airline industry, it makes sense in my opinion for Southwest to offer it too. Since Southwest generally does not like to upcharge for such "basics", I think this had to be done.
We should keep in mind two factors: Same-Day Standby List is different from Same-Day Flight Change (both currently included with A-List and WGA+ fares or higher). Of all the times that I've needed to use either of the Same-Day change benefits under WGA+, I have only needed to use Same-Day Flight Change; I have not needed to use the Same-Day Standby List benefit. It appears that non A-List'ers who purchase WGA fare will not get the Same-Day Flight Change benefit.
Regarding A-List, I don't think there's much to worry about because I assume A-List'ers will still retain their priority order on the Standby List based on fare, being placed only behind those who are re-accommodated due to flight disruptions and in front of everybody else. As for me who books WGA+, the policy states that non A-List WGA+ fare also remain ahead of WGA and behind A-List.
With all that being said, I think the A-List is long past due for much needed value upgrades. I would propose a number of add-ons to A-List so that this program too can better compete with the other carriers.
Example suggested perks to add to A-List combined with all existing perks:
A-List: Free Wi-Fi Transferrable Flight Credit for WGA Standand Plus Priority Pass Reimbursement (10 lounge visits per year) 100% TSA PreCheck or Global Entry enrollment Reimbursement 25% CLEAR enrollment Reimbursement
A-List Preferred:
All A-List perks above plus
Premium Beverage Prestige Priority Pass Reimbursement (unlimited visits) Free Companion Upgrades to Business Select Board after A30 if positioned at A31 or behind 100% CLEAR enrollment Reimbursement
Agree with all of this!

Hello,
I have bought tickets for a SW flight that is supposed to depart at 6:15PM. Now I want to standby on an earlier flight (6:45AM). I would appreciate your input to the following questions:
1. Will I need to pay for changing to an earlier flight?
2. How do I find out whether I qualify for free same day standby?
3. Should I still check in for my flight at 6:15PM the day before and get to airport early to go on standby?
Thank you.
Given today’s news:
Potentially no - not sure when the roll-out takes place for the new policy or when your flight is happening.
Will depend on roll-out of the new policy and date of your flight.
Yes - under all circumstances get checked in and then after that would be when you can discuss a change whether under the new policy or as part of a more general ask at the airport. There is some leeway at the airport to grant you a new flight that may not be able to be confirmed online or by phone under the previous policy, so get your check-in completed first as usual and go from there.

I travel a lot—at least every week— and I’m a SWA loyalist.
I heard something new today from an attendant: it’s a Federal Aviation Regulation, (FAR) that roller boards must be wheels in or out in the front bin.
A courtesy? Yes, absolutely. Especially on a full flight. But this flight had at least 100 opens.
I just acknowledged the request, and sat a couple of rows back. These attendants deal with enough idiots, no need to add to the stress.
BUT… I am curious, I checked the FARs and didn’t see mention of this.
Does anyone know?
As in not putting it in there sideways?
My guess is that this is to maximize the number of people in that section that can put their small personal items up above since there isn't any underseat space for them in the bulkhead row, as well as FA items and safety items taking up some of the space there.
Making it an FAR sounds like a stretch to me, the FAA would have to make separate rules for all different aircraft configurations.

Only 25 flights in a year and you can be A List and same day changes are free. Depending on how much you travel you might take advantage of the sale to get a few segments to get A List and then you can in theory book the healers flight of the day and change to the most expensive day of as long as a seat exists (comes in handy during holidays when they mark up prices for prime time flights even if not sold out) I got ahead of the game this year with the $29 sale they did last year so I don’t get stuck with December day trips
