I completely get what you are saying bbland. I feel the same way. I have several pieces of luggage for differing situations. Seems most of the replies don't get it.
One specific situation is a carryon for Southwest, i.e. 24x16x10. I actually have an older travelpro but it is not a spinner, just a two-wheeler. Harder to pull and definitely won't roll down the aircraft aisle, like a spinner that you can turn sideways. Its green, which unfortunately sometimes deceives the boarding agent and I have to prove it meets their rules by putting it in the sizer and they are astonished that it is perfectly sized, wheels and all. The wheels are somewhat recessed. It would be too big for other airlines and international. I bought it in an online clearance sale 5 years ago and not seen one since.
The best alternative would be the Travelpro Crew VersaPack Max Carry-on Rollaboard Spinner. It is 55 Liters interior volume vs the one that another responder suggested (49L) and half the cost at $200. It is 23x15.5x10 (or 2" thicker if you expand it, which I have found to be just fine, especially in the MAX 737's). That's including wheels, etc. So you are still not getting the maximum size for southwest, but awfully close. Very stable and easy to roll. I ditched the interior folding board for extra space.
https://travelpro.com/collections/standard-carry-on-luggage-and-suitcases/products/crew%E2%84%A2-versapack%E2%84%A2-max-carry-on-expandable-rollaboard%C2%AE?variant=20372015284322
There are actually a couple of 24x16x10 carryons I have found online, but they are cheap and cant possibly match the travelpro quality.

My estimate is 50% of preboard people are simply abusing the system and are parasites.

After 4 flights in 2 days which each had over 25 pre-boarders- I'm over it. And breaking news states that SW has increased the maximum charge for earlybird check-in and upgraded boarding ( up to $149!). That will surely increase the number of pre-boarders.
Also- SW policy regarding saving of seats ( they don't officially have one) has also been put out there on social media and now abused.
Between the 2 policies- the abuse has gotten out of control.
I used to like no assigned seating - but now I wish that Southwest had pre-assigned seating.

I don’t think SWA has any control over the factory that makes the cookies. However, honey would be a fantastic addition.

I've been waiting for years for Southwest to look into flying to Canada, as SWA is my preferred airline (almost all flights I've ever taken have been with them). Been across the country, been international now by air. First country ever traveled to outside the US was Canada by car, but mostly in the East. There are many different places to see in Canada. For entertainment/leisure, I would visit the following:
British Columbia: Vancouver
Alberta: Edmonton, Calgary Saskatchewan: Regina Manitoba: Winnipeg Ontario: Toronto, Ottawa, London, Sault Ste. Marie Quebec: Montreal, Quebec (City) Nova Scotia: Halifax There are several others I would drive to for CHL games (including Hamilton, Kamloops, Saskatoon, etc.) but I would fly into these other cities. I'm sure for other people, there are probably some rural and rustic places to visit in the prairies out west and maybe some coastal areas, but these are the places I would like to see flights into from Southwest.
One issue is that Southwest can only take bookings in USD while flying in Canada would require accepting CAD - it’s an IT issue, not any lack of interest.

This response helped so much in our planning! Does a family need to let staff know that they will be using this option prior to the start of boarding or does every flight announce family boarding automatically? Thank you!
Family boarding is announced during boarding for every flight.

A quick follow up to this - corporate followed up with me and took care of the original problem, which I expected would happen. They were very friendly and helpful.
There really isn't a solution that can be applied to the main complaint because they can't undo my wasted time and frustration. I hope Southwest starts to realize that when customers complain it is typically when they feel they aren't being heard or helped. This area needs great improvement.

You’ll also lose the transferability from WGA+ but if you fly often then you probably don’t worry about using travel credits either.

Yes. I have the $69 annual fee card and get 2 EBCIs per year. But in the OP's case when the flight was booked the EBCI window had already closed as it was less than 36 hours before the flight.

WN is the 2 letter FAA designation for Southwest. DL is Delta. AA is American.
I don't know where WN came from, but it is what it is. Some others are wierd, too. F9 is Frontier, and NK is Spirit

Thank you for your suggestion to Contact Southwest Customer Service
I've done that a few times and happy to report an intelligent response to one of my messages. This reassured me that people are reading these suggestions.
I posted on this customer forum in hope that others who live in the Santa Barbara area or SF Bay Area who would help urge Southwest to consider a new route to serve us.

Yeah not a good deal. You only get 1 cent per point plus you pay taxes.
Using points only gets you over about 1.3 cents per point, plus no taxes.
Nope.

It's still somewhat of a win because Southwest used to not offer overnight connections so that fact that they are now is an improvement. Though some may say otherwise because you have to sleep at the airport.
Some of these I’d still get a room for four or five hours of sleep as long as it would be enough time in the a.m. to get back through security. Since there should be local originating passengers it should be fine to leave and come back. But it is progress, they did at least announce the red eyes so we’ll see how long it takes to implement and on what routes they do it.

The lack of assigned seating is stupid. I heard they're changing this policy finally! As a recommendation, besides assigned seating, they should assign sections, such as, assigning the back of the plane to "C", then load the plane from "C" to "B" to "A". This would allow people to put their overhead in without disturbing people trying to get in. This would ensure on time departure. I don't understand why it took years for Southwest to figure this out.
Also Mexican airplanes have doors in the front and the back of the plane and this makes boarding and deplaning great as well. Perhaps Southwest can get these kind of planes also.
The 737’s do have doors in both front and rear. A few airports like LGB and BUR do use boarding from both doors.

Will arrive from Tokyo on ANA at O'Hare early next month and need to check in my suitcases on Southwest for Tampa. Is there a Southwest check in area straight after Immigration and Customs? Cannot do bag drop off as two separate tickets.
If you can confirm that ANA will deplane in Terminal 5 then the Southwest counter is also in Terminal 5 you’ll just have to make your way upstairs to the ticket desk.

We see people gaming most any system put in place. This is just one such example. I have been in line with a veteran of war that could easily legitimately qualify for pre board but he would not have it. He was pretty outraged at the people he saw clearly gaming the policy. This was going on with emotional support dogs as well. To the people that do this, shame on you.

Did the hotel free breakfast have a waffle maker?
I didn't see a waffle maker at the Dynasty. Not sure whether or not they serve waffles at all or only on certain days of the week. On the morning of stay there, Sausage and Scrambled Eggs was the free meal which was served from the warmers.
I think both of the Fairfields and the Holiday Inn on this series served pre-prepped soft waffles on certain days of the week from one of the warmers too; I didn't see waffle makers. The Residence Inn stay was the location that I noticed had a waffle maker. The Azure stay had hot breakfast but I had to check out before the dining room opened; likely same scenario as I didn't see a waffle maker from a prior stay. No breakfast included at the Apache.

Hey Nicole,
I understand it is an old thread, but I am experiencing this issue on both mobile and web (PC and mobile) and it is now 2024. It definitely seems related to flight changes, as the problem started right after I made one. This issue is very frustrating because the customer support representative is unable to resolve it, and it appears to be an ongoing problem that the tech team was supposed to have fixed years ago. Can you help us?

Southwest has 3 gates at OKC they can’t serve every city with the 3 gates so they go to places where they can connect more people LAX isn’t an ideal connection for a lot of cities other might go.

Are you sure the reservation fully ticketed? If Southwest was unable to complete the authorization for whatever reason (in this case, maybe an Apple Pay bug?) then no funds will be taken from your card though there might be a pending authorization on it for a couple of days.

I fly on the 17th of June. It had a longer layover when I booked but I just received an email from SW saying the times changed and made the layover shorter. All flights on that date are booked. I guess I'll just have to pray there are no delays and make a run for it. Assuming it's in the same terminal, it shouldn't be too bad.
Can you standby to an earlier flight at BWI?
