I'd suggest @raffas to get to the airport as early as you can, the gate staff can get you an empty seat when someone doesn't show that you won't be able to officially take online.
You have plenty of potential routes so you only need one other option to appear and you'll be okay. DAL is a very busy airport for Southwest so you may end up not going through ATL.
Keep checking to make an official switch as well, there's always movement close to departure time on availability.

Clarifying that the policy is available but no one is forced to do this, I’m not sure what the FA would do if they saw someone that needed even more room than what you are describing.
Next time don’t take that middle, there is almost always one somewhere in the plane and the worst case is that you end up back at this one in the end having delayed the flight one extra minute.

You qualified for family boarding since you had a child under the age of 7. You should have paid attention to the boarding announcements, which apparently you did not.
While Southwest could have done better, you started this whole chain of events by not listening to the boarding announcements.

Hello,
I have both personal and business Southwest Chase cards.
When I filter I can match up all my credit card charges to the points listed on Southwest's site. It seems I got all the credit for Companion Pass, but zero credit (the entire year) for TQP. Does Chase has to instruct SWA to give me the TQP? Shouldn't the points earned (which was reported to Southwest) let Southwest know how much to credit in regards to TQP? I've called both Southwest and Chase and, of course, each claims it's the other's responsibility.
Thanks for your comments.

It looks like the nonstop flights end in August, but you can still fly direct out of Denver with 2-3 direct flights offered daily. For me it would be worth the hour and a half drive to Denver to avoid a layover.

From the responses, I will just book her separately (without companion'ing her).
I am the 'rule-follower type' and don't want or need to get crossways with SWA.
This is a good policy to follow. Keep an eye on the fares in case you can make it work as separate tickets for yourself through BNA but otherwise booking separate may be the best path.

Even if this was an option I would not recommend it. SW WiFi is not consistent and it is not uncommon for it to not be working on your flight.

Hi! I pieced together 2 flights to get to Hawaii from Raleigh RDU. I was originally only carrying a backpack + carryon but they are both very full with no room left; they will still fit but I would probably have to mail souvenirs back! LOL. I'm considering switching to checking a bag. I have the first flight of the day 5am, from what i've read the ticket counter and security do not even open until 4am. The terminal in which Southwest is located does not have the other major airlines so it is not normally as busy as the others (from my research). My question is do you think checking my bag to final destination will make me rushed in getting through security (I do have Pre-check also). TIA!
My main question is that it says you "pieced together" two flights - do you mean a one-way ticket to destination X and then another ticket from X to Hawaii? In that case carrying on may be favorable depending on your time for connection. You may be able to get checked baggage tagged for the final destination in Hawaii but there is a chance you'd have to retrieve it and go through re-checking when you get to X if I'm understanding the post.

This rewards benefit is a scam. If you purchase it at the same time as your flight or vacation package, they won’t reimburse you. It has to be done as a separate purchase but this is never mentioned anywhere including the terms and conditions of the benefit. Then they’ll give you the runaround when you complain about it.

When you're looking to redeem Rapid Rewards points for your children's flights on Southwest, you can usually book all flights under a single reservation to keep everyone together. This keeps things simple and stress-free, ensuring you all board together and sit close. It’s like keeping the harmony in a song, man. For different accounts or booking methods, though, you might need separate reservations, but they can often be linked to manage boarding sequences. Safe travels on your cosmic journey through the skies!

Just wanted to chime in here that the “remove the middle name” solution worked for me on a current trip. When we initially checked in for the outbound segment of our trip my wife got her PreCheck but I did not. The gate agent wasn’t able to get the issue resolved.
I opened a chat with TSA and they very quickly got back to me and indicated that my name was being incorrectly submitted for validation — what got submitted to them was “<first_name> <middle_name> <middle_name>”, and this clearly doesn’t work.
While traveling I called SWA and the rep instantly noted that my middle name needed to be removed from the ticket, that fixed the issue and my passes were issued with PreCheck status (it unfortunately didn’t help as my origin was international and MCO doesn’t have pre-check for connecting flights, but the tickets seemed valid).
Shout out to Brent at SWA for so quickly recognizing the issue.
This clearly seems like a bug in the reservation system and needs to be addressed.

I have both of the SW business credit cards that come with the perk of up to $500 in credits for points transfers on each card per year for a total potential credit of $1k. Last year, I used it to transfer a portion of my points to my daughter and son in law's account to help them get away for their honeymoon. I'm thinking of referring my wife for the SW personal CC while the bonus is at 85k points. Will I qualify for the business CC points transfer credit if I use my card to transfer Her new points into my RR account? The reason is that I would prefer to use my A-List Preferred status when booking our travel.
But agreed - giving your kids a “no questions asked” transfer is different than your wife’s account you can just book tickets from her points for anyone including yourself and the passenger’s status will still apply.

I will be flying next week with 10 month old twins and a four year old. I have a foldable wagon that seats four kids and the seats have to come out for it to fold. Is this something I can gate check? I have seen other discussions about foldable wagons but I haven't seen anything about what the policy is if the seats have to be removed in order for it to collapse.
Hola!
This subject was discussed and addressed before in a prior post. I assume transport of the removable seats would be accommodated but I would send the link of the model to SW Customer service to be sure: https://community.southwest.com/t5/Travel-Policies/folding-wagon-for-kids-and-carseats/td-p/51903
Here's what @DancingDavidE mentioned in the prior thread:
If it folds up like a stroller then it would be treated like a stroller. Particularly if the manufacturer advertises it as airport friendly you should be fine. Send a link to the specific model if you still aren't sure.
For instance - if you put it inside one of the Southwest blue bags to protect it from scuffs, and no one would know whether it was a wagon or a stroller inside the bag - then it is equivalent to a stroller.
This is the website: https://www.southwest.com/html/customer-service/baggage/carryon-bags-pol.html?CLK=SITESEARCH
-
-> they describe "any type of stroller" which the wagon seems to be equivalent as long as it folds up and is able to be carried by the baggage handler.
Hope this helps!
If it’s going inside a case or blue bag should be good. If you are leaving the wagon and loose seats at the jetbridge that sounds risky but post a link and let’s take a look.

Here we are in 2024 and still having this issue. I use yahoo and get emails like the confirmation for creating this account. But won't get any confirmation emails. The SW help person I spoke with before said it was an issue with Yahoo and had me switch to gmail. But then when they merged two different rapid rewards accounts, it moved it back to Yahoo and now I'm back to not getting emails. Yes - I could swap it to gmail again but I'd prefer to keep all my flight info at one email address.

Thanks for the reply and where to send the idea to Southwest. It may take some doing by the airport to honor the request, possibly re-route the electrical outlets and place 60 seats, back-to-back, so passengers can sit and wait in a comfortable manner. Fifteen minutes (15) before boarding begins, they ask all passengers to start taking their "assigned seats" to help move the boarding process faster. Sending passengers fifteen at a time helps unblock congestion getting on the plane and in the aisle- as passengers place their carry-ons in the overhead compartment. It may get some getting used to and there will be some growing pains for sure, just like any other change.
At O’Hare for instance the gates are all shared use by the airlines so the seating thing would not work since Southwest may change which gates they use.
There may be a logistical issue as well with sixty seats per gate taken up for this purpose, some locations are so tight there is barely room for sixty seats in total.
