I've been flying SWA for almost 47 years, and I've seen lots of changes - most of them good. Often get "canceled" service on short flights (more than 176 miles) due to weather. So what happens to my business select drink coupon? The reason I saw "canceled due to weather" is in multiple instances, there wasn't any weather, and it appears that the service was "canceled" either because the captain or crew didn't want to perform in-flight service. The other item I noticed about this is that it appears to happen when the crew is not Texas (Dallas or Houston) based. Why can't I use my coupon on another flight since it was "canceled" at the discretion of SWA? In theory, they could cancel every in-flight service and never serve. There has to be a solution
Take a screenshot of it and ask nicely on your next flight.
You won't be able to get your old boarding pass if your next flight is several days later so you'd need to take a picture of it in case the FA asked to see it.
So no guarantee on this but I've had it accepted many times this way during the paper boarding pass times. We'll have to see how it evolves with electronic passes and tickets.

Late to the discussion on this, but as a long-time A-lister, I am disappointed to no longer receive drink coupons in the mail periodically. It takes a lot of flying to achieve A-list status and while I can understand the desire to save $$ on postage, a periodic electronic credit for a beverage would be appreciated.
As a person who has been A-List for every single year that the program has been in existence. I agree that ti takes a lot of flying to get and keep the status.
But if you are A-List, how is it that you are just now complaining about something that changed over a year ago? If you fly at least 25 one ways a year, surely you should have noticed that the coupons were missing (multiple times) a long, long time ago.

To leave your review with Southwest, click on the blue Contact Us at the bottom of this page. After it opens, scroll down to Provide Feedback. And after it opens, click on Complements.
It's always helpful if you can provide the date of service and airport.
Thank you for taking the time to acknowledge the assistance this SWA employee gave you!!
They will also potentially ask for your confirmation number which helps validate what your pathway was as far as airports and aircraft during the day. Don't ever post that publicly, save it for the contact us form.

Yes, except each person will have to sign up for a RR account to claim the credits and transfer them to you.

is it true that they are taking over frontier? If so will they stay in Sioux Falls and how can a person apply?
The only articles I see mentioning the two by name are from more than ten years ago.
But that said the volume at FSD is on the lower end for a Southwest airport but if the availability of planes and pilots keeps up it might be in a future expansion.
A lot of southwest airports are on the small end at 1M enplanements per year so this would be a bit lower than that. Similar to Bellingham though which was added recently.

If I were to do that, is there a way to use my points and my spouse's points to pay? Right now, it is prompting me to buy more points because I do not have enough individually to pay for all four one way flights. Is this a situation where I should just call to have the reservation made?
You can use your points to buy tickets for other people, or yourself and other people at the same time.
So you may:
If one person has enough points for everyone then that person will be logged in and buy RT tickets for four people.
If not, then break it apart you buy four tickets one-way and spouse buys four tickets one-way.
If not enough there, then you'll have to start splitting up the reservatations into pairs - spouse plus one kid and then yourself and one kid, pay cash for remaining tickets. If you do this, book one-way tickets so when you use cash on the return trip you can buy all four tickets together again.
Since I'm chasing status personally I would use my points to buy tickets for my family, and cash for my own. Keep that in mind if either you or your spouse are trying to make A-list or ALP - buy that ticket cash and use your points for the kids.
If you split up from the kids you have to buy your ticket first and then theirs in case they are younger and can't fly alone, the system will ask for your confirmation number to be flying with them.

I would love this. I currently have to drive to and from San Jose every week and then drive to Los Angeles every weekend, so I'm putting a ton of miles on my car and body wasting years off my life being in the car. Would be awesome to be able to jump on a flight and hop on over...at least to San Jose. I know it's unlikely for LA, since that's so close by comparison.

That is indeed what I’m saying! Book for yourself, then transfer the remaining credit. Once that’s booked, transfer the remaining credit onward and repeat.
I suppose what the original poster could do is book however as many itineraries as they have people (for a similarly priced flight) then cancel, and end up with however many credits they need.
Example: I have $300 transferable credit. I book the flight I need for $100. I then make 2 separate $100 bookings on other flights, and refund those to a transferable flight credit. Now I have one correct flight and two $100 transferable credits instead of one $300 credit.

If you are flying back to the states from Cancun make sure you get to the airport early, at least 3 hours. It took us 1 hour 43 minutes to go through the general check in there were two check in posts that were empty and not being used. The belt for the bags was turned off and on . The plane was boarded and it took us an extra 50 minutes for the luggage to be loaded. We missed our connecting flight. Instead of getting the next nonstop flight back Southwest booked us on one stop flight. Be sure you leave more than one and a half hours between flights out of Cancun or try to get a nonstop flight
It sounds like a couple of different issues here - are you saying that if everyone on the flight had been there an hour earlier then the plane would have departed on time? That's probably wishful thinking but I agree it would help on busy days like that.
As far as connections coming back from international flights I'm a fan of allowing some extra time.
However if you miss a flight due to the airline's efforts and they reschedule you onto something you don't like, ask them again in case there is an option you prefer whether that's a direct non-stop flight later or a connection earlier.
Southwest uses a point-to-point network and so there is a significant portion of the passenger base that aren't bothered by connections if the end result is getting to the destination earlier and/or cheaper.
But if you get re-assigned a connecting flight but prefer a later non-stop just ask.

These are the current guidelines:
SWA's website indicates:
Any of the items listed below* may be checked in substitution of one piece of the free checked baggage allowance for you at no charge on a one-item-for-one-bag basis. If the item of sporting equipment exceeds 50 pounds in weight, excess weight charges will apply. If the item of sporting equipment exceeds 62 inches in size (outside length plus height plus width), excess size charges will not apply.
*Snow ski equipment.
Snow ski equipment, including skis or snowboards, ski boots, and ski poles are allowed, including one pair of skis or one snowboard, one set of poles, and one pair of ski/snowboard boots packed in a container(s) acceptable to Carrier. When substituting ski equipment for a free bag, we allow up to two bags (containing one set of snow skis, ski poles, and ski boots) to count as one item, even if they are packed and tagged separately. Snow ski equipment packed in a plastic bag will be transported only with a limited release of liability.

You'll need to note the seat you were in - the Max A/C system is fine in general, so if the specific plane is having an issue you can note it.
Did you notify the flight attendant? Sometimes the temperature can be set too high.
Those nozzles above you are only a portion of the A/C air, there should be plenty of ventilation and A/C capacity even if you had the nozzles fully closed.

That it is "all the TSAs fault" seems to be the well rehearsed response by all Southwest phone support, check in personnel and gate agents, for the multiple impacts getting selected for a secondary security screening causes. It's TSA, not Southwest, so you get nothing from them to help rectify the situation of getting a late C group number when you went to all the trouble to checkin and your spouse on the same reservation gets A group. It is true that it is TSA for being selected for the secondary security screening for the one flight with the extra screening, but all the issues on subsequent connecting fights are caused by Southwest's reservation system and boarding process. There is no reason not to get assigned your legitimate place in line on the rest of your connecting flights as the TSA screening has nothing to do with them. Even worse then not being able to board with the rest of your party on the reservation on subsequent flights is losing your TSA Pre Check from paying for Global Entry on the rest of your connecting flights. On international flights you usually need to go through security again after clearing customs. On my recent trip back from Mexico, the rest of my party with TSA Pre Check cleared security in 5 minutes and then waited another 50 minutes for me to finally show up. This is very much Southwest's issue. Other airlines with different reservation systems have none of these issues.
There are things that Southwest could have and should have done on my connecting flight. I clearly should have had an A group number as all other folks on the reservation with me did. All the numbers are gone since the Southwest system would not assign my connecting flight boarding position since it wouldn’t assign the 1 st flight. However, Southwest lets "special circumstance" folks board after the A group, before the B group. When I asked the gate agent in Miami, Monica V., if there was anything I could do to board at least close to the rest of my party, she parroted the party line that is was TSA’s fault and that there was nothing she could do. When I mentioned boarding after the A’s, she got that hostile look like I was just another low life trouble maker trying to cheat my way onto the plane before my turn. She stated that was ONLY for disabled passengers and my issue was not a Southwest problem.
An even better solution is for Southwest to still issue you your boarding position number for your connecting flights and not remove TSA PRE from your connecting flight boarding pass.
This is Southwest's problem, they just don't care as it will cost them money to fix their reservation system.

I recently read that it could take Southwest two years to gear up for redeye flights for issues related to crew contracts. New pilot and flight attendant contracts were just settled recently. Surely this issue, which was proposed last year already by the company, were addressed in these contracts. What could possibly take two more years? There are already flights carrying over into the following day (DEN-ATL 2100-0155) in the schedule. Common guys; get this done!

Thank you.
I'm having trouble getting to the link in the newly organized FAQ section but this is still true, you can check a stroller and a car seat as two additional items that don't count towards your two free items.
Also if the child is ticketed they also get two free checked items which may help. Lap children don't get the standard two free items, but they do still get the stroller and car seat exception.
